Believe it or not, I couldn't hang up all of the comics I wanted to! (I have over 900 of the things.) As for my cards, I "cheated" and bought the complete set. I got ALL of series' II and III doin' that. I tried to get series IV the "right way" (one pack at a time), but I didn't get ONE, stinkin' card: #140 - The Fate of the X-Men This is the ONE series my boy actually managed to complete and he LOVES throwin' it in my face! So, I know exactly how you feel! What... a... turd! Of course, now "The Fate of the X-Men" is no longer a mystery. The traitor ended up being Xavier, himself! All because he mindwiped Magneto after the jerk pulled the adamantium outta Wolverine in X-Men #25. Who woulda thunk that would lead to Onslaught, Operation: Zero Tolerance, and Heroes Reborn?! Good gravy, they milked the crap outta that storyline!

I hope you guys are ready for this! I have the official website for Hellboy II: The Golden Army... COMPLETE WITH TRAILER!!!!!!!!!!!!! It definetly looks like a Guillermo del Toro flick! I'm a tad worried about a few of the effects shots. Especially the last one with the squid creature. I really hope these aren't final! Other than that, looks like it's gonna be in the same vein of the first... only a lot more friggin' monsters!

Re: Hellboy clip: Did anybody else notice on the cinema marquee, 'See You Next Wednesday"? For those not in on the joke, 'See You Next Wednesday' is a fictional film mentioned in many John Landis movies. Look in Trading Places, Coming to America and others where you will see mock up movie posters for this 'film'. Even in Michael Jackson's Thriller clip, characters mention the movie. This long standing trademark of Landis seems to have been inspired from a line in 2001: A Space Odyssey; spoken by an astronaut on a space station to his earthbound wife. What a thrill to see the joke pop up in Hellboy!!!

My fave use of it is in An American Werewolf in London. Here's an image. Later, that's the movie where everybody congregates in Piccadilly Square.

That really was some crazy movie trivia there, Ish-man! To tell you the truth, when I heard "See you next Wednesday" in the "Thriller" video, I always thought that was just a part of the movie! I mean, they're reading a note outloud left behind by the werewolf. At least I think it was left by the werewolf. I don't know WHY he would leave a note or WHY anyone else would, but I distinctly remember that they were reading a note that said "See you next Wednesday". Very , indeed. No new news today, but I found this and figured it might drive a few fanboys crazy to be able to see their favorite actresses dressed as their favorite heroes!

I was just thinkin', it seems Liz Sherman will be going bad in "Hellboy II: The Golden Compass Army". Did you notice that the color of her fire was different? More orange than blue? According to Principal Dondelinger (of 'The Simpsons'), a blue flame indicates sweetness. Apparently, Liz has lost her sweetness in the sequel. I wonder what's gonna happen to cause that. Maybe Hellboy cheats on her. That'd be messed up because he's the ONE man she can't hurt with her powers! So, that could explain why she changed colors. (She's mad as hell and she isn't gonna take it anymore! ) Or maybe the Golden Army took it!

