I understand what you're talking about with your boy. My brother is the same way. He actually thought
"300" was the best movie of the year
until "I Am Legend" came out!

I liked it fine, but the movie doesn't have a brain in its head. So it's best if you watch it with your brain turned off and just enjoy the action and the pretty colors!

The "Best Movie of the Year"
should give ya a bit more than that, don'cha think?

I really don't think this is a fair poll, though. So I didn't vote. I mean,
"The Lord of the Rings" was an
epic trilogy.
"300" was just a
battle movie. Nothing more. Now, if you wanna compare battle sequences,
"The Lord of the Rings" wins because the battles were larger. (In some cases literally because both had elephants on the battlefield, but
"The Lord of the Rings" had
MUCH BIGGER elephants than
"300" did.) However, if you wanna compare mindless violence, tough guys in naught but their undies and one-liners,
"300" wins.

"I can't live the buttoned down life like all of you! I want it all: the
terrifying lows, the
dizzying highs, the
creamy middles! Sure, I might offend a few of the
blue-noses with my cocky stride and musky odor - oh, I'll never be the darling of the so-called
'City Fathers' who cluck their tongues, stroke their beards, and talk about what's to be done with this
Monkey_Boy?!"
