I am after some sexy ambient / trip / electronica music for the summer, but know very little about this genre of music. Can anyone make any suggestions? I am also after some sleep music. Once again, all suggestions most welcome.
Splendid stuff, people. Keep it coming. I do like Massive Attack, so good call. However, I am looking for something slightly more off the beaten track.
mmm... 'sexy' is a hard one. Depends how you interpret the word. Music that has sex appeal? Music that puts you in the mood? Music that just has a sexy vibe? By my personal tastes, I think Portishead is about as sexy as it gets, but that's not so far off the 'beaten track' as you requested. Dj Krush released an album years back 'Ki-Oku', that was a collaboration with trumpeter Toshinori Kondo. The hip hop-esque beats and jazzy influence of muted horns give this album a nice sexy feel. Is this electronica though? Might have to have a bit more of a rummage through the old collection

I've got it. My all time most 'sexy' album... Suzuki by Tosca. Sensuos whispers in a foreign language... smooth relaxed percussion... dream-like, melodic samples... what more could you ask for. Anyone who has heard this album, tell me it aint the most sexy!

Excellent. In terms of definition, I believe I have to be a little discerning in what I say for fear of being moderated, but yes, I am looking for something that may make feel particularly saucy.
My usual taste extends to Dead Meadow, Dungen, the Shins, the Black Keys, Sufjan Stevens, the White Stripes, etc, etc. Not exactly known for sex appeal.
May I just say what an absolute pleasure it is to converse with some adults on this board instead of getting bogged down in slagging matches with emo kids with horrendous angular haircuts.
Boards of Canada noted. I hate to say it but I thought Talkie Walkie was pretty dire, and not a patch on Moon Safari. Actually Air haven't really done anything as great as Moon Safari.
regarding air... yeah I got started on moon safari, but talkie walkie is my favorite of the two albums (just by a little)... I dont particularly care for 10,000hz legend or pocket symphony.