Just got in from seeing "Aliens vs Predator: Requiem " and I haveta say, it was better than I expected. **SPOILERS FOLLOW** (I'm serious! You better not read any further if you don't want anything ruined!) Of course, I didn't go to this movie for a plot or storyline or even character development, so my expectations were mighty low. All talk about this movie NOT being a direct sequel to the first weren't true. In fact, it takes place directly after the first! When the Pred-Alien chestburster is born, it goes about killing the crew until the ship veers to the right and returns to Earth, crashing in a Colorado forest. For some reason, the predators have several facehuggers kept the same way the colonists kept 'em in "Aliens": glass jars filled with water. So when the ship crashes, they're set free to wreak havoc on Smalltown, USA. (It's never mentioned why they had these things when they had a Queen in the first.) The Predator doesn't team up with a human sidekick in this one! He's there to contain and destroy all evidence of their unscheduled arrival. This isn't "hunting season" or a "rite of passage" In fact, by my count, he killed only 2 people: 1 because he saw the Predator at "work" (while he was getting rid of evidence of any and all alien presence) and the other was an "accident" when someone just got in the way as he was takin' out a whole group of those Alien bastards. The coolest things are: WE GET TO SEE THE PREDATOR HOMEWORLD AND THE ONE THAT DOES ALL OF THE FIGHTING IS AN OLD VETERAN!!!! They even use the "Predator's Theme" from the original movies! You know what I'm talkin' about. Most of the movie is following him around. Which was very cool. The Aliens were Aliens. They snuck around and pounced outta nowhere. We do get to see one feasting on human flesh, which was interesting. They use their little mouth! My only real complaint: the fighting ALWAYS took place in the dark! Light up the room for cryin' outloud! That's the reason I went to see the flick! The Pred-Alien was tough as nails. For some reason, it became the leader of the Aliens. Don't ask me why. It also seems to have the ability to mutate a human fetus into several cheststomachbursters. Don't ask me why. They also showed its death in the friggin' trailer. Don't. Ask. Me. Why. There is a budding relationship between a couple teens, but this couple doesn't turn out the way Michael Bay would've wanted it to! Boy... was that shocking and refreshing! Finally, fans get a very special treat at the end, we meet Ms. Yutani. The founder of the other half of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation! In the end, it was fun and they stayed VERY TRUE to what makes a Predator a Predator: No nonsense killing and no care for the human meat running around him! This movie is a "Predator" flick more than an "Alien" one, that's fer sure! If ya wanna go to see a movie that you can just sit back and enjoy the carnage and have a few human characters to root for (I mean, one of 'em does have the little sweetie-pie from "Dark Water" to look after. You wouldn't want her to die... would ya? You heartless jerk! She's just a little girl! I am shocked and appalled. ), this is the one for you! Some things don't make alotta sense, but who cares? It's "Aliens VS Predator"! What can you expect? B-

It was one year ago today that I decided to be the one to take JackietheBlade's advice (in the "Marvel Comic Book Movies" thread) and created a thread for ALL comic-based movies. It seems so long ago. In the beginning, I told myself that if the views stopped climbing, I'd stop adding new posts. (Ya know, since I don't really have too many discussions 'round here.) A year later... it's the 4th most viewed thread on the first page of the Action/Adventure catagory and the only reason for that is because the top 3 had a 2 to 3 year jump on this one! It's certainly been nice unloading all of this info somewhere. This is certainly a unique thread, ain't it? How many others are basically nothing but rumors & news? Regardless, I'm lookin' forward to givin' you guys the news (& rumors) you crave for another year! Just because I'm like that. "Supergirl" is truly the WORST CMB ever made! After watching it I actually contemplated throwing it away, but I figured my daughter might enjoy it when she gets older. Ya know, since it's a female superhero and all. At the same time, I kinda can't get rid of it because if I did, I would NEVER have EVERY COMIC BASED MOVIE EVER MADE! I still don't have that Spawn 4-disc set! I'm also still waiting for the 90's 'X-Men: The Animated Series' to OFFICIALLY come to DVD. What's taking Fox so freakin' long to release 'em? In movie news, Alan Moore discusses his thoughts with Wizard magazine on his comics coming to the big screen. (**SPOILER** He's not happy about it!) Jon Favreau has expressed interest in directing "The Avengers". I won't know if I should back him up until after I've seen what he does with "Iron Man". I'm soooo hoping he can pull this off! (Why is it comic book movies are so friggin' hard to get right?) I just found out Weta will be taking care of the effects work on "Justice League". FINALLY! Some good news on this movie! Soooo, at the very least, it should LOOK good! Remember when I told you guys that Nick Fury (played by Samuel L. Jackson) would be in "Iron Man"? Turns out this is gonna be a connection to "The Incredible Hulk" due out later this year! Could this mean that there is an Iron Man/Hulk crossover at some point? Or is it a prelude to "The Avengers" movie? Or is it just a stupid rumor that will never come to fruition? Only time will tell... In not-really-comic-based-movie-related-but-more- just-comic-related news, here are Marvel's Top 10 villains of 2007. At least ONE of them was in a few movies! See ya in the funny pages!

