Yeah, I also got a PM stating that he wanted to do it and I replied to send me the write-up but no write-up yet.

By the way, just because I was wondering, but you seem to love that album by Brightback Morning Light but isn't it Brightblack Morning Light?

""Boys and Girls in America" by The Hold Steady is a lyrical narrative set to blazing guitars and anthemic choruses. Like much great artwork, Craig Finn's lyrics give attention and find beauty in the banalities of life; in this case, bar-hopping, partying, drinking to excess, and the inevitable feelings of regret the next morning. Familiar characters such as Gideon, Holly, and Charlemagne are presented in tales of gambling, partying, and yes, falling in love. The new prominence of keyboards in The Hold Steady's songs enhances first pumping epics like "Stuck Between Stations", "Chips Ahoy", and "The First Night". Despite some possible juvenility of the characters, they aren't portrayed as marginalia in society, but instead exalted in a glorious presentation of the American dream in alternative form. "Boys and Girls in America" questions whether this dream is really getting as rich as possible - or getting through life as richly as possible. "Boys and Girls in America" makes this question a lot of fun."
Umm, you had been the only one to send me a write-up for The Hold Steady album so I was probably going to use it but now that you posted your write-up everyone will see it twice.

Also guys here are the albums that I still need reviews for, number in parenthesis is how many write-ups I have been sent for that respective album:
1. TV On the Radio – 1016 (2)
2. Joanna Newsom – 870 (1)
3. The Hold Steady – 806 (1)
4. The Decemberists – 600 (2)
5. Destroyer – 584 (0)
6. The Knife – 532 (0)
7. Liars – 489 (1)
8. Neko Case – 445 (0)
9. Beirut – 434 (0)
10. Band of Horses – 395 (1)
11. Grizzly Bear – 337 (0)
12. Thermals – 331 (0)
13. Yo La Tengo – 318 (0)
14. Tom Waits – 296 (1)
15. Bob Dylan – 293 (1)
16. Thom Yorke – 291 (0)
17. Islands – 281 (0)
18. Califone – 268 (0)
19. Belle and Sebastian – 354 (0)
20. M Ward – 243 (1)
Just keep in mind that the write-up should be between 4-6 sentences and maybe one to two paragraphs long. I got two pretty long-winded write-ups (20+ sentences, 4+ paragraphs) that will need to be shortened so just keep that in mind when writing your write-ups. Thanks again.

Yeah, sorry. I didn't realize they were supposed to be that short. You're welcome to cut anything you'd like out of mine - you're the editor Cool

My bad, I didn't even realise it ended up in the top 20. I haven't been on the year end lists for a couple of weeks...needed a break from all the year end hubub. Will get it to you soon. Cheers.

Could be, Frag. I downloaded it from eMusic and just scribbled something on the CD.

If by Friday nobody's done Yo La Tengo, I'll knock it out. Don't let me keep anyone else from doing it who has interest, though.

mark f said he wanted to do it, but he is usually pretty busy so give him until Friday, if he hasn't it by then then you can do it Hophead. And I know for a fact that ericg75 wanted to do The Thermals, but he hasn't sent anything yet. I know he is reading this though... Cool

No, Hoppy, you do YLT!! I'd rather read somebody else's review than mine!

I think Raving should do the Knife, but if he doesn't show, somebody create an original one please.

If somebody else wants a crack at it, that's cool too. I haven't got around to it yet. Of the albums that are left, I'm only really comfortable writing about the Thermals and Destroyer, so if you don't have either by Friday, I'll knock it out.

I’ll be Ben Gazzara, you’ll be Gena Rowlands.

I haven't received any of the 7 album write-ups I still need so I will check it tomorrow in the morning so I can post something by tomorrow afternoon/night. I guess if I don't get much of a response then we can just try this idea again at the end of this year for 2007.

I have begun to work on the write-ups now, I don't have all of the write-ups needed but I figured that it wouldn't be fair for the people that did contribute to not have their writing noticed and viewed by all. Some people actually did like the idea and sent me in write-ups that I feel I should use.

Anyways, the following are the albums I still need write-ups for, if anyone wants to do them you can send me the write-up through a PM from now until I post the final thing, thanks:

5. Destroyer – 584 (0)
6. The Knife – 532 (0)
12. Thermals – 331 (0)
13. Yo La Tengo – 318 (0)
16. Thom Yorke – 291 (0}

Well, now that this Thing of Beauty is up, I'm sure we'll get a Yorke write-up. Thanks for all the work and the original idea too! Cool
