Hate to break it to you, Pax, but that whole thing was a hoax. TMT and Pitchfork had news pieces about it a few days ago.

O, that's too bad.

I read this short Rolling Stone thing regarding the new Dylan album, and the guy said that the song "Ain't Talkin'" may be Dylan's most powerful album-closing epic ever. That is quite impressive considering this is the man who brought us Desolation Row, Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands, and Highlands.

Rolling Stone does tend to overhype things from time to time, so I'd take that with a grain of salt. While it's no doubt good, "Best Ever" would have to be pretty damn impressive from the man who's already given us some of the best songs in rock history.

The Rapture - Pieces of the People We Love

After 3 long years the Rapture are finally going to follow up their debut masterpiece Echoes. I heard the first single on their myspace page and I can safely say that this is my number 1 anticapted album of the year.

I liked The Rapture's Echoes as well. It wasn't quite as mindblowing as P4K made it out to be (surprise!), but about half of it was pretty cool. I guess they've dropped the DFA and the ubiquitous Danger Mouse is producing the new album.

Unbelievable. Now you all already know (or you should) that Jason Molina has 3 releases scheduled for this year, one under his own name (Let Me Go, Let Me Go, Let Me Go) and two under the Magnolia Electric Co moniker (Nashville Moon and Fading Trails. What you didn't know is that he has already completed 3 other albums! Embarassment of riches is an understatement. One is a collaboration with David Lowery of Camber Van Beethoven fame, and will also be credited to Magnolia Electric Co (The Black Ram). The other two are The Shohola Album and The Sun Studio Sessions. They won't come out until sometime next year, but this is insanity (and I mean that in the best possible way). Molina for president. Red Face

I really can't complain myself cause Molina is da man to me. I love the dude.

Hey Raving...I see that you really dig this Ladyhawk band and their new cd...I see that they are currently backing up Magnolia Electric for a load of dates on this summer tour. Can you describe their sound?

Thanks

Dean

Yeah, Ladyhawk's kind of got a Crazy Horse thing going. Alt-country-rock type I suppose. Their best songs are their faster, louder ones, which is most of the CD. I actually just listened to their album again, and it wasn't quite as good as I remembered it being, but it's still quite good. Top 10 first half for sure.

I don't think there's anything about Ladyhawk I'd describe as alt-country. They do occasionally implement Neil Young's trademark reverb heavy grungy guitar sound, so I can see where you got the Crazy Horse comparsion, but it's a little poppier than anything you'll find on a Neil Young album.

It's weird that you're falling out of love with this album RL, because I seem to be enjoying it a little more.

I'm looking forward to CSS's release next week. It could either be generic pop fare, or it could be this years LCD Soundsystem. Their single, Let's Make Love and Listen to Death From Above, is catchy enough, albeit pretty derivative. My eagerness for this record is probably fueled by my desire for a truly great pop record for the year. This one's got potential.

I must say I've never even heard of CSS. I'm not surprised though, there's always some stuff round here that has me scratching my head Roll Eyes.
Anyway, in terms of this thread, I can't wait to hear the Bob Dylan and Lambchop albums.
Oh yeah, and Ignacio is settling back into normal society just fine. El Presidente has even put him on the waiting list for emergency housing. .. Big Grin

I`m expecting anxiously the next "The Mars Volta" wich I`m pretty sure will be enormous. Also Velvet Revolver an Incubus who I Think are about to publish new material soon. This year is so far to Stadium Arcadium, which having real bad critics ocurre to be one of the best lps ever, were the name o f th band not RHCP and no one wold review another bad thing about them

I just found out that an The Hotel Alexis, who released one of my underground favorites from 2005 (The Shining Example Is Lying On the Floor), has a new album coming out in September called Goliath, I'm On Your Side. Last year's album was his debut, so I'm amticipating some artistic growth and perhaps a bit more meat (The Shining Example was pretty sparse). I think this has the potential to be really good.

I looks like September is going to be amazing. Other albums I'm looking forwards to in that month: Magnolia Electric Co (x2), Barenaked Ladies, Califone, James Yorkston and the Athletes, Travis Morrison, and possible Alasdair Roberts.

I got the new Mars Volta record. I've heard it once. I really like it so far. It's better than "Francis," at least. I'm an unabashed TMV fan. I can't help it.

Looking forward to the new DJ Shadow and new Mountain Goats. Plus, like I've said a million times here..... NEW MASTODON!!!!!!

The new Peaches album came out today in UK. Roll Eyes Hopefully, it's more like Teaches...and less like Fatherfucker.

As for other albums I'm more likely to purchase, I'm looking forward to the Pipettes release, and if Joan as Policewoman's Real Life is planning to get a release over here (which would be a shame of it didn't seeing as she's a Brooklyner) I'll pick that up.