The wait is over, my breakable child! Would you guys like to know EVERYTHING that's going to happen in "The Dark Knight"? I'm talkin' a "COMPLETE SPOILER"! If you can't wait and don't wanna be surprised at all, check it out! They claim this had been "approved through the production", so it should be what we will see on the big screen this Summer. I ain't gonna read it, but it might be fun to check it out after I see the movie to see just how accurate they were. Oh, and do you guys remember my complaint about the movie poster not having any sign of The Joker? I'm happy now. 'The Swamp Thing' the television series is comin' to DVD January 22nd! Check out the commercial here! How many of you remember Watchmencomicmovie.com? Have you been checkin' it out? Lotta stuff there! Read up on what Snyder plans to do with the costumes, check out pictures of the sets and compare them to what the comic panels looked like, watch interviews with Snyder and the cast and read interviews with Alan Moore! Finally, here's a great book that provides a checklist for EVERY COMIC-TO-SCREEN ADAPTION! It's NOT a coffee table book. It's a reference book. So don't expect this to be a little bedtime reading. Unless you want it to put you to sleep! See ya in the "Film & TV Adaptions of Comics" 2007 edition!

You're very welcome, Ocean of Ishmaels Coffin! As with all comic based flicks, I'm a bit worried as well, but it seems they're really trying to make this a good one! Typinging of screwing up comic based flicks... Liev Schreiber has been cast as Sabretooth in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine". I've NEVER seen Schreiber in a tough role, but he was plenty creepy in "Phantoms". I dunno. Maybe he can do it, but I expected someone tough looking. What the crap happened to Tyler Mane? The last time I posted here I forgot to leave a link to the Iron Man movie wallpaper that I'd found! I've had the 'posing' "Retro Armor" one up since I found it. Oooooooh man, this movie is gonna be too good! At least it better be! Finally, Singer's "Superman: The Man of Steel" has just been green lit for 170 million dollars! Not much news, I know, but when I read that Liev Schreiber was gonna be playin' Sabretooth I just HAD to tell EVERYONE! It's the scariest friggin' news I've read all year!

