Oh, I forgot to tell you guys in yesterday's report that along with more "Iron Man" animated movies, there will also be a "Dr. Strange" one, as well. There is a featurette on the "Iron Man" DVD & it looks like it's going to have some major action. It also seems to be an origin story because in the preview the Doctor has no idea what he's looking at when he catches a glimpse of an otherworldly monster.
I also just found out that Warner Bros. is wanting to bring DC's "Metal Men" to the big screen. The story is about a brilliant scientist & his 6 highly advanced robot creations. Their powers are based off of their respective metals-gold, iron, lead, tin, mercury, & platinum.
Hopefully, the second "Fantastic 4" movie does well, because there are plans for a third.
As far as "The Incredible Hulk" news, Rhythm & Hues will be creating the effects for the movie. They also did the effects for "Superman Returns". Still no word on if the Hulk will be CG or a costume. Hopefully they go CG, a costume or even a muscle-bound actor could ever do the big guy justice.

1. Spider-Man Unarguably the single greatest comic book film ever, in my mind. It uses the classic Good vs. Evil battle, filled with a mixtured of long lasting stories, amazing actors, and great action. Raimi is one hell of a director in my book. This is the film that got me into comics.
2. 300 So far the best film of 2007. Absolutely gorgeous. You feel that they truly are standing for freedom, and you root for the heroes the entire movie. Incredible acting, scripts, and, most of all, action. A movie for the ages.
3. X-Men 2 Very close to "300", and was originally my second favorite. Wolverine at his best(way better than his comic version). The character developement and sense of true danger is astounding.
4. Hellboy A smart minded and action packed whopper that is one of my all-time favorite movies. Ron Perliman(sp?) just simply cannot be touched ina his brilliant performance as one of the most likable heroes in centuries.
5. Teenage Mutant Turtles Oh, come on! Even in High School, people talk about the Ninja Turtles! And which version does everyone like the most? Why the original live action version, of course! The puppetry work so well, and the Ninja Turtles are as cool as they ever have been. And no superhero film is good without a supervillain. Shredder fits the bill. In a million years, I could not come up with an arch foe for them as good as Shredder. He's everything they are not, and then some, and his costume is one of the best villain suits in movie history. It's a classic design with a newer take. Honestly, this movie is one of the best out there.
6. Spider-Man 2 One of the greatest sequels of all time, "Spider-Man 2" manages to up the action and special effects into a super showdown spectacular. Dr. Octopus is at his best as Alfred Molina brings a new heart and soul into the character.
7. Sin City Frank Millar's original masterpieace before "300", "Sin City" is a down and dirty film that captures the very anger within ourselves and creates a movie of incredible porportions. Yellow Bastard and Michael Clarke Duncan's character(forgot his name) are two of the most notorious movie villains in years.
8. The Mask Very entertaining and fun movie that is unarguably the best Jim Carrey could ever offer. The mind boggling special effects(even by today's standards!) perfectly lay in to the comedic story of a wacky troublemaker that gets everyone mad at him, and his host must put his courage to the test. A must see.
9. Blade Beats "Blade 2" by a punch(and I never saw "Blade Trinity"), "Blade" perfectly lays out the story of the man/vampire hybrid as he takes on the evil Deacon Frost. Frost is the perfect opponent for Blade, and helps along the tragic story. But, of course, Blade steals the show with all of his coolness. The moment Blade goes bloodlust, you scream and hollar.
10. V For Vendetta A dark message-bringing tale of freedom and courage, "V" was the best film of 2006 until "Rocky Balboa" knocked it down to second. V was an awesome character, and the whole struggle for democracy was brilliant. A must see.
11. Guyver 2 An underappreciated movie that turned out to be what the first would never have thought of being: Dark, serious, violent, murky, and, most of all, well done. The Zoanoids are even nastier than before, and the character developement fills out this classic straight-to-video masterpiece.

