I am flabbergasted at the absence of this thread. This movie simply looks breathtaking. I dont care if you dont like the thought of computer graphics taking over the cinema this movie still looks cool! I dont care if you question the acting abilities of Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Angelina Jolie (if this is the case, you shouldnt care that I think your crazy) you still have to see this movie. I havent seen it yet which sort of makes this whole rant hypocritical BUT I will go see it and unless the projector catches fire !I WILL LOVE IT! because I am a sucker for CGI done well and I assure you that this film will be better than the two Star Wars preqeuals combined....

Now, for those who HAVE seen this film am I totally exaggerating---is it not that great?----or is mind-blowingly awesome??

Also, what are your opinions on the type of film making done here. Do you think that someday computer graphics will turn into the norm and whenever a film has ReAl AcToRs there will be large fuss?

Or is this film and all of the creative elements that go along with it completely over-hyped?

I was very dissapointed with this movie. I thought that it looked incredible and was going to be great. However, besides the originality of the CGI backgrounds and a few entertaining moments, it wasnt good at all.
It was kind of like a futuristic Indiana Jones even though its actually set before Indiana Jones is. Yet, it is about 10 times as cheezy and fake.
One of the things that looked best about this movie was it's good cast. (Law, Paltrow and Jolie) However, the acting was the most dissapointing part. Especially Gwyneth Paltrow. Everything that was said sounded fake and predictable.
And finally, the plot just didnt hold together well at all. So many questions were left unexplained. I was very dissapointed.
I would only reccomend seeing Sky Captian for the excitement and artistic beauty.

Ah, that sucks! Im reading over some of the reviews and Im finding similair complaints...Ill see it still Ill just cover my ears!

This movie was actually very disappointing. I was immensey unimpressed. For one, the lighting was ridiculous. With a good bit of shots, you needed to squint your eyes to see the action. Also, the whole plot didn't role together well, with plot holes and odd moments all over. And finally, it was WAY too predictable. I knew what was going to happen every step of the way. Homaging old serials is one thing, but deliberately copying them is another.

SKY CAPTAIN is a horrifically bad movie. Sure, it's great to look at ... if you can stay awake.
