After scouring the internet for over 2 hours and haggling with Mike and Dork to give me the dl link, I finally found it. I listened to it once all the way through and I can easily say that it is my favorite electronic album of the year. The songs are so badass. Definitely top 5 of the year for me so far, prolly top 3.

I really liked From Here We Go To Sublime but this feels like more of the same... the rut many minimal dudes run into.

I'd recommend Infinite Scale's Ad Infinitum for an album with a similar aesthetic which seems better executed and more interesting.

If you think this is more of the same, I really wonder what album you're listening to. "Yesterday and Today" is so much more diverse than "From here we go sublime" that the two are hardly comparable. The new album has so many characteristics that "From here..." simply lacks. This is a big step forward for The Field, an evolution if you will. I'll check out that album that you recommended though, you haven't steered me wrong yet, eventhough I do completely disagree with your assessment of "yesterday and today".

well, "Yesterday and today" surely sounds like a The Field record to me. It's less minimal and more colorful than "From here...", which is at the same time a good and a bad thing. It's different, a bit more "modern", but i dont know if it's better than "From here...". The mysterious and melancolic The Field sounds more like a celebration of the past and the present on this record. I think i prefer the vocals on From Here... and Sound of Light. Maybe i'll totally change my mind after more than 1 listen :P

Yes, it's my favourite electronic album of this year also (so far). I enjoy every song and think that this is a great move forward from From Here We Go Sublime. The addition of drums is great, and he is experimenting with new styles. The only song on the album that sounds like classic "Field" is "The More That I Do".

The vocals on some of the tracks are stupid. They don't fit with what The Field does well. A lot of the stuff isn't very ambient either. The real instruments are an awesome touch though.

I'd of happily taken another From Here We Go Sublime. This is after having the album for under a week though. Its overall pretty good though.

"From here we go sublime" is a one dimensional album, imo. Whereas his new one, is diverse and varied in sound and texture.

I'm with you. Really enjoying this. Sounds a lot bigger than his last album. A little more funk. Great stuff.

This is some gorgeous, lush, substantial music. I really love the structures he has taken to on this new album and for me, at least, I like it more than his previous one.

until now my favorite track of the record is "everybody's got to learn sometimes", but i don't think it can beat tracks like "good things end", "everday" or "morning"...

I'm almost 100% sure I need to give it more time, but as egg already mention, I really do enjoy the density and mysteriousness of their debut. This album, while definitely expanded, does not necessarily make it the better album. Their debut was just such a grower for me that it's hard for me to get over the textures of it and think of this new one as better. We'll see...

"Leave It" and "Sequenced" are my favorite. Really dense, impressive stuff. I dig.

I'm really surprised by this album's lukewarm reception. I hadn't heard any reaction to it when I first listened, and after my first time through I thought "this album is going to be huge," but now official reviews and reviews on here are rolling in and I can't believe how few people are really connecting with it. I think it's amazing, and has to stand as one of the best of the year.

I think everyone wants to unfairly compare this album to its predecessor, although the two records are actually going for different aesthetics. This isn't the masterpiece that From Here We Go Sublime was, but it's still damn good - and one of the best of the year.

i'm one of those that doesn't think it's even near the beauty of [i]Sublime[\i]. it's got so much less soul (whatever that means in electronica), it's less way less organic. to me it's just robotic music whereas the first had an aesthetic about it that just washed over you.

Mix a little folly with your plans: It is sweet to be silly at the right moment.

Definitely a contender for Electronic album of the year for me, I'm liking this one more than FHWGS and I listened to that album a lot.
