So what do you people think of it? I very much like it, not as much as her first album though. The one problem I have with Kala though is the Timbaland track, "Come Around", if it wasn't on the album, it wouldn't be a major loss for me.

Favourite tracks:

Bamboo Banga
Boyz
20 Dollar
World Town
Paper Planes (the best track on the album, it's so funny and so great.)

These days I'm so slow, all of these thoughts and nowhere to go.
My aim it used to be so true, my world had a place in it, darling, just for you.

It leaked, I just HAD to hear it. I'm going to get it no matter what when it comes out.

For what it's worth, in one of the Pitchfork writer's round-up of Lollapalooza, they called it "possibly the album of the year". I'm not certain, but I think it was Amy Phillips who wrote it.

I responded to your other, similar post here.

I've heard a couple of tracks. I'm pretty excited, but then I like more oddball stuff. Smiler

I remember reading that too.

Whether or not it's the album of the year, it's certainly one of the most exciting albums I've heard... since her last one.

I could honestly care less about her political leanings and personal opinions. She makes damn catchy music whatever the case.

M.I.A. is Rihanna and Nelly Furtado for the indie kids Razzer.

I have no idea how to interpret that. Smiler

Additionally, Rolling Stone has just awarded the album with 4 1/2 stars, a relatively rare distinction for the magazine. I know RS seems to have lost credibility from many in recent years, but the review WAS written by Robert Christgau, arguably one of the best music critics, uhm, EVER. I have a feeling this one will be bringing in some insanely positive acclaim from the critical bunch.

This album lived up to all of my expectations. Definitely top 10 material.

Agreed on "Paper Planes", it's possibly my favorite song on it.

"Paper Planes" is the best tune on the album, but it's hard to turn a Clash sample into something that doesn't sound good.

I’ll be Ben Gazzara, you’ll be Gena Rowlands.

Agreed! More great music from a bangin' artist. She's got amazing style and her ability to mix beats is just, bad azz.
