first of all, this is my first post so "hi" everyone! Smiler
i was hoping someone could point me in a future direction to expand my collection. I saw another post ("I need new electronica/ top 5") but was hoping for something more tailored to what i like. here are some of my favs:

- dntel, life full of possibilities
- anything notwist
- ms. john soda

i also like death cab for cutie, postal service, among others. so basically beautiful, eerie melodies floating behind electronic music...

any suggestions?

thanks a ton!

I'd say Lali Puna, especially Scary World Theory. Also Junior Boys - Last Exit.

B. Fleischmann

I don't have a specific album of his, but a friend of mine, noting my interest in such bands as Dntel and Notwist, burned a sweet compilation of some his stuff that is good. I think he has a new ablum due this month. If you have trouble finding his stuff, feel free to email/pm me and we'll find a way to work the hook up.

If you already listen to Dntel, you should (maybe you have already) try The Postal Service.

-Schneider TM
-Oscillators & Elevators
-Tunng (they made a great cover of Bloc Party's "The Pioneers")
-The Books (The Album "Thought for food", there's a great song... "Enjoy your worries, you may never have them again")

And maybe Cliff Martinez also... he made the soundtracks to Solaris and Traffic...

Oh, you wrote the postal service thing... ok... but I would like too mention "13 & God" also... it's a project of "The Notwist" and "Themselves"... try "Men of station", in fact the song just sounds like Notwist...

youll probably like

Mum, Boards of Canada, Manitoba, Ulrich Schnauss, and the great new Helios album 'Eingya' are all electronic-based with beautiful melodies. The Sea and Cake's later work such as 'Oui' could fit this description. you should also try the Brian Eno album 'Another Green World'.

One of the greatest of all time, Very underrated. Good choice.... I'd also go with some of The Talking Heads catalog that at times is very funky in a techno way (as many of you know Brian Eno produced all of The Heads music until Speaking In Tongues which was the Heads without Eno). Either way there's some great music out there... If you don't have Remain in Light I'd grab that. If you don't like that there's always Kraftwerk! Smiler

Another Green World is definitely one of the greatest albums of all time, though i dont think it is exactly the type of album that lollavid was thinking about when aking for recommendations, so i didnt know whether to put recommend it or not. in the end i did, because even if it does not fit the kind of of music he/she was looking for, it really is sometihng that everyone should hear.

the following is a link to an album reviewed by TMT today. they gave it 4.5/5 and i saw the silimar artists were electronic stuff i like, so i went to the link and checked out. fat cat lets you preview the record (which is great, i think every label should do this if they have the cash), so go check it out, i think dntel and notwist fans will dig (most of) it...i know i do:

eggTweedyegg'a recommendations are good albums, but not what the poster was after.

You will probably like Junior Boys' new album So This Is Goodbye.
