Yeah, send me something like this: quote: Originally posted by FragileKidA: Like I said, just PM me some albums (up to 5 max), maybe two of those that you really want to do and why, and the description you would like for those specific albums, so it would look something like this: Hey, I want to write about maybe these five albums (not all five need to picked, maybe one or two so a lot of people can write), they are blah, blah, blah, blah, and blah. I especially would like to write for the third and fifth one (this would help narrow it down.) Here is what I would write. 1)……, 2)…..and so on.
But to be fair, make it good because I am sure there will be plenty of Cookie lovers.
Should I make it impartial (just a basic genre description or something like that) or should I include my own opinion?

Whatever floats your boat, but if I were you I would include my opinion since it is you that likes it so much and you are writing it. Plus I am sure a lot of people know what it sounds like so maybe like 50% opinion, 50% description (using stuff that maybe we haven't heard.)

Ok, I have received a few already, I still would like a lot of other people that are considered "regulars" to send me their lists with write-ups like Carlito's Way, leland, LT, RL, ericg, Mark F, Yay!, pE, PRG, Sideshow Bob, and heck even Bob/Art. Sorry if I forgot anybody, it was not intentional.

I will, but I'm going to wait to see what the final list ends up being, so you probably won't get it until mid-next week

Attention, Please!I have it on good authority that you guys need to start sending your actual write-ups to FKA. Come on fellas and fellettes, you're all opinionated and write well, so get 'em in.

We still don't even know the final tally for the Best Albums of 2006 thread. I don't know about you, but I don't really feel like writing a review of an album that I'm not even sure will make it to the top 20.

I second that. I only wish to do Islands and they're at 22 right now.

Fair enough. I'm pretty confident that none of mine'll make the top 20. I wrote one anyway, but that's just me. I suppose I'm just concerned that after an initial rush of enthusiasm we don't end up with a situation in which no one actually submits any copy. After all, some posters would be pretty confident that their faves are going to be Top 20.

Thanks to RL’s diligent work, you can now send me write-ups for any of the albums that made this list. Heck, I can even do it for the top 40 albums if a lot of people send stuff in, if I don’t get a lot then it will just be the top 20. Instructions on what to send me begin on the first page and continue until now. You can send them up until late Friday night and I will work on it and post it sometime Saturday. This could turn out really cool if people contribute and really want to do it. Thanks again guys and I await your lists.

If anyone is interested--doesn't seem like it--I am heading off to bed now but I will take any write-ups until whenever I get on tomorrow and post something final tomorrow. So far I only have like 5 or 6 write-ups so looks like it will be pretty small. Thanks.

Wait a minute! This is still a good idea, but you have to give people a little time to get their reviews in. It's a good-enough idea to wait until you have it the way you want it. No matter what anybody says, 2006 isn't old news yet. We still have the Pazz and Jop poll to bitch about next month! I sent my long-winded review in last night. Maybe you can tell us some of the albums which still need reviews. That might make it easier for people to narrow their picks and actually turn in something we can use.

1. TV On the Radio – 1016 (2) 2. Joanna Newsom – 870 (0) 3. The Hold Steady – 806 (0) 4. The Decemberists – 600 (1) 5. Destroyer – 584 (0) 6. The Knife – 532 (0) 7. Liars – 489 (0) 8. Neko Case – 445 (0) 9. Beirut – 434 (0) 10. Band of Horses – 395 (1) 11. Grizzly Bear – 337 (0) 12. Thermals – 331 (0) 13. Yo La Tengo – 318 (0) 14. Tom Waits – 296 (1) 15. Bob Dylan – 293 (1) 16. Thom Yorke – 291 (0) 17. Islands – 281 (0) 18. Califone – 268 (0) 19. Belle and Sebastian – 354 (0) 20. M Ward – 243 (0) These are the top 20 albums and the number in parenthesis is the number of write-ups I have received for those albums. I am pretty much set for TVotR, Tom Waits and Bob Dylan as I have some pretty stellar write-ups and I am set for The Decemberists, Joanna Newsom and M. Ward as I can do those. As for everything else, I need a lot of stuff!! I will gladly wait until this coming Friday (Jan. 26) for more write-ups so I can post something more than likely on Monday to give me ample time to work on it. If anyone is interested just read what to send on the first page and PM me your write-ups, thanks.

I'm hurt I wasn't used as the example for Joanna Newsom.

Does this mean you won't use my write-up of Brightback Morning Light?

Well, sorry but that album didn't crack the final top 20, let alone the top 40. So, unfortunately, I can't use it. I offered to do the write-ups for the top 40 albums but I don't even have enough contribution for a top ten at that. If it had cracked the top 40 then maybe we could have seen but even at that--well let's just hope more people contribute.

Il Mago said he'd do Return to the Sea. See Jan. 17.
