Easily one of my favorite movies last year. Bought it on DVD the day it came out.

Let's raise a toast to St. Joe Strummer! I do believe he was our only decent teacher

Well, this was a dark and saddening picture... But was perhaps one of the most emotional and amazing movies I have ever seen! I encourage everyone to see this movie, not matter what. Absolutely amazing.

I did't like the movie because there are some of the points in the movie I didn't understand. Spoiler ahead***

Why didn't they just go to the government with the baby? After all, Britain is the only government left that has survived, so it can't be completely corrupted.

In the begining of the movie, everyone was in the little shop watching the little tv about the news about how the youngest person died. Yet everywhere around the streets there are huge tv screens that they could of watched from, yet they didn't. Perhaps for the purpose to reinforce the shock with the place exploding.

I thought the preganat girl's acting was stagnant. She didn't seem to hold a sense of urgency in her that she was the savior of the human race. Also, she seemed to suddenly trust Clive only on behalf of Juliane Moore, even when she's been living with the Fishes for years. She didn't convey that sense of why she should trust Clive, and the story didn't should dive into such character developments.

How come nobody's heard of the Genome Project or doesn't really know if it exists. If the world is infertile, should such a project be lauded? Shouldn't more programs be set up to try to solve the problem of infertility?

I loved the scene when all the military soliders stopped to witness the baby Messiah, but then know one comes to help them afterward? They continue on with the conflict that isn't really explained either? Why is the government risking innocent lives to smother a small group of insurgents that is thought to be terroritsts? Maybe it's trying to connect with our government today.

Why did Syd betray Clive and Kee, even though he saw the first baby in 27 years, the only hope to mankind? Just for the bounty? Is he so delusional to not understand the world's infertile, or has he completly hope and belief from witnessing a world turned into pure chaotic mess?

Anyways I thought the camera work was fantastic. Is that due to cinematgraphy or directing? The concept was great, but they need to delve much more into the unexplored questions and character development to give it a more emotional, powerful movie. They could of even made this a trilogy or something.

Sorry for the late response. I just saw this movie recently, and I just saw this thread today.

They explained in the movie that they thought the government wouldn't be able to accept the baby from a refugee. I think Clive wanted to go public with it, but he was convinced otherwise.

I don't have any comment on her acting, but I think that she trusted Clive because she trusted Julianne Moore.

I don't have answers for all of your questions, but I also don't think that the movie was interested in answering questions. The plot and characters were merely mechanisms for its themes. The director wasn't interested in telling a story so much as painting a picture. It's easy to get caught up in details, but I think you're missing the point if you do.