Not a bad list there, Awesome Man. Not too bad at all. Here's My Top 10, from my most favorite on down: 1."Sin City" Director's Cut-This movie was made near DEAD ON to the comic & is my most favorite so far. It is, in fact my "default movie". If I can't decide what to watch, I pop this in & enjoy. The director's cut is great, because if I don't have much time, I can just watch one of the stories!
2."Batman Begins"-This one finally gave the Dark Knight some much needed dignity & told his origin in a way that had never been done before.
3."Blade 2"-The best of the trilogy, if only because it finally had a director who knew what a comic book movie was all about. Outrageous action!
4."Hulk"-Not many people liked this one, but I loved it. They stayed true to what the Hulk was.
5."V for Vendetta"-The most intriguing comic story, yet. A whole lot of story & not alot of action, but what action it did have, FANTASTIC!
6."Daredevil" Director's Cut-This was soooo much better than the theatrical version. It was a whole different movie & was truer to a superhero's personality. Example, in this version, Matt ditches Elektra to fight crime instead of putting off his "duty" for some "booty". I was upset with the theatrical version, because if you're going to go so far as to put on a costume to fight crime, nothing will prevent you from doing so. Period.
7."Hellboy-Who doesn't enjoy watching a demon whoop @ss?
8."The Mask"-Even though it wasn't as violent as the comic, I still loved it for its humor. They actually combined quite a few characters in Stanley Ipkiss, having him do the many actions of the different people who wore the Mask in several comics. The sequel didn't need Jim Carrey if they would've consulted the comics at all! How interesting would it have been to have a woman wear the Mask? That's the story in 'The Mask Returns'!
9."Mystery Men-This movie was hilarious to me. Having superheroes who didn't really have true superpowers was brilliant! They took this Dark Horse title & just ran with it!
10."Men in Black"-This was a fantastic movie. It makes me wonder how they even thought of bringing this failed comic to life. It was cancelled years ago for lack of interest! The sequel could have been so much more than a crappy rehash.
"300" would be number 11 for me. These movies are what I look at as being truest to the material & are, therefore, at the top of the heap. I do like "Spider-Man", but the small changes Raimi made were huge to me. Now that he has changed it even further in this third installment, I'm just going to be shaking my head in disgust for most of the movie. However, I'm sure I'll enjoy it anyway. Same with the "X-Men" movies. I liked them okay, but Singer just had to change so much about my favorite characters that it just fries my hash upon each viewing. Don't get me started on "Spawn"! I'll just say, they need to start getting a truer, darker Spawn into production. It's a sad day when the cartoon is bloodier than the movie.
When I go to a Comic-Based Movie, I go wanting it to be as close to the original material as possible. The closer it is, the happier I am!

You do like some great flicks there, Awesome Man . Alot of them have my favorite action moments of all time ! I remember going to see "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" in the theater. How young I was! Where does the time go?! I do respect the first "Blade" because it showed everyone a comic-based movie didn't HAVE to be aimed at the kiddies, but "Blade II" had the comic book feel to it. With the exaggerated fight sequences & stunts that seemed to have leapt from the pages of a comic, it is THE comic movie all others should strive to equal! I believe it was this movie that led to the production of "Sin City". "X2: X-Men United" did finally let Wolverine show that he's the best at what he does! However, Lady Deathstrike is a whole lot more dangerous when she's not a mindless slave! She had a GOOD REASON to hate our boy James Howlett (aka Wolverine, interesting facts: Logan was the name of the first person he killed & he got his codename because he was a good digger, NOT because he was a scrapper!) & it would have been sooooo much more interesting to let their relationship come through on the big screen! Good choices, though. I also like the reasons as to why they're your favorite. Nice touch !
Here's a little bit more news, David Goyer has been hired to do the script for "Green Arrow". Let's hope he uses the talent he had for the first 2 "Blade" movies & not from the third . As for you "Ghost Rider" fans, it will be on DVD & Blu-Ray June 12th! You'll have two choices, either the single disc theatrical version or the two-disc extended cut with 15 minutes of never-before-seen footage with over 2 hours of special features! Sure, it wasn't the ULTIMATE comic movie, but MAN, did I enjoy it! Besides, the extended cut might turn out to be the same as "Daredevil"'s! WHOO-HOO! That would be sweeeet!
Oh! For a little bit of "Spider-Man 3" news, it will actually have 4 villains! Well, sorta. Bruce Campbell has had a cameo in each Spidey flick, so far, & this one is no exception. However, instead of a no-name-bit-part, he will be Quentin Beck! Who is Quentin Beck? Why, he's Mysterio! In the comics, Beck started out as a stuntman & special effects wizard that screwed up a stunt, Spider-Man intervened & saved the lives of the actors. This cost Beck his job & reputation, & he blames Spidey for it all! He goes on to become Mysterio, using his knowledge of illusions & pyrotechnics, he has an arsenal of smoke jets, holographic lasers, mirrors, explosives, & hypnotic aids! This man is on a mission to destroy our favorite Web Slinger! I'm betting his origin will come out in the movie & his alter ego will be in a later film. No word on if Campbell will reprise the roll.

