Q: The good thing about living in China?

A: Super cheap dvd's.

Q: The bad thing about living in China?

A: I cannot get special editions/ multi disc sets etc.!!!!

This floating death box is gonna be stocking up when I hit Oz again in 3 weeks!!

I'd love to see a special feature on '300' similiar to the one on Batman Begins, where we get comic book frames to compare to the film...mmm.....Dark Knight.....mmmm Bat-a licious....

It's like I tell my wife, "When you spend 5-20 bucks at a time it doesn't seem that much, BUT when you add up all of my DVD's at the average cost of about 10 dollars per... it comes to... $7,670! That doesn't even include the extra money sets cost! I coulda got my truck fixed & on the road for that! Oh, well, I ain't goin' nowhere right now anyway. I'd rather have the movies Big Grin.

Hey, guys! I'm back with more comic-based movie news! Comics2Film has managed to have a sit down with Zach Snyder about his current project, "Watchmen". Read all about it right here.

In "The Incredible Hulk" news, it turns out Edward Norton wrote the screenplay! Hold on a sec... Hmmmm. According to IMDB, he's only written one other movie, "Motherless Brooklyn". I ain't ever heard of it, so I have no idea how good his storytelling skills are. Apparently he loves the comic, so here's hoping he can write a good story. Read the whole story at IGN.com. Once again, Ish-man, they dog the Ang Lee version! So brace yourself.

"The Spirit", written & directed by Frank Miller, is set to begin filming October 7th. A few of the characters that will be making appearances are Denny Colt, Commissioner Dolan, Ellen Dolan, Plaster of Paris, Silken Floss, Lorelei Rox, & Sand Saref. The only star attached to the film so far is Samuel L. Jackson, who will be the villain, The Octopus! Now, in the comic, you never see his face, but is recognizable by his gloves. 100 bucks says they show his face in the movie Wink! They always break that rule in movies! Like with Casey Jones in "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles", Dr. Claw in "Inspector Gadget", Dr. Doom in "Fantastic Four", & Al Simmons in "Spawn". The studio execs wanna see the face they're payin' for, I suppose. The movie doesn't have a release date yet, but it aiming for late 2008 or early 2009.

In "Iron Man" news, the Mandarin WILL NOT be the villain in this one. Director Jon Favreau doesn't want a fantastic villain like the Mandarin to come in with hardly any development. So he's set to show up as the main threat in the sequel. Which leaves Jeff Bridges as the big, bad guy, the Iron Monger! Favreau wants this movie to be all about Tony's technology, so the villain will be the evil side of it. It's good to hear he cares about the characters & doesn't want to just waste them as screen filler until the next movie. I really can't wait to see it! Big Grin

Finally, 'The Tick VS Season 2' comes to DVD August 7th! It's about flippin' time! When it said that it'd be "coming soon", I expected it sooner. Roll Eyes

Well, there are alotta comparisons with what actually happened & plenty of interviews with Frank Miller & historical experts. There are shots of comic panals side-by-side with shots from the movie to show how they tried to capture the comic. In the Frank Miller interviews he talks about why the Spartans are nearly naked & why the enemy is so friggin' evil lookin'. It really wasn't anything against Iran. I haven't watched it with the commentary, yet, but I plan on it here real soon.

Been awhile, huh? Well, I'm back with more news from the frontlines!

Marvel is planning on a LIVE ACTION "Dr. Strange" movie! No details...yet. In other Marvel news, John Singleton will be directing 2 of Marvel's black superheroes, each in their own film! "Cage", a hero for hire. He wants Tyrese Gibson for the role of Luke Cage. And "Black Panther", an African king... who dresses up in tights & fights crime. Sounds dumb, but the character is very cool, indeed. Wesley Snipes was supposed to play the part, but due to his tax evasion scandal, Singleton wants Chiwetel Ejiofor. He was in "Serenity" & "Inside Man". I'm disappointed we won't have that "black-@ss Wesley Snipes", but I do like this guy. He was pretty darn regal in "Serenity", even though he was a butt-kickin' assassin. Hey! That's another reason he could do it! He can pull off some convincing moves. Kevin McKidd seems to be the pick to play Thor in his upcoming solo movie. The script is being worked on by Mark Protosevich & directed by Matthew Vaughn. By the way, I know there are some major "Incredible Hulk" fans, so here's the Official Website. Now, you don't have to wait for me to let you in on the inside scoop of THIS project. You're welcome. Big Grin

In other news, 'Painkiller Jane' will be cancelled after it's through with its first, & now final, season. I forgot all about that show!!!! I only watched the pilot, which was alright, & I kept forgettin' to tune in to see her further adventures. Oh well, it'll be out on DVD real soon. Wink

How many of you saw the teaser for "The Dark Knight" when you went to see "The Simpsons"? I saw it! If you didn't, I posted a link to it a few posts above! Oh, & if you didn't catch my review of "Ghost World" in the "Recent Movies' thread , it was good! Much like "American Splendor", but with girls. (That didn't take anything away from it, though! Wink) Check it out when you get the chance! Especially you, FragileKidA!

