I know he could be put in electronic or in hiphop. If they had a category for instrumental hip-hop and organic electronica i would put it there.

I just wanted to see if anybody else appreciated this artist as much as i do.I do use the word artist.I think daedelus epitomizes what it takes to be a true artist in todays over-populated musical world. Not saying other musicians are not great.I just think it takes something to be daedelus and make this kind of music.

First off he is really busy releasing 7 albums already including collabos with radioinactive and busdriver "the weather" and the appropriatlet titled instrumental remix of said album "rethinking the weather".Also the so-so collaborartion with frosty as snow patrol.Besides being prolific...most of his work stays similar...but doesnt. It is kind of wierd...you can pick up certain aspects of his style of production. In the same vein though i think he is ever-evolving especially from "invention" to "of snowdinia".Which I love.I amnot a huge fan of "a gent agent" but it is inmy collection.

I first heard of him on Her's Is his debut album.I put it off and didnt really think about it until "invention" came out and re-kindled my interest. This review had a big part in it.I still think it is one of the more informative and insightfull reviews pitchfork has done. Also of the articles i happend to know of.I am sure there is alot more info out there on daedelus that i have not found. I am just curious to hear what more people think about him.

I have tried to gather together most of his work. From his remixes and varying 12".To his work that has been remixed by the likes of prefuse 73, madlib, anti-pop consortium and venitian snares among others.

I kind of thought of this in the last couple hours so sorry if it is scatter brained and misspelled.I think they call that stuff character.

Anyways.Feel free to post thoughts and info that u have found.

Is he the new king of found-sounds?Very interesting sample choices.I also love the accordian sample from madvillainy taken from one of the tracks on invention.I cant remember wich one off the top of my head.

I love the Weather. People I know absolutely fucking hated it, and I can definitely understand why To me it's the sort of thing that completely flips my idea of what hip hop should be.

I've heard both Invention and Of Snowdonia and loved them. Of Snowdonia is one of my favorite albums of the year. I had heard the Weather before I heard Daedelus' solo work, and I didn't expect the personality to carry over so well.

I would undoubtedly say that Daedelus is talented as fuck and deserves more attention. Those who have not heard him download Of Snowdonia.

I totally agree buck.I actually like "invention" better.Just because the drums and beat rythems share alot more with idm and a little with drum and bass style beats.

But yes...the waether and rethinking are great...and i cant wait to see where he is willing to go next.I am sure it will be soon!

this is kind of off and on this subject.

I noticed in the xlr8r article that i posted above. That daedelus and jimmy tamborello aka. Dntel where going to be apart of a compilation on simball records.

It is very unique it has:

99 tracks and has 84 different artisits

each track is 45 seconds long.

Some of the artists include
electric company
dj spooky
chicks on speed
dntel
safety scissors
figurine
john tejada
solvent

and many others.

It sounds like a wierd experiment...but seeing as it was only 10 bucks and only 1 dollar to ship.I bought it...I could be in for a huge letdown...but i am really excited to get this album.

I am going to search for some reviews or articles or anything on this release...and i will post anything i find.

Has anybody else heard of this?Or is interested in it?If anybody can find out any more info.It would be greatly appreciated?

Maybe it should be in its own category.

Seriously, this guy has been involved with practically every CD I've reviewed this year but I've never actually heard his stuff specifically. He played on the phattest track on Prefuse 73's One Word Extinguisher.
