Several albums from 2006 have impressed me more recently than when they came out, primarily Mastodon, Boris and Girl Talk.

Really Digging Solomon Burke's Country Cover Album "Nashville" Opener "How I Got to Memphis" has to be one of the best vocal performances of last year. So earthy and natural and real.

[Roots and Crowns], Pretty Little Head, The Black Parade, Orphans, and Joseph Arthur's Nuclear Daydream have been in heavy rotation lately, but mostly just because I didn't get around to them in 2006.

My 2006 list remains almost identical...'Sno Angel still an easy number 1, followed by Silent Shout, Gulag Orchestra, Rubies, and Black Cadillac...

Listened to this a lot in Nov.

Then forgot about it. It's really good, I'm gonna go grab it.

Poverty has somewhat curtailed my usual record buying spree so I'm still listening to a lot of 2006 releases, in particular:

The Hold Steady
Augie March
Destroyer
Neko Case
Joanna Newsom

In all seriousness, though, Say It Right was probably one of the best pop tunes of 06.

I was just listening to a playlist of my favorite songs from 2006, and I was amazed at how much I loved The Hold Steady's "Chips Ahoy!"

Hot Chip. Really liked this album. "And I was a boy from school is still phenomenal".

Guillemots - Through the Windowpane.

I'm in hopeless love with this album.

I've also forgotten how beautiful Joanna Newsom's Ys is. I can see why people described it as a masterpiece.

"Post-War" by M. Ward has become one of my regular listens, as well.

I'm too harsh on 2006 sometimes. It's just that 2005 and 2007 have such a glut of great music that 2006 seems to pale in comparison.

The Knife
Neko Case
Joanna Newsom

I haven't listened to as much of 2006 as I thought I would. It's just so annoying how time has to march forward inexorably, pressing every last shred of patience amd courage out of me, when all I wanna do is sit down confortably under a sprawling elm tree and rediscover '06 for endless dayz and weeks.