Hey, do you guys wanna see what Iron Man is going to start out as in the movie? Check it out!!! Not too bad at all!!! Looks like they're going the way of the comics & having him start out in the clunky grey suit & work up to the beautiful red & gold later in the movie. I'm getting more & more excited as the date gets closer & closer. Of course, it doesn't come out until next year, so I'm gonna be ready to burst by that time !
Oh yeah! Don't forget about 'Painkiller Jane'! It starts tonight at 10/9C on the Sci/Fi channel! I'll be watchin' it & I'll post a review on it after it's over. Hopefully, it won't suck monkey butt!

Whoa! 'Painkiller Jane' isn't that bad at all! It started with a small girl mowing down some kids with a machine gun! Okay, it was her imagination, but still! The acting isn't too bad, for a Sci/Fi Channel show. It has some "Wizard of Oz" references, such as 'The Emerald City' & clicking your heels 3 times. The story is pretty solid. There is a conspiracy of individuals, somehow, gaining mind-control abilities. They can make anyone do whatever is needed, even kill themselves. This is how Jane is originally "killed". They take control of her partner & he throws her out of the window. 40 stories later, she wakes up in a body bag & stumbles back to work. She ends up having regenerative abilities, when she is cut, it heals instantly. There is no explanation for this...Yet. She is as confused by her new abilities as we are! The action at the end was pretty good, indeed! She ends up getting shot multiple times only to make it to her intended target, anyway! I'm gonna be checkin' this out every week, definetly ! It wasn't "out of this world", but we'll see how the story pans out. I know lots of shows that started out a little iffy, & then ended up being rather good. It does have some great potential. Sooooo, we'll see! B-

I've got some sorta good news & some very bad news . The good news is Laurence Fishburne might be the voice of Galactus in "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer". However, he'll only speak about 5 words, but that ain't the bad news. The bad news is, this movie SUCKS! It has been tested in Seattle & the reaction was not good. In fact one person was quoted as saying this movie was "Sooo bad." This is terrible news, indeed. I can't believe this! How could they mess up a story involving the Silver Surfer & Galactus?! To think, there are plans for a third . I hope they either change writers or the director. We need SOMEONE that knows what they're doing!

EDWARD NORTAN HAS BEEN CAST AS BRUCE BANNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's some pretty good casting. He's small, skinny, & nerdy looking, but not in a bad way. So to summarize, the movie will be called "The Incredible Hulk" & is being directed by Louis Leterrier. He's directed "Transporter" & "Unleashed". Pretty good examples of action & angst. In "Unleashed" Jet Li was basically the Hulk. He was meek & quiet until he was "unleashed" & started whoopin' @ss! The script has been written by Zak Penn, he wrote 2 of the 3 "X-Men" flicks & the first "Fantastic Four". Let's hope he has better talent for this project than he did for "Fantastic Four". He did alright with the "X-Men" movies, so we probably don't have anything to worry about. Hopefully .
The story won't be a retelling of his origin, but will pretty much pick up where the last left off. Banner is on the run & trying to cure himself. This is what kicks off him turning gray! As the Gray Hulk, he only changes at night. He has a shorter temper & his strength is based off of the cycles of the moon, he's strongest during the New Moon & weakest during the Full Moon. I'm sorry, I thought his transformation was permanant, but that doesn't happen until he turns himself green again. THEN there's no more Banner in human form. I was right about him being the weakest version, though. However, he could still kick anyone's @ss that messes with him! My favorite incarnation is the Gray Hulk because he wears suits & is just a mean cuss !
We have a description for the Joker in "The Dark Knight" (When do you think they'll stoop to using numbers instead of all these title changes? Geez, they have more names for the movies than they do comics based off of the character!). The Joker will have gray skin & lot's of scarring & his costume will be tattered & raggedy. They are also making him look very scary, not clownish. Joker, scary? Okaaaaay, I just hope they aren't going to destroy the insane character I fell in love with. The Joker didn't have to be scary in appearance, he was scary in his thoughts! He thinks death is funny! Well, at least when it's someone else who's doing the dying ! Warner Bros. will be releasing pictures this summer during the shooting of the movie in Chicago.
That's all the news for now. See ya in the funny pages!

Ha Ha! Hey, that reminds me, I used to own a spider monkey, too! But, it was creepy. The hair was all stiff & wire-like & they have no thumbs. I sold her because she screeched like you wouldn't believe! I only owned her for about 2 weeks, so I guess that's why I forgot about her. Thanks for the memory, Ish-man !
Back to the topic at hand, I have just a little more comic movie news! Simon Pegg, of "Shaun of the Dead" fame, has said he would like to play Rorshach in "Watchmen" & he'll probably have a part in "Ant-Man". A comic actor playing Rorshach? Pegg hasn't disappointed in any of his roles, so far, but I don't know about this one.
In "Spider-Man" news, Raimi may not be back for a fourth round. Seems a choice has been laid out before him. He can either direct a fourth Spidey film or "The Hobbit". I know this part isn't comic related, but just in case you don't know, Peter Jackson is feuding with New Line & has been banned from directing anymore movies for them. Thus, leaving "The Hobbit" without a director. If Raimi directs, it won't have a single actor from "The Lord of the Rings" movies, because they've sided with Jackson. So this means we'll have someone else in the shoes of Bilbo & Gandalf.
That's all the news for now. See ya in the funny pages!

