Well, of all-time, I guess I'll go with Errol Flynn. He was Captain Blood, Robin Hood, Gentleman Jim Corbett, George Custer, Don Juan, Lord Essex, and several other western, period, and WWII action heroes. Tyrone Power was a great Zorro, pirate captain of the Black Swan, conquistador, etc., and of course, Douglas Fairbanks, Sr. was the Thief of Bagdad, Robin Hood, D'Artagnan, The Black Pirate, The Gaucho, etc. I think these guys can kick Gov. Schwarz's ass, or most of what have you nowadays (remember, they were SMART.) SPOILER!!! If you wanna count Bruce Lee as the best, just remember, he did an awesome karate move to try to kill James Garner in "Marlowe", but missed him and flew out the window of a skyscraper to his death.

I guess mine would be... Bruce Willis! Oh, yeah! He's the man when it comes to savin' the city & he ain't Superman! (Well, except in "Unbreakable", but that wasn't an action movie.) As for the next in line... Wesley Snipes! This dude comes in second ONLY because he's never done a movie anywhere near as explosive as Willis'. His kung fu is bad than a mug, though! He did a move so flippin' tight in "The Art of War", I had to rewind it several times. His sword work in the "Blade" flicks was especially delightful (even if the third wasn't very good at all). So, if it's a big save the city movie, Willis. Lotsa hand-to-hand combat, Snipes. Oh, if it's a martial arts flick, Jet Li! Yeah, you CAN'T beat him.

I love Bruce Willis, but I'm going with Kurt Russell... If I could only go back in time and make George Lucas choose Kurt Russell instead of Mark Hamill for Luke Skywalker the world might just be a better place.
EDIT: In fact, I'm going to start working on that right now.

Nooooooo! Then we'd have no "Big Trouble in Little China" because he'd be typecast as Luke Skywalker! Then he'd haveta do voiceover work and I don't think I could stand to hear The (animated series) Joker with his voice! Hamill does such a fantastic job! Besides, I don't think anyone could embrace their role in life the way ol' "Luke" has.

I disagree. Kurt could have transcended typecasting as Luke in the same way Harrison Ford did as Hans or Indy. Mark Hamill just does not embody action star in any way, which is why he was/is typecast. Kurt could have still done classics like Big Trouble & the Escape From New York/LA.

I like Mark Wahlberg also. A film I enjoyed him in most was the remake of the Italian job. Did you know there's going to be a sequel to this movie?
Martian leader.

The Bourne series is some of my favorites, and not only is he a pretty accomplished actor in general but for the aforementioned series he trained in Kali and performed some pretty impressive and entertaining fight scenes. I mean, damn, this guy had a knife and Bourne took him apart with a folded magazine.

Your post brings to mind a quote from "The 40-Year-Old Virgin": "Y'know, I always thought that Matt Damon was like a Streisand, but he's rocking the sh*t in this one!" I remember thinking pretty much the same thing (I don't really compare folks to Barbara Streisand) when I first saw "The Bourne Identity"!

Well as far as action film stars go....

Rocky9 has a good sense for action movies and their actors/actresses that I can appreciate and I'm surprised that there were so many that I had assumed that really not anybody would really be willing to list. But Rocky9 boldly put his name of a list of quite enjoyable and captivating action stars. Jennifer Garner was really under-rated in her ELEKTRA role where she really dedicated herself to her craft and it shows. Even Lucy Liu made a strong showing even though BALLISTIC: ECKS VS. SEVER is considered by many critics/people as one of the worst movies made. Sarah Michelle Geller and David Boreanaz, I know are television, not movie stars, but they made together and separately a remarkable legacy that many people still discuss. Ben Affleck also gets a under-rated marks, though even his DAREDEVIL movie had some great scenes, especially the delicate psych-play with JENNIFER GARNER.
A solid list of A- Action Players that many don't recognized as such.
Matt Damon, not mentioned here, can be credited with having talent as well as a great script in his BOURNE trilogy.