It had been a while my ape-loving child! Looks I need to check out that Ghost World flick, though I doubt it can be as good as American Splendor.

I saw The Simpsons Movie twice and I never got to see that teaser for the new Batman film. Ever since I was old enough to remember Batman has always been my favorite comic-book hero and I can't wait for the new one. I did check out the link you posted on the previous page for the trailer and it is pretty exciting. I really like Heath Ledger's voice and that laugh is just great! Thanks for the news and keep up the good work chimpy.

Alright, alright! Geez, don't bite my head off! Wink

Scarlett Johansson & Eva Mendez have been cast in "The Spirit". Johansson will be Silk N. Floss, an intelligent secretary who teams up with The Octopus (Samuel L. Jackson). Mendez has been cast as the Spirit's lady love, Sand Serif. I don't know if I told ya or not, but the Spirit will be played by Gabriel Macht.

Ray Stevenson, star of "Punisher 2", had a sit-down with Superhero Hype! & talked about how he would like to portray the violent character:
"Although I am still very much in the embryonic stages of developing and discovering FRANK CASTLE's character; what I can say about my approach so far is that I don’t wish for anyone to walk out of the theatre wanting to 'be' FRANK CASTLE - Let me explain, I would be mortified if, for any reason, some kid at high school wanted to reach out and right the wrongs of bullying or rejection or isolation by deciding to "tool up" and take out the bad guys!

It is my full intention to have FRANK in such a dark place and do such violence on those beyond redemption that you should feel glad that there is someone who lives in the dark so we may live in the light. (And you can’t wait to see what hell he brings to those targeted by him.)

My training program is the most comprehensive I have ever undertaken and hopefully we will bring all his skills to bear - and then some! Sorry it is a bit sketchy at this stage but we are driving forward and will stay true to the essence of THE PUNISHER!”

After getting the comic-based movie bug with "Blade: Trinity", Ryan Reynolds is rumored to be playing the Flash. No word on whether this is in the Justice League movie or in a solo adventure. He's also dying to play Deadpool, a wisecracking sometime villain/sometime good guy. I can see him as Deadpool. He could definetly pull off the sarcasm & comedic qualities of our favorite regenerating killer, but Deadpool is very ugly. I'm talkin' "melted face" ugly. So the question would be, "Would a studio pay to have the handsome face of Ryan Reynolds covered in latex & then covered by a red & black mask with no signs of who is beneath it?" They better not pull some "Spawn" crap & have his face showing most of the time! If they do, it better look really f*cked up!

Anthony Michael Hall WILL NOT be the Riddler in "The Dark Knight"! He'll be an investigative reporter for the Gotham City News who discovers Batman's secret identity & plans to report it. He's described as an antagonist, not a villain. He sounds more like a jerk!

Tyler Mane recently expressed his interest in portraying Sabretooth once again for "Wolverine". However, no one from the studio has contacted him. A Wolverine movie with NO Sabretooth? That would suck!

Lastly, I have some bad news for some of ya. Bale & Routh will not be in any Justice League projects. So there will be new actors portraying Batman & Superman in the movie. THAT SUCKS! It woulda been too cool to have the movies crossover the way the comics do. I guess it's a tad difficult to accomplish that in this medium.

Oh! And here's the "Watchmen" website!

That's all the news for now! See ya in the funny pages!

Yes, more The Dark Knight news, excellent. I am kind of glad that Hall won't be playing the Riddler, that would create a lot of villains like the previous one and I prefer just one or two villains. Plus, the Joker is probably the most significant Batman villain they have.

I would also like to see Sabretooth in the Wolverine film. I always remember Sabretooth being Wolverine's biggest rival and it would be cool to see the both of them square off in a film just for them.

Thanks for the news M_B, keep up the good work!

I'm back with a very quick note:
As most of you know, I love me some Alien on Predator action & I just caught the trailer for the sequel to the crappy plot of "Alien VS Predator", "Aliens VS Predator: Requiem", & I do believe they got it right this time! It's a RED BAND TRAILER (YES! IT'S RATED R!), so there is plenty of blood, a guy gets acid dumped on his face, & one of the characters scream, "F*CK YOU!" to an alien before blowing its head off. If you watch very, very carefully, you'll catch a glimpse of a full grown Pred-alien! You'll have to download it to your computer, but then you can watch it as much as ya want without bein' on the internet Big Grin! Go to ign.com & check it out right now! Just try to tell me it looks crappy!

On September 10th the teaser trailer for "Iron Man" will air on Mtv, just before "The Hills"! Don't miss it! Terrance Howard has hinted that the only reason he wanted the part was so he could wear the War Machine armor. Is this a hint of things to come?

In other Marvel news, Tyler Mane may not be playing Sabretooth anytime soon, but at least he'll be taking another comic-based role: THOR!

Shia Labeouf WILL be Yorick Brown in "Y: The Last Man"! "The Spirit" will be hitting theaters January 16, 2009. Oooooohhhh, I wanted it sooner! Frowner

Well, that's all for now fanboys & girls.