Howdily doodily, fanboys & girls! Here's a bit more of what you crave! First off, "Superman: The Man of Steel" has been pushed back to 2010. All because of this stupid strike! Here's a letter to Roger Ebert from a writer who's against the strike: From: Ray Wallman, Ronkopnkoma, NY I am an aspiring writer/director/producer, and I seem to be the only person who is against the WGA strike. Writers already get $20,000 for a story or treatment, around $6,000 for a first draft or a rewrite, and $5,000 if the movie or TV show goes to DVD. Those are just the minimums. If a movie or TV show looses money, which most do, the writers don't risk loosing any money. It is the studios and the investors that end up loosing money. You say that movies don't write themselves, well they don't produce themselves either. Why shouldn't the key grips, the lighting technicians, the extras, the advertising executives or the producers receive some of that revenue. I hate the way the writers guild vilifies executives as greedy evildoers only looking out for the profits of their corporation. Do any of you writers know where those profits go? They go right back to paying the writers, directors, and all the other technicians that are involved in the production and marketing of movies. Those profits also go into the training, health care and benefits of all the employees. You complain about there are not enough original movies. It is that way because the executives need to make their investment back in order to earn a living. And because they are paying astronomically high wages for their writers, directors, actors, laborers and technicians. Now this strike is putting all of those people out of work. Don't get me wrong, I believe writers have the right to negotiate for their wages, salaries and the results of their intellectual property. But when you look at all the pure propaganda that is being spread on YouTube and through the press, I cannot help but feel disgusted. I ask all the readers to be a little more skeptical and consider other points of view when looking at this issue. Go get 'em, Ray! William Hurt will have a part in "Iron Man". He'll be playing General "Thunderbolt" Ross. That's right! The very same character he's playing in "The Incredible Hulk"! Oh, man! This is tooooo good! I'm wondering if they're still going to have Nick Fury (played by the easily angered Sam Jackson) in both movies or if they changed it to Hurt's character? It would be extremely cool to have a "Hulk" character and an "Iron Man" character making cameoes in BOTH movies. I mean, if their commitment is that strong, will it be too long before we finally get to see THIS on the big screen?! THAT WOULD BE FRIGGIN' AWESOME!!!!!!!!! (If you haven't read that issue, you're missin' out! The Hulk was at his best in the 'Heroes Reborn' Universe: BIG, MEAN, STRONG AS ALL GET OUT AND DUMB AS ROCKS! ) Do you guys want the complete character roster to "The Dark Knight"? Now, I've learned that number 19 isn't actually Batgirl, but Gordan's wife. (Isn't it kinda strange to have a mother and daughter with the same name? I don't know if it's like this in the comics because I've NEVER read a 'Batman' story where they introduced a wife for the commish.) That's a letdown. I really thought we were gonna have the story where The Joker shoots her in the back! Now that would definetly be a great "Dark Joker" story! It's too bad this will probably be the last Joker story. I doubt they'll get a different actor to play the character for a future sequel. Especially if Ledger's Joker turns out to be a fantastic approach to the role. Still... they did use quite a bit of face disfiguring make-up... another actor could pull off the role if he submerged himself into the character Nolan & Ledger created. It could happen! When it comes to "The Dark Knight", EVERYONE knows The Joker is gonna be in it, but according to Nolan: "Harvey Dent is a tragic figure, and his story is the backbone of this film."; "The Joker, he sort of cuts through (The Dark Knight). He's got no story arc; he's just a force of nature tearing through. Heath has given an amazing performance in the role, it's really extraordinary." It's OFFICIAL we will see Two-Face in the movie! Framestore CFC will be doing his make-up effects! I'm thinkin' that his transformation happens towards the end and he will be the MAIN villain in the next Bat-film. Hopefully they don't go the "Spider-Man 3" route and crowd the villains together in the third act. That'll really piss me off if they short change Two-Face the way they did Venom! Nic Cage and Jessica Alba have both been nominated for Oscars in their work on "Ghost Rider" and "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer"! Oh... wait. That was supposed to read "Razzies" instead of "Oscars". Sorry. Very, very sorry. I liked the movies well enough. I admit, "Ghost Rider" doesn't hold up so well with repeated viewings. I think it was just the amazment of seeing a flaming skull on the big screen. We effects and action junkies are rendered brainless when pretty colors are up on the screen! I wasn't really happy with the second FF. It was better than the first, but it still wasn't great. We GOTTA get a new director and screenwriter... and fast! That's all the news for now, see ya in the funny pages!

Today when I went to go see Michael Clayton, I finally got to see two full-length previews of movies that look really good. The first one was for Iron Man which shows Robert Downey Jr. playing a very cool role. His armor looks awesome and at the end of the preview they show him flying in the air being chased by two fighting jets, very promising. The second one was pretty sad because it for the new Batman film, The Dark Knight. This one showed a lot of Heath Ledger’s portrayal as the Joker. I even thought that they showed more of the Joker than they did of actual Batman. It was a very eerie feeling but I am still looking forward to it.

It's been awhile, but I have a little sumpthin' special for you guys: The Abomination! I dunno. I have him in a few comics and even on a card in Marvel Universe: Series III and he doesn't look anything close to this. Oh, well. At least he's big and bad. Should be a pretty good fight up on-screen. Since I'm posting toys of what characters are (probably) going to look like, here's one of Titanium Man for "Iron Man". I'm not as certain that we'll be seeing him in the movie as this site is. When "Ghost Rider" came out they released all sorts of "movie toys" of characters NOT in the movie! Remember when I got excited because I saw a "Movie Version" of Vengeance? He wasn't in the movie. Same for the Marvel's Scarecrow, which was also marketed like he was in the movie! So maybe, but probably not. I think we have enough armor-wearing characters in the movie. Thank you very much. Check out Wolverine! Oh, yeah! We saw most of the monsters and the new character (Johann Kraus) in the trailer, but how would you like to know a little more about them? That's all the news I feel like posting for now. See ya in the funny pages!
