I'm glad you finally got your hands on a copy! I'm also happy to see you weren't as bored with it as a few others claim they were. Big Grin At least you didn't nit-pick it to death like syzygy & Fitz. Was it better than some of the comic-based movies you'd seen, or was it not as good as any of them? In other words, does it belong on the same shelf, for your standards? I have to say, I liked it ALOT more than "Blade Trinity", but not as much as "Batman Begins". According to my brother, "300" is the best movie ever made! Everytime I go to his house, he can't stop talking about it. His favorite slogan has become, "Name a better movie!". Now, there is a MAJOR fan! Wink

Finally got my hands on 300...

ha, ha yes, the release dates here are all outta sync with the US, thats for sure.

D.O.A. for example, has been available for a few weeks now on dvd, but I notice it won't be coming to the States for mths. Don't worry about that too much, its rubbish.

300 is middle ground for me, O my monkey brother; never achieving the heights of Batman Begins, 'cept maybe the first 5 mins; but never ever sinking as low as Blade Trinity (shiver).

I do find myself wanting to watch it again, however, so it may yet creep up the ladder, ha ha...

Over the weekend "TMNT" won the box office war & "300" was finally knocked out of the number 1 spot. However, it is closing in on the $200 million mark! It is still "slaughtering" the competition in South Korea!

In "Sin City 2" news, Johnny Depp & Antonio Banderas have expressed interest in being in the movie. Originally, Depp wanted to play Jackie Boy in the first, but Rodriguez wanted him to have a bigger role. However, scheduling conflicts might keep Depp outta this one. Frank Miller is currently looking for the best part for Banderas.

Well, I hope Depp makes it in; he would make an excellent Sin City character.

More of that comic-based movie news you salivate for! As I told you before, there are plans for 6 "Spider-Man" movies, but Gyllenhaal might not be replacing Maguire, after all. According to a few sources Tobey Maguire & Kirsten Dunst have announced they'll be up for a fourth round if Sam Raimi stays on as director. Raimi still hasn't decided either way.

Steve Carr is waiting to direct "Iron Fist". He says he wants to bring a "kind of dark and almost kind of chop-socky kind of vibe" to it. I'm not sure if the director of such movies as "Dr. Dolittle 2", "Next Friday", & "Rebound" will be able to give the right respect Iron Fist demands. It is the story of a man who has fought a dragon & upon plunging his fists into its heart, he gains the power of the Iron Fist. This movie should be an action/kung-fu flick, but in the hands of this particular director, I can't imagine it being very true to its origins.

Finally, Brett Ratner is rumored to be the director for "Wolverine". A script has been completed & the studio hasn't given any official word on if the rumor is true or not . Ratner has directed "Rush Hour" 1&2 (3 is being filmed now), "Red Dragon", & "X-Men: The Last Stand".

I just picked up "The Invincible Iron Man" & so far, it's pretty good. Shockingly violent for an animated movie, but good, indeed. They've used 3D comuter animation for the Iron Man armor, which looks fantastic! Thanks for the heads up, Ishy! Big Grin

This would be an odd choice. I liked the first Rush Hour and Red Dragon was ok, at least it was better than Hannibal, but the last X-Men movie just stunk. I think they should pick a different director for that Wolverine movie. Do you know if Hugh Jackman would still play him?

Yeah, Jackman is still our favorite mutant that's the best at what he does, but what he does ain't very nice.

I was upset with the third "X-Men" film, too. They changed even more about characters than Singer did, but it did have some major action! I mostly hated the choices in mutants. The spike man was ridiculous, the fast mutant with mutant detecting powers was 3 in one (Quicksilver, Caliban, & Calisto), Juggernaut is not a mutant, & Multiple Man was never a bad guy. Also, having Jean kill the Professor & Cyclops, that would never happen!

Pretty much M_B covered why I didn't like the last X-Men. A lot of stuff just doesn't add up to the comic and not even to the cartoon that would come out on Saturday mornings. I hate it when something is told one way and then someone changes it up, how annoying. I remember Juggernaut and Cyclops having this intense rivarly and where the heck was Gambit? He was always prevalent and he still hasn't been introduced. And what's up with Rogue? Don't even get me started...

Well, just got in from seeing "300", again. I went with my brother, who is the ULTIMATE Spartan fan. When he first seen it, he called me & talked my ear off for a half hour! Even on the way to the theater, today, he was still excited about this movie. Afterwards, he just kept going on & on & on. He's never been like this about any movie he's ever seen! He's actually planning on BUYING this when it comes to DVD! Which is a big deal because he doesn't buy movies, he burns them.

I'm actually worried about Gambit. A few pages back I mentioned why he wasn't in the films & the reason made no sense. They compared his attitude to Wolverine's & said his powers weren't that impressive. The first problem with their thought process is Gambit is a ladies man, not a brawler. He'd rather be impressing a girl, than fight an enemy. However, when all the cards were down (pun intended Wink), he was all about the fight. His power was/is great. He can kinetically charge inanimate objects (not flesh) & basically turn anything around him into a bomb. There are talks of him being in the fourth "X-Men" movie, but I'm afraid he's only going to be as screwed up as Rogue. Frowner

OK, so you guys are upset at changes, and I appreciate that. Smiler

But putting that to one side, don't you think it was a well-made film; well structured, directed, full of nice set pieces??

I own it, so what does that tell ya Wink? While they screwed up alot, it did have quite a few positives. They finally did the Danger Room & the sentinel was a great touch. Kelsey Grammer as Beast was a wonderful choice! The effects were great! And while they screwed up Jean Grey, Wolverine was dead on! His love for her is that deep in the comic, & he would sacrifice his life for her. It was also extremely cool seeing his adamantium skeleton peek through when Jean "wiped" the flesh from it.

How's that, Ishmael? Smiler

TSK, TSK, TSK! Falling asleep during a movie is a NO, NO, Ishmael! I suppose it was alright in your case, since you'd been workin' & probably paid. I remember when "Independence Day" came out, I sooo wanted to see it, but my girlfriend wanted to see "Phenomenon". So, like a good boyfriend, I give in & we see it. Part way through the movie I look over at her & she was fast asleep! I don't go to the theater for these kinds of movies! I go for explosions, battles, aliens, & action. Not to see men who become geniuses overnight. You can imagine how pissed I was!

I've just learned why Harry Osbourne looks so different. He's an entirely different character. He's not the Green Goblin nor is he the Hobgoblin, but he's an "original" character created by Sam Raimi. That's going too far! Why would he do this?! Seems, the original material wasn't good enough. What a crock! He was doing so well until now. So, in the 3rd installment of "Spider-Man" we have Sandman as Uncle Ben's actual killer & Harry taking the "Goblin Serum", but becoming a flying snowboarder instead of the next Green Goblin. Well, at least he did Venom right. Roll Eyes

I just watched the trailer for "Stardust", it looks fantastic. I'm definetly seeing this baby on the big screen! It looks to have some humor & some amazing effects. This oughta be good! It'll be in theaters August 10th! Hot on its heels is "Priest". It's a story of vampires set in the Old West. Based off of the Japanese graghic novel, it's about a warrior Priest who teams with a young Sheriff & a Priestess to save his kidnapped niece from renegade vampires. It'll be in theaters August 17th.

Columbia Pictures has just picked up the rights for "Green Hornet". There are plans for it to be released in Summer 2009.
