First, "Walking Tall". Now, this.

What has Hollywood come to?

As absolutely ridiculous as that sounds, I'd probably go see that film. The Rock is surprisingly good in those types of roles, and he'll probably add much more physicality to the role. Eastwood was always a very awkward hand-to-hand fighter. (Remember "Any Which Way But Loose"??) Nobody can replace Clint. I'm just saying that it would be an interesting, and possibly entertaining adaptation....

I think The Rock has potential. I just wish he starred in some original projects. He had like a grand screen time of three minutes (yet got top billing mmm...) in "Mummy Returns", a sequel. Next, "The Scorpion King", a sequel to a sequel. Then, the most recent "Walking Tall" A, from what I heard, pretty terrible remake. And, if this rumor is true, The Rock can add yet another remake to his growing resume.

Haha, more remakes. Anyway, as opposed to remakes as I am, I'd still probably see the movie. To be honest with you, I thought The Rundown was quite enjoyable. The Rock really has a very good comic ability. He can be both tough and funny at the same time (also shown in his SNL skits).

I believe some others have seen it. I first saw it at the drive-in in 1973 on a double bill with "Magnum Force" (Dirty Harry 2). You're right, HH, "Dirty Harry" received a few reactionarily-negative reviews when it came out for supposedly promoting fascism, but it's a very complex film with one of Clint's best roles and lines (I love it when you see him say the line and "spit" his food out to accentuate it.) Don Siegel, basically Eastwood's mentor as a director, directed the **** out of it, with awesome action, editing and music.

Huh-wha? The Rock? Somehow I missed this topic before. Well, I have to go throw up now.

Seriously, someone think of a NEW idea ... going to the movies is getting to be like going to see endless tribute band concerts.

I find movies like "Dirty Harry" incredibly funny. I mean, its basically a vigilante cop doing all sorts of idiotic, reckless, sadistic and just plain illegal actions. Like any number of Steven Seagal movies, I suppose. It doesnt particularly bother me if the "legacy" of the film is molested by a big budget Hollywood remake, because it was ludicrous and stupid film to begin with.

Hahaha, Steven Segal movies are so funny! I don't remember any of the names because I only catch little clips of them on TV, but I remember one scene I saw where Segal and another tough-guy cop have a contest to see who can hold a taser against their body for the longest period of time. Damn that was funny!

So far this a rumor, but it's generating lots of traffic here

I don't know how the original "Dirty Harry" can be compared to Steven Seagal. First off, there's the question of quality and realism. Second off, Seagal turned into a bleeding-heart, while Harry was always right wing. The point is that Harry had everybody against him in the ultra-liberal San Fran, yet he was the only one who could save people from a serial killer. I'd take Harry over the Patriot Act any day, and yes, I see an enormous difference between the two. For starters, one is only a movie ( a damned-good one.)

With all of those struggling talented actors out there who would kill to get just a tiny part in a movie, and could act circles around The Rock, why do producers continue to put this neaderthal up on the big screen? I'll tell you why. It is because every dirty redneck in the South has made The Rock popular by buying tickets and ordering pay-per-view for their favorite male soap opera, the WWF. Thanks a lot Old Dixie!

The Rock is quite a good actor. Even though all of the films he was in were sequels or remakes he does a fairly good job of them. The Scorpion King was the only one of The Mummy series worth seeing, The Rundown was fairly good. Acting is not good in most cases for wrestlers, but I will make an exception for The Rock. BTW most people who live in the south are not like that. I just recently moved out of an extremely rural part of Florida. Of course there is a redneck or two but I've been to other states and there are a couple there too.

I'm sorry, what did you say? The Rock is a good actor? A GOOD ACTOR???

What is this my ears are hearing....-OVeRloaD..10111010110 (EXPLOSION!!)

Ok Soady, I respect you because you've become an Enthusiast in less then 2 days, but now you've gone too far!!

Sorry to disagree with you, but THE ROCK is a terrible actor. He's like "worse than Keanu Reeves" bad! And that's pretty low!

I stand by what I said. NOt many actors would be able to make a movie like The Rundown entertaining. Although I agree with you on Keanu Reeves I do not think that it is fair how many people pick on him, after all he was great in the Matrix series.

I've only seen a couple movies with the rock but I dont think hes that good of an actor. I think people portray him as a horrible actor because of his past. He's only been in a couple movies so its hard to judge how good of an acotr he is.

I agree that the Rundown was mildly entertaining, but it wasnt due to the Rock. Same thing with The Matrix movies, they were good because of the idea and the f/x but not really the acting, although I thought Hugo Weaving did a good job as Agent Smith.

The Rock and Seann William Scott made The Rundown as good as it was. Although Christopher Walken did a fairly good performance as well. As far as Reeves goes he was perfect for that part hands down. There would not have been another actor to do as well as he did. By the way congrats on becoming a know-it-all Kraft

I would have to agree about reeves being the right guy for the matrix. Im not saying he did especially well in it, but the role didnt seem to call for that kind of acting and i cant imagine neo as anyone else.

You see Keanu was essentially just playing a video game protagonist. To say that he was "perfect" and "great" wpuld be to say that Arnold Schwarzeneger (sp?) shows himself to be a master thespian in "Terminator". Dude...hes playing a machine...
