Being a huge fan of the Batman comic books and films it is my duty to ask you if you liked the films as much as I did (forget the 4th one!!!!)
Do you guys think the 5th Batman is going to be good? it will star Christian Bale as the Bat, Michael Caine as Alfred and Ken Watanabe as Rha's As Gul the vilain!
The casting of Ken Watanabe as Ra's Al Ghul is brilliantly perfect! The prospect of ever finding a quality Batman is still pretty slim to me, but I do think Bale is a decent choice. Batman/Bruce Wayne is another American Psycho, so we know he can pull off the rich sociopath role. Trying to keep my expectations down for this one though, so I am not too disappointed if it sucks.

Hmmm... I heard it was christian bale, morgan freeman as alfred and the scarecrow as the villain! rumors, rumors... who's right? also, I heard Christopher Nolan is directing (memento) so it should be awesome.
The fourth one is unwatchable. I can't believe "Mr.Freeze" now holds high political office, either.

jesus... liam neeson, Gary Oldman, Tom Wilkinson (who was amazing in In The Bedroom, Rutger Hauer (just saw bladerunner again), Morgan Freeman and Christian Bale, with Scarecrow AND Ra's Al Ghul. if this movie is only 25% as good as one could hope it'll be amazing...
Dont forget it's direct by Chris Nolan---the guy who did "Memento". A recent Newsweek had a huge article on the film. Supposedly, you get to see the creation of both the bat suit and bat mobile (a mix of rugged four wheeler and high speed hot rod).
This looks amazing. I just hope that some of the wonderful Burton-esque design remains.

Hey, S,are you implying that we have all the psychos and Canada is just one big happy family? Even if you can prove it, give me a break! By the way, where's your response to our private message?

No, no, not at all! There are many, many psychos here in Canada! I had a couple at my last party! I just think the comparison between Batman, at least the Dark Knight Batman is accurate to the American Psycho character. Obviously they deal with their sociopathic natures in very different ways, Bale's excellent performance in that film leads me to believe he will be a great Batman, perhaps the best yet! I am also very excited about Gary Oldman as Chief Gordon, another bit of excellent casting, and in my opinion, one of the best actors out there right now. And Mark, I sent a reply when I got to work this morning!

I think Bale is a pretty good casting choice. As Smenk pointed out, we know he can play the part of the disturbed rich guy. Also, for those of you who saw Equilibrium, we also know that Bale can do some pretty crazy action.
Just to make a correction to a statement made earlier: someone said Morgan Freeman was going to be Alfred. Uh...don't think so. I think Michael Caine is Alfred. Last I heard, Alfred was an old white guy.
Watanabe is awesome and so is Oldman. I'm not so sure if the 28 Days later guy is the best choice for a villain, but what do I know, I don't even know who Scarecrow is.
I do have some hope for this Batman movie. The cast is impressive and the director definately has the ability to make a great ****ing movie.
HOWEVER...
I think Val Kilmer was the best batman, even more so than Keaton. There. I said it.
(I'm still convinced that Clooney was just a joke. They weren't being serious. No way.)
Someone give me my poll rights.

Whatever happens in the forthcoming Batman flick it can only be better than (shudder) Batman and Robin! I mean, what WERE they thinking??? They almost ruin the whole Batman series! Clooney?? What the F... was that?! Definitely one of the worst films ever!
I too think that Kilmer was a better Batman than Keaton although Keaton was a pretty cool Bruce Wayne! In the Batman suit he just looked...I dunno...weird!
So far, I believe the casting is great and could create a decent Batman movie. They better!
I loved the Batman movies when I was younger, (although when I see the fourth one on TV now... I change the channel), and I recently watched Batman Returns again, confirming that the series is awesome. I remember only three things about the third one:
1. Two-Face and The Riddler 2. Robin joins in. 3. The Riddler's line at the end. I love that line.
I need to rent the first and third ones...
I reserve the right to be entirely wrong.

The first Batman is excellent although not quite as good as the second one. Simply because the special effects now look dated and the Prince soundtrack just doesn't suit the mood of the film. Other than that it is brilliant.
As for Batman Forever, I like it because it is intermittently entertaining and because Jim Carrey is none other than perfect as The Riddler. It is not in the same league as its predecessors and the story is preposterous but it is really fun!
I think Nolan will do a great job with the Bat. I heard this is one of the projects he was always wanted to do, and besides, anything is an improvement over Joel Schumacher! Screw that guy for ruining a great series!

Yea, well you see this one? This was my dream, my wish....and it didn't come true. So I'm taking it back, I'm taking them all back. -Face
I remember when they had a press conference with Jonathan Mostow before he made T3. A reporter got up and asked, "So are you going to f*ck the Terminator series up just like Joel Schumacher f*cked up Batman?" I could have kissed that guy for publicly humiliating Joel. I really think that Nolan will do a great job. He can make Batman The Dark Knight again, not The Bat MAster Card Toting Choreographed Fighting Cartoony Crusader we all know and hate.
I do have to say that it will be hard to top Tim Burton's masterpiece though. Does anyone know who will be doing the score for the new Batman?

Looks like David Julyan is doing the score. He has done the scores for all of Nolan's films so far. But again, its going to be hard to come close to Danny Elfman's masterpiece in Burton's Batman.
