Which isn't too bad considering theres 28 reviews. But jeese, It sounds so complete, too complete for a 60.
I think you're confused about the number of reviews thing. It's only indicative of a good album if the album has a good score and a lot of reviews. If an album has a bad score and a lot of reviews, that's just further confirmation that it's bad.

I'm not nuts about the Killers - but it's definitely better than a lot of people give it credit for...
Also, the new Brand New album, which didn't, like, blow me away or anything - but I'm just so glad it's good. It's getting pretty decent reviews, too, but I just have to, like, share the relief with everyone or something...

I agree with the Barenaked Ladies comment. Barenaked Ladies Are Me was a very solid album with some great songs.
Another one I don't understand is Elton John - The Captain and the Kid. I think those who expected it to be a continuation of Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy missed the point. The chorus in the title track says "You can't go back, and if you try you fail." The album updates what's happened to Elton John and Bernie Topin since Captain Fantastic, and does so in some of the best music they've written in years (although Songs from the West Coast was close - another great album).

i think the sunn o)))/boris record is being tragically overlooked because it wasn't the low-end sonic annihilation everyone was expecting... i think it takes alot of talent and gonads for two bands with such distinctive sounds to churn out a record so wholly unique from their standard approaches; it also takes alot of talent to press a doom metal record that gets pegged with words like "subtle" and "nuanced"

I'm in semi-agreement with you on Mr. Beast, TRUC. I think it's better than the critics gave it credit for, and it's got some killer songs ("Autorock," "Glasgow Megasnake," and "Friend of the Night"), but there are also a few weak ones ("Team-Handed," "I Chose Horses").

for the wildly inconsistent mogwai, that's definitely impressive to have only two (maybe three) sorta-duds.
oh yeah, i also thought critics were finally shaken out of their "can't beat em join em" mentality about rap and were too repulsed by spank rock to feel allright giving it a good rating, despite the great music and the inseperable MC behind it. that also made my top ten.
A truely brilliant offering from the west Londoners. It's as original and well formed as Return to Cookie Mountain, but most reviews seen to fob it off with 3/5. It's not even on Metacritic.

But really, music is nothing - Movies I LOVE get bad reviews all over metacritic.
Yeah, I've definitely noticed that movies often get pretty average scores. I'm positive the average movie score is about ten points lower then music. Maybe that's because so many albums come out each year that in general only the good ones end up getting enough attention to be on MC in the first place.
A perfect example of an underscored movie was Nacho Libre. I thought this movie was actually very funny, but it ended up at around a 55 metascore or something like that.