Spider monkeys have no thumbs? So, how do they hitch a ride?
Hee, hee, on to the matter at hand...The actors have sided with Jackson?....not surprising.
I actually consider The Hobbit a better book than the Ring Trilogy, which I find mostly unreadable. Raimi would be a good choice though. But I can think of better, like Guillermo Toro.

Yeah, but it still sucks. Jackson is just being greedy & for them to side with the bad guy in the scenario just doesn't make sense . He signed a contract & got what he was owed, but because the movies were more successful than anyone could have forseen, he wants more. I HATE WHEN CHARACTERS CHANGE IN A SERIES!!! Stupid actors.

'The Hobbit' was actually the first story I read out of the series. I found the book on a shelf at school when I was in 9th grade & started reading it during Study Hall. I couldn't put it down! After I finished it, I found out there were other books that continued the story & moved on to 'The Fellowship of the Ring'. I only managed to make it halfway through 'The Two Towers' before my life became too busy for reading.

I have to agree with you. Del Torro knows how to shoot in dark caves. Just look at most of his movies, The characters are in sewers in most of them! I was very upset when he didn't do the third "Blade' film. The second was, by far, the best out of the three & that's saying alot for me, because I tend to like the originals so much more. While Raimi hasn't stayed extremely true to the story of "Spider-Man", he's stayed true to the heart of it & I fear what the next director will end up doing to the franchise.
Speaking of "Spider-Man", it turns out that Sandman DID have something to do with Uncle Ben's death, after all! Well, kinda. Sandman's father was framed for the murder of Uncle Ben. However, it turned out that the Chameleon had put a helmut on another person that made them appear to be Uncle Ben & then killed him to frame Floyd Baker (Sandman's father). Telling it like this, it sounds pretty stupid, I guess you just have to read it. The story takes place in issues 17-19 of 'Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man'. I'm pretty sure they aren't going in this direction in the movie, though. I just know they better not kill him! Sandman goes on to become a good guy & joins Silver Sable in the Wild Pack! Hey! Check this out! These are billboards showing the transformation of Spider-Man from Red & Blue to Black! They're already up in Japan, but I haven't seen any around here in Kansas City.
A script is being penned for "The Punisher 2". As soon as that's done, they'll begin filming. They really want this one to be good, so they're putting all they can into the script. Hopefully they can pull it off!

Kansas City 'ey?
Ev'rythin's up to date in Kansas City They've gone about as fur as they c'n go! They went and built a skyscraper seven stories high, About as high as a buildin' orta grow. Ev'rythin's like a dream in Kansas City, It's better than a magic lantern show!
Catch ya later Dorothy!!

NOT KANSAS! KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI!!!! Dorothy... Why I oughta!
Okay, I have a quick correction to make. Fishburne will be A voice in "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer", but not Galactus'. He will be the voice of the Silver Surfer, himself, Norrin Radd! So, Galactus' voice is still a mystery. Guess it doesn't matter too much, anyway. This movie might not be that good. However, I didn't think the first was as terrible as everybody else thought.
The thing that bothered me the most, was The Thing. I really think they should have went CG for him. He just doesn't look like he's made of rock. Some people say that they prefer a costume to CG, but there are certain things that just can't come through in a costume. Take for instance, the Hulk, he MUST be CG. Not even the world's strongest man could do him justice & a costume wouldn't look all that great. Same goes for The Thing. Sure, it sounds like rock, but it looks like, well, crap. Just imagine the detail they could put into the stone if it were CG! I mean, if they can add as much detail as they did to the skin of a dinosaur, Jar Jar, or even Gollem, then it shouldn't be that difficult to make rock look real .
While that sequel isn't very impressive, "Spider-Man 3" amazed China! There was a screening there & the Chinese LOVED IT! They exclaimed it was the best in the series, so far! In other Spider-Man news, Raimi has confirmed he's up for a fourth round, just not yet. He's exhausted & needs a little time off, but he does want to continue the series. I'm happy about that! His changes have been minor, except for that Sandman plot! Why the crap did he have to-- I'll shut up, now. Geez, that just fries my hash, though . Oh, well. Spilled milk, spilled milk, spilled milk ...
