You are pretty much guaranteed to like most of Muse's catalog if you enjoyed this more than, say, Assassin. Absolution is full of songs that are about this mellow, and Origin of Symmetry would probably be a good buy for you as well.
(I'm assuming you haven't bought any of these in the few weeks since you said you hadn't. )
Good memory and no I haven't. I am still thinking about it since no one else seems to like their earlier work. I will re-think it though. It is a great song though on an album filled with terrific songs all throughout.

Well, most Muse fans seem to think that Origin of Symmetry is a better album than Black Holes and Revelations. I personally don't, but I can describe it as heavier and riffier than BHaR, with fewer electronic noises and synths.
I strongly recommend that you check out some streaming tracks on www.muse.mu if you haven't already; Citizen Erased off of Origin of Symmetry is particularly good and pretty well represents the content of that album.
It really is nice to see a Radiohead fan who isn't so insulting about Muse's work; most are almost insanely paranoid about enjoying Muse. Look at some of the negative comments on Black Holes and Revelations, i.e., "Ho-hum! Another round of Radiohead-wanna-be tracks. "Problematique"? Where have I heard that title before? Oh yeah: Radiohead's KID A album, the song "Idioteque.""
Despite the fact that those two tracks could not sound more different.
My advice: get Absolution and Origin of Symmetry, and if you really like those pick up Showbiz as well -- just don't expect to be blown away by it.

Sorry dude, them's the rules and I've gotta stick with 'em now. You can always get 30 posts in before the deadline, and I'll count it. You've got two down already.
I do like your inclusion of Viva Voce's "Believer" though. It's a cool track by a band I don't think I've seen mentioned in here.

Sweet! If i can get to 30 posts, that'll be my number 1 also.
*Please be nice. I'm new...and also because I may be intoxicated.*
=== BEST SONGS OF 2006 === 30. Annuals: Complete or Completing 29. Midlake: Roscoe 28. The Guillemots: Trains to Brazil 27. Oxford Collapse: Please Visit Your National Parks 26. Cat Power: Lived in Bars 25. Kelis: Bossy 24. Sugarland: Want To 23. Belle & Sebastian: The Blues are Still Blue 22. The Knife: Silent Shout 21. Band of Horses: The Funeral 20. The Format: She Doesn't Get It 19. Subtle: The Mercury Craze 18. Lupe Fiasco: Kick, Push 17. Neko Case: Star Witness 16. Tim McGraw: When Stars Go Blue 15. Yo La Tengo: Beanbag Chair 14. Peter Bjorn and John: Objects of My Affection 13. Phoenix: Long Distance Call 12. Girl Talk: Warm It Up 11. The Thermals: A Pillar of Salt 10. The Fray: Over My Head 9. Clipse: Trill 8. Dixie Chicks: Not Ready to Make Nice 7. Beyonce: Irreplaceable 6. The Hold Steady: Stuck Between Stations 5. Islands: Rough Gem 4. Justin Timberlake: My Love 3. Gnarls Barkley: Crazy 2. T.I.: What You Know 1. Girl Talk: Peak Out
About the winner: My #1 song is obviously an unusual choice, and one that wouldn't be considered by some people at all. Girl Talk makes some of the best mixes IN HISTORY, and this is not an exaggeration. Other notables off "Night Ripper" include "Warm It Up", "Hold Up", and "Too Deep", but the ones you like the most depend on what you recognize most. The song I picked as number one has one of the greatest combos ever mixed: 2 Live Crew's "We Want Some Pussy", with "I Looooooooove Youuu" from "Silly Love Songs" by Paul McCartney. Besides being pure saccharine fun, "Night Ripper" offers a real insight into modern music, and the dominance of the "Singles Artist". In a way, there is at least something good to be said about all genres - which is why my list is fairly diverse - and why a mix with Indie Rock and Dirty South Rap and 70s Classic Soft Rock can sound so damn good.
2006...Singles trump the Albums. Good on ya.
Note: This list was much harder than my "Best Albums List" (which I haven't posted yet), because it is much more eclectic. I am a fan of rap and rock mostly, but this list ranges from Mainstream Pop to R&B to Country to Power-Pop to Electronic.

"Over and Over" - Hot Chip "Standing in the Way of Control" -- The Gossip "The Boom Boom Bap" -- Scritti Politti "Fake Tales of San Fransisco" -- Arctic Monkeys "The Blues Are Still Blue" -- Belle & Sebastian "Roscoe" -- Midlake "Insistor" -- Tapes 'n' Tapes "Ain't No Other Man" -- Christina Aguilera "In the Morning" -- Junior Boys "You Needed More" -- The Sleepy Jackson
Other 20:
"Postcards from Italy" -- Beirut "Nettie Moore" -- Bob Dylan "Henrietta" -- Fratellis "Fidelity" -- Regina Spector "Country Girl" -- Primal Scream "Steady as She Goes" -- The Raconteurs "The Other Side of Mt. Heart Attack" -- Liars "Not Big" -- Lily Allen "First Gear" -- The Rapture "A Lover Loves" -- Scott Walker "Fat Children" -- Jarvis Cocker "Surgery" -- Scott Matthews ("Shortbus" soundtrack) "Alone, Jealous and Stoned" -- Secret Machines "Paradise Here Abouts" -- Howe Gelb "The Greatest" -- Cat Power "A Certain Romance" -- Arctic Monkeys "Snow in Sun" -- Scritti Politti "The Perfect Crime #2" -- The Decemberists "The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song" -- Flaming Lips "Goin' Against Your Mind" -- Built to Spill
I think we've now officially seen every single song from The Crane Wife show up here. If Decemberists fans could agree on the album's best song, they'd be kicking everyone's ass. Instead, they'll be lucky to break the top 20.
