What 2006 releases is everyone most looking forward to?
My #1 would have to be Flaming Lips - At War With The Mystics (Or whatever they end up deciding to call it). Then of course there's also the Strokes, the Shins, and (I think) Radiohead and Wilco.
I'm also pretty sure Primal Scream and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are working on albums that I would expect to see in 2006.

By the way, modestryan, who are Jeniferever and Gregory Samsa? I'm just curious and too lazy to look it up myself at the moment.
Radiohead will be released right before the summer. I have read this on multiple occassions. As for Jeniferver and Gregor Samsa... They released E.P.s last year and will be putting out full-lengths in 2006. I highly recommend both. Both are from overseas.
Wilco (!!!!) Cat Power The Fiery Furnaces The Flaming Lips Radiohead Explosions in the Sky Mogwai Walkmen Primal Scream The Wrens
And I'm not much of a fan of Sufjan's "state" albums, but I did love Seven Swans. Still, I'm not much looking forward to his next release; I probably won't have another non-state-affiliated album until he's like 80-something.

I'm looking forward to the new Richard Ashcroft, the Raconteurs (I hate the White Stripes but love Brendon Benson, so it's a curiosity thing at his point), the Shins, and Wilco (if it comes out in 2006...label friends tell me that's iffy). I'm also excited about the new Soul Asylum record (their first in a while) and the speculated Bloc Party, Furtureheads, and Travis records for mid to late 2006.
There's a new Radiohead song on the benefit comp Help! A Day in the Life that's mostly Thom and a piano and it's, well, dull. I hope the full length has more energy than the track which, to be fair, was written and recorded in a day, as were all tracks on the disc.

Definintely Radiohead, Neko Case, Cat Power, Sufjan Stevens, and Wilco. Also Fefe Dobson and The Faders (US release.) Any one know what state is next to be done by Sufjan Stevens? If it is a state?

There was talk about an Oregon Christmas record, but I imagine they'll wait until next year for that one. I also think he was working on Rhode Island and one other state I can't remember right now. Check the Sufjan thread in the Indie forum.

Not sure how many of these will have releases next year-
Bevis Frond, Black Keys, The Raconteurs (or anything from the White Stripes), BBQ, Wilco, Neko Case, Son Volt/Jay Farrar, Flaming Lips, Surf Coasters, Femi Kuti, Keren Ann, Belle & Sebastian, The Strokes and the Neil Young box sets (maybe those should be listed as "anticipated before my death releases").

I've heard final versions of some of the tracks off of The Strokes' new one, First Impressions of Earth. I know The Strokes catch a lot of flak for being derivative of not just bands like Television and The Velvet Underground, but themselves as well. However, I really enjoy their music and I'm happy to say that the new stuff sounds like they are finally willing to switch things up, if not quite as much as they could have. "Razor Blade" is a particularly excellent song, with chiming, cascading guitars and a nicely cathartic chorus (even if it does sound an awful lot like Barry Manilow's "Mandy", as Paste pointed out in their review). Middle Eastern rhythms, Motown beats, drunkenly swooning pop: there's a lot going on, and it should make for a very compelling listen come January.
