It obviously seems that everyone at this site doesnt especially like Harry Potter for the last post, besides one, hasnt been in like over 4 months. Well, I was just wandering, the harry potter's are getting less money each time the new movie comes out.
Sorcerer's Stone- 317 million
Chamber of Secrets- 262 million
Prisoner of Azkabam- 249 million
Since there are going to be 7 books and 7 movies, and the Harry Potter excitement and obsesiveness has obviously subsided over the past couple years, do you think that harry potter will be just "another thing" that once was popular like Pokemon for example in 10-15 years?

I agree with you Mike...they are still making butt loads of money off the movies...and I have to admit, i've seen all of them so far...
But, the dilema they are running into with the 7 book/movie series...is that the actors/actresses are getting older and with the amount of time it takes to make the movies, they are afraid they are going to have to either stop at a certain point or find new kids to play the parts...thats the last i've heard about it..the news could've changed though...

All the original fans are going to be old by the time the movies hit number 7. You have to admit, it isnt as big of a "thing" as it used to be.
The books are getting worse and they're just going on and on. People are going to get bored, once the 7th one comes out with 1000 pages of nothing. Its just the same thing over and over again.
Since there was a discussion about The Lord of the Rings being a once in a generation phenomenom, what do you think about Harry Potter. I think the hype will decrease and love for it decrease little by little. As I said before I think Harry Potter will just be another thing that was once popular in a few years.

But that assumes that all fo the fans are children. Which is not the case otherwise it would have boxed what others movies just for kids do. Instead, their is a faithful adult base of fans for the series. True it isn't as popular as it was previously, but it is still pretty big.

Thats partly where I disagree. I find that Harry Potter has pretty much only kids fans. Yes, there are adult fans but its not nearly as spread out with ages as lets say, Lord of the Rings. Harry Potter boxed so much because it was SO popular with children. Its just a very popular childrens series.
Just because it makes a lot of money, doesnt mean that many adults like it as well.
I still think the money numbers are going down and will keep on going down.

oh well..its doesn't really matter who likes the movie..as long as it got/gets good reviews, they'll most likely continue to get them..and sure, the money the movie makes may be decreasing with each movie, but so far they are doing fine...lol

I think that they are eventually going to find new kids and then it will seem fake. Sadly the kids aren't nearly as cute as they used to be - puberty will do that I think they may as well go as long as they can. Even if the movies aren't as good as the first one, people who have read the books still want to see how they are going to be in film.

Why would you get new kids? Aren't the books sort of like watching Potter grow up? What would be wrong with during the last movie, Harry be the age of a teen in high school? I doubt that the kids would care, because they look up to figures such as that. The dilema is how long can it go before the previous fans stop caring?

Thats exactly what I mentioned before that the fans will stop caring and be too old. Not only that, but the movies are taking now longer than a year to make so the kids will gradually get older than they are supposed to be. You say they may not be as good as the first, was the first really that good?

I haven't read any of the Harry Potter books. My wife and my daughter have read them all. They will definitely read the last two. My daughter (13 years old) says that each book is getting better, but my wife says that #3 (Azkaban) is the best so far. We aren't obvious film-goers because we ACTUALLY have some reason to go see films and watch them in the future, aside from the fact that they have special effects, violence, sex, nudity, foulmouth language, or most of the reasons people see movies nowadays. Am I even addressing some point? Bye.

i think the harry potter films are great but should be getting more fightin in them so they will lose money because of that but people wont lose interest.
