Well, I watched this on TV when I was a little kid, then it disaappeared. Frank Sinatra apparently had some control over the rights, and since JFK was one of his buds, he withdrew it from circulation. I just watched the original with my family, and after watching the commercial for the new one, what were they thinking? I sure hope that the new one is good, but the original rivals "Dr. Strangelove" as the greatest political satire of all-time. That's putting it mildly. The ending is incredible.
I hope that everyone who enjoys or hates the new one checks out the old one. That is the definition of "they don't make 'em like they used to !!!!"

I love the original film ... I don't quite understand why they are making a new one, why they seem to be giving away the whole thing in the ads or ... well, anything.
Frank Sinatra is great in that movie, and I have soft spot for that movie since the Frank Sinatra/Janet Leigh relationship reminds me of my own ("I called up my fiance and told him I couldn't marry him becaue I met you.")
But part of the great thing about that movie is the way you kind of know what's going on, but there's still some mystery. The commercial for hte remake seems to tell you exactly what's goig on in 30 seconds. But maybe that's only because I've seen the original and maybe it's not so apparent to others.