OH CRAP! OH CRAP! OH CRAP! OH CRAP! OH CRAP! OH CRAP! OH CRAP! OH CRAP! OH CRAP! OH CRAP! OH CRAP! I tuned in to Mtv to see if I could catch the trailer for "Iron Man" & after watching 10 minutes of the most awful show in television history ('The Hills' Is it some kinda reality show or just terrible acting & dialogue? Who says, "You just gonna flake on the homies?" Is this how the young people of today talk? I must be gettin' old.)... IT NEVER CAME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, I tune in to 'The Daily Show', & what do I see on the first commercial break? I know YOU know! Oh man! It was friggin' awesome! It was actually pretty long! Every picture we've seen so far, was in this trailer! It showed Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) before the "accident" as a boastful playboy designing weapons for the military. Then you see him captured by the enemy, & it seems he sustains the injury to his heart from his captors who are forcing him to build a weapon for them. Of course, he builds the first design of the Iron Man armor instead! YES, YOU SEE IT IN ACTION! You also see quick glimpses of everybody in the cast: Terrance Howard, Gwenyth Paltrow, Jeff Bridges... Then, you see the beatiful red & gold armor FLYING! OUTRUNNING JETS! I don't think this movie can be bad! Not with a trailer like this! I was really happy I happened to be watching t.v. in the Den, so I was able to watch the trailer on a 52" screen! They'll be playing a rerun of 'The Daily Show' at 12am Central, and I'll bet they play the same commercials, too. Why would they change 'em? OH, PLEEEEEEEEEAAAAASSSSE LET 'EM SHOW IT AGAIN! I WANNA RECORD IT!

THAT'S IT, Marky!!!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! They didn't show it again on Comedy Central! I recognized the order of commercials, but when it came time for "Iron Man", "Back to the show!" I was so disappointed, but then I come here today & look what I see! Let's hope the trailer for "The Incredible Hulk" is just as exciting!

It BETTER be as good as the friggin' trailer makes it out to be! I'll be as pissed as I was when they made Rogue a child, when they killed off Senator Kelly, when they made Lady Deathstrike a mindless slave, when they made Juggernaut a mutant, when they had Jean Grey KILL Professor X & Cyclops, that they made Galactus a friggin' storm cloud after the director talked his "appearance" up so flippin' much, that "Elektra" was ever made... but I digress. What I'm trying to say is, "I wouldn't be a happy camper." Frowner

Typing of "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer", it comes to DVD October 2nd and Wal-Mart is adding a bonus disc to it. If it's anything like the bonus disc they put with "X-Men: The Last Stand", it would probably be worth the price for THAT disc alone! The one that came with the third "X-Men" movie was a very informative look at the comics. They interviewed the industry's giants, and we found out how they came up with the idea, why they changed characters, what characters they didn't like, EVERYTHING! I would love to see the same treatment for the Fantastic Four! Besides, I HAVE to buy it, it's a comic-based movie! Just like I have to get "The Road to Perdition". Have any of you seen that? Is it any good because Jude Law just doesn't "do it" for me, ya know? I've only liked one movie with him in it and that was "Sky Captain & the World of Tomorrow". But, like "Battlefield Earth", I really only enjoyed that movie for the concept. It's like an old Superman 'toon come to life! In fact, the robots at the very beginning look exactly like the robots from one of those old 1930's cartoons, including the wings coming out of their arms!!!

You guys wanna see some footage someone snuck of "The Incredible Hulk"? It ain't much, and the angle is extreme because the guy was apparently hiding when he filmed it! Check it out!

Warner Brothers has green lit "The Justice League"! They want the team to be made up of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, & Aquaman. Once again, Batman & Superman WILL NOT be played by Bale or Routh. That really sucks. It woulda been so friggin' cool to have these movies connect. Nothing's set in stone, though. The team's roster could change at anytime. They are hoping for a 2009 release!

Heath Ledger is having a wonderful time playing the Joker! Here's a video interview with him. If you speak french (at least, I think it's french. I don't speak it, even though I took French in 8th grade! It was probably because that teacher was so friggin' HOT and I wasn't really paying attention to what she was saying!), you'd probably enjoy it more, not because Heath Ledger is in french, but because the announcer is, and the interview isn't until AFTER the 2 minute mark!

Oh yeah! In news nobody really cares about because her movies have kinda sucked lately: Jessica Alba's having a baby! No. Not in real life Roll Eyes. In "Fantastic Four 3" they plan on introducing Franklin, Reed & Sue's powerful mutant son! However, this may be a long time comin'. There's a potential strike on the horizon & the studios are pushing better movies into production.

Well, that's all the news for now! I'm off to watch "Star Wars" for the rest of the day. Yes, we're getting off to a late start. Someone called and said they were going to be late, but they WERE coming. Whatta jerk. Mad

I wish I could. She's been replaced by Liv Tyler. Some see that as a good thing, I see it as a bad one! You can't just trade off Jennifer Connelly like that!
