I loved the first spiderman but the precense of the amazing Doc Ock is enough for me to say that the second Spidey is slightly better.
I chose Spiderman 2 because Sam Raimi has really managed to bring Spiderman and the atmosphere of those comic books to life! Unlike Bryan Singer who made 2 good X Men films but totally screwed up the personnalities of every single character!!! It shows that he wasn't a X Men fan before making the films!
I though Hulk was wrongly underrated, ok nothing happens in the first 30 minutes but the film itself is made with some brilliant camera techniques and some fine acting and directing.
It is hard for me to pick a favorite in this topic because I have been such a huge comic book fan for years and still have a decent collection. I absolutely loved both Spiderman flicks. Because of my love for comics, I was able to enjoy Hulk. People gave it so much crap, but I enjoyed the way Ang Lee was able to make us feel like we were really watching the scenes straight out of a comic book. The X-Men series has always been one of my favorites and I can't wait for the next sequel. This series could go on forever as far as I'm concerned. I am also very excited about Iron Man (if it's done right).
You really should have made this thread about Comic Book movies in general because there are so many other great comic book movies that aren't from the Marvel Universe, including one of my favorites: Batman.

Yea, well you see this one? This was my dream, my wish....and it didn't come true. So I'm taking it back, I'm taking them all back. -Face
I have a little problem with the first Spiderman. It is not really a big deal, but I wanted to see at least one of their faces. I would have liked to see some emotion in their facial expressions. Raimi fixed that in the second one.
I am sad to see Brian Singer leave the X-Men series because he did such a kick ass job, especially with the second one. But I am excited that he is taking on Superman, which is FINALLY going to get started.
I would also like to say that if I see another bad Batman movie, I'm going to lose it. The last two made me want to vomit. There is a reason why George Clooney actually apologized for making the last one. I am pretty impressed by all of the pre-production stuff i have seen so far for Batman Begins. Talk about an all-star cast!

Spider Man 2 is tops for me, but I thoroughly enjoyed all the other films on the list. There are a lot of great Marvel comics that are being talked about for adaptation. Iron Man could be a decent one. I am pretty scared about the possibility of Nicholas Cage playing Ghost Rider. I have heard Silver Surfer mentioned, which would be way to difficult to do properly, and if they have to change his story, they shouldn't do it at all. Fantastic Four could go either way, although I think the casting of Jessica Alba as Sue Richards was terrible. The major thing for me will be whether or not Doctor Doom is done right, if not, I will be choked. There is a Man-Thing movie that has been sitting on the shelf for two years which is not a good sign, disappointing to me, as that was one of my favorite comics in my youth. Another favorite comic I hear they are adapting, is Deathlok, about a soldier turned into a cyborg. The possible Thor movie has the potential to be amazing! The Black Panther could be very entertaining. The one that could reap the highest rewards if the proper writer and directors were found, would be Doctor Strange! The visual and storytelling possibilities would be unlimited, perhaps something for say, Terry Gilliam?! Anyone else have any ideas or opinions...
"If it were beneficial, their father would produce children already circumcised from their mother. Rather, the true circumcision in spirit has become profitable in every respect." -Jesus, from the Gospel Of Thomas
Yeah, Terry Gilliam would be a good choice for Doctor Strange.
I dunno, I think Nicolas Cage is a good enough actor to pull off The Ghost Rider, it's the Film itself I'm worried about! I mean, it isn't exactly easy to make a film about a guy with a fiery skull and a motorcycle convincing!!
As for the Silver surfer, I just love the Comics but I really can't see how they could turn that into a movie.
I'm sure Iron Man is gonna be great, especially if Tom Cruise is on board (I know some people don't like him as Iron Man but I think it's a good choice)
I think that Halle Berry is a good actress and she's hot as hell, but she's come down with a case of Ben Afleck Syndrome. She started out in good movies and then drifted over to the high budget, bad hollywood movies. My vote for this has to go to X-men 2. Spiderman was good but not great, Spiderman 2 had good action but not that great a story in my opinion, Hulk was a bit too strange, and X-men 1 was good but not quite as good as 2. I dont care if Singer didnt portray the characters correctly. I liked how they were done. Especially Nightcrawler who was extremely cool especially in the first scene at the white house.

Hey jakal, check it out, if Halle Berry went to hell she'd have to change her name to...wait for it...HELL-E BERRY!!! Geddit? huh? geddit? see what I did there? huh?....ooooh boy....I need a drink...
Electra looks bad. But Daredevil WAS bad, so there's a predigree.
I'll take Jennifer Garner as a spy on TV over Jennifer Garner as a martial arts superhero in the movies.
Sadly, the Daredevil movie took a dark, moody comic (and character) and neutered the whole thing. TERRIBLE casting (with the exception of Colin Farrell as Bullseye) helped sink that ship. The absolute lack of chemistry and sexual tension between Affleck and Garner (which is funny, because they're now dating!) sort of ruined the tormented romance angle.
Marvel movies have been hit (Spider Man, the X-Men) and miss (Hulk, Daredevil) so far...I'm waiting for the next good one that's NOT a Spidey or an X-Men flick...

Apparently the Director's Cut of "Daredevil" is quite good which goes to show that the battle for a PG-13 rating can sink a movie. And I didnt really see anything at all wrong with "Hulk" except the sloppy ending. I believe it's every bit as good as the first "Spiderman".

It seems like just another Hollywood Blockbuster; plotless, only set out to make money. Im surprised they started marketing so late, doesnt it come out this month or soon???

I'm not a big Hulk fan in the comics (I liked it better when it was called Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde) but I really found the Hulk film to be unimpressive. I thought the CGI was a little too fake, the acting (particularly by Jennifer Connelly, who I like) to be wooden, and, as you point out, the ending to be really weak. While Daredevil (the threatrical cut) was just plain bad, the Hulk wasn't bad...it was just so-so, which might be worse. At least with a really BAD movie, you've got grounds to whine and complain and make fun...a so-so movie just makes you feel like you wasted your time. Maybe if I were a bigger Hulk fan, I'd feel different.

I agree completely that "Hulk" was "So-so." Nothing special, at all, the animation was rather stupid, there wasn't any acting to speak of, and the plot was pretty bad. But it wasn't bad enough to actually call it "Bad"
Electra seemed extremely dull and pointless after viewing the trailer and E.M. is right is does come out sometime in January, but they just started advertising for it. I don't want to make false assumptions but, don't expect anything good to come of "Elektra."
