Also, I haven't heard anything about Fountains of Wayne or Lucinda Williams..but I would certainly say they're both due.
All the other bands that released a big album in 2003 either released one in 2005 or have 2006 albums slated. So...yeah. I anticipate to get news about those two soon, either for a 2006 or early 2007 relesae.

When I saw FOW in 2005, both Chris and Adam had been doing production work and studio work for other bands/artists. Given the lag time in the previous records (four years between #2 and #3) and both guys having heavy workloads outside of FOW, I doubt we'll get a new disc in 2006, but it would be cool if we did. Fingers crossed!
The Pernice Brothers are going back in the studio in January, hopefully with a record out by the end of 2006, according to bossman Joe.

The Shins and Radiohead definitely. Reluctantly The Strokes and the Flaming Lips, though I can't say I expect much. I hope both can surprise me though.
Interpol, Sonic Youth, Modest Mouse, Wilco, and Arcade Fire are all due, but I haven't heard anything announced.

Nellie McKay- Pretty Little Head Nelly Furtado The Secret Machines Dixie Chicks Yeah Yeah Yeahs Christina Aguilera Incubus Red Hot Chili Peppers Pink Cher (?)
Hopefully Bjork, Jill Scott and M.I.A. will have new albums ready for release in 2006...
And that's all I can think of right now.
Oh, wait, I hear that Macy Gray is working on a new album. If that's true then that's for sure on my list.
And there's always the chance of a new Of Montreal album to be released next year.
What is Sufjan releasing next year? I see that you all have him listed but I had no idea he was already recording a new album.

Earlier this year there were rumors that he might finish an Oregon Christmas record by the end of this year, though that obviously isn't going to happen. I read somewhere that he's currently working on Oregon, New Jersey, Vermont, and Rhode Island. I don't think all of those are going to be full albums, and I have no idea when they are going to be released. I haven't heard anything about Sufjan recording.

Oh, wow. Thanks! I hadn't heard any of that. You seem to know a lot about him. Maybe you can answer this question:
What state was The Lord God Bird song about?

It wasn't about a state, it was about a bird: the Ivory-billed Woodpecker. It's a bird that they thought was extinct since the 40's, but was apparently spotted in the swamps of Arkansas earlier this year. The story goes that when people used to see it, they would exclaim, "Lord God, look at that bird," and that's how it got its nickname. I guess if he ever gets around to an Arkansas album, he can put it on that.
----------------------- It's been emotional.

Vermont and Rhode Island will probably be singles or EPs. I can see New Jersey being his next LP, considering it's got a decent population and it's so incredibly storied.

I heard he'll be making Minnesota with it's lead single, "O! Jesse The Body, Lead us into the New Millenium."
----- I’ll be Ben Gazzara, you’ll be Gena Rowlands.

"Mr. Beast" I like a lot. I'm not in love with it like I thought I might be, but I like it a lot. I would've liked for it to be louder, though.
"The Brave and the Bold" is kind of a novelty record, and might not be worth more than two listens.
Main albums I'm looking forward to in '06:
- The new Fugees album, finally!
- "At War With the Mystics," of course-- though there's a good chance of it not being very good
- Part of me is curious about We Are Scientists's "With Love and Squalor." They were excellent live, and I'd like to hear them on record.
- The comeback records from Throbbing Gristle and Bauhaus will probably be worth a listen
- Ghostface Killah's "Fish Scale"
- Yeah Yeah Yeah's "Coco Beware"
- The new (untitled) DJ Shadow, Explosions in the Sky, Radiohead, Wilco and Wrens records
- Drive By Truckers' "A Blessing and A Curse" (which Metacritic doesn't have on its upcoming releases list!) should be really great. Can't wait!
- I'm most looking forward to The Secret Machines' "Ten Silver Drops" and the upcoming Death From Above 1979. These two bands have the potential to put out some incredible, even classic, records for my tastes.

Are you serious about the Wrens? I figured they'd disappear for years before they released a new album. If they have a new one coming out, that would be by far my most anticipated release.

Mister Bissell (that totally rhymes) said they have a lot of material ready to go in the press. I think he's said that the band's ready to strike while the iron is hot.
In other '06 news, Cat Power's "The Greatest" is really quite enjoyable. It's some of her first work that doesn't depress me or make me want to, y'know, kill myself. The record's Memphis soul vibe is palpable.
I also have yet to hear Man Man's "Six Demon Bag" and Goldfrapp's "Supernature," but both should be notable '06 releases.
