Incredible ambience and attention to detail on this album. I'm a headphone listener and there is so much subtle ear-candy on this record that I keep jumping in, hoping to discover a submerged bass pulse, or pirate-radio static fuzz that I never noticed before.
I think Burial has a wonderful ear for the essential elements that compose a track. He doesn't pile layers when they aren't needed, he doesn't oversample the vocals because the words are more effective in repetition, and he doesn't complicate his beats to the point where they no longer carry the song but distract from it. Bravo.
As a fan of any and all electronic music I believe this album is one for the history books. Its probably the best album I've heard in 5 years. It may achieve the cult like status of Leftfield: Leftisim. Time will tell.

So, the first time I listened to it, I wasn't impressed. I've got a friend who's obsessed with Dubstep an he hyped it to be the 2nd coming of the lord and savior, Jesus H. Christ.
But, after giving it another shot, I was pretty impressed. I hate this crap. Every time I'm getting ready to set my list in concrete, I hear something else from this year that makes me think "Hmm.. where will this fit in? What should I take out, move? Does this really deserve a spot?" IT'S SO FRUSTRATING!!
Quite possibly the best album of 2007. Absolutely astonishing.
That really is all I have to say about this album. It's just incredible, on the strength of Untrue I also got a copy of the first album which is equally stunning.
Electronica awards are destined (if the industry has any sense) to head the way of Burial. The end.

completely captivated from initial listen. breathtaking. 'archangel' and 'ghost hardware' are absolutely flawless. the album on whole is extremely dynamic in its quietudes.
"...The term endorphin rush has been adopted in popular speech to refer to feelings of exhilaration brought on by pain, danger, or other forms of stress, supposedly due to the influence of endorphins. However, this term does not occur in the medical literature..."
fron now on this term should occur in the musical literature beside the word "untrue".
Gorgeous. I've been listening since it's release, and it just keeps hitting. I just wish I had listened to the debut when it came out last year - that one blows me away, too.
I v tried to like that album and i really mean it, but even if the mood and the melodies are warm and beautiful , the sound of the beats is too metallic and cold for my ears.
I definitely like it but right now, it's hard to figure out how much I like it... it's hard to say what kind of rating I would give it as it's not something I'm crazy about.
Burial does an amazing job of creating atmosphere, that's for sure. While I really like several tracks ("Archangel" and "Etched Headplate" foremost among them), I can really only take the sameness of this album in small doses. I guess since electronic music in general is far from my favorite genre, it's no surprise that, despite the clear artistry of Untrue, it just can't hold my interest for too long.

Those are my favorite tracks as well. And I feel the same way about the album. I like it, but I don't think it's the best electronic album in years...and I do like electronic music. It's certainly unlike anything else I've heard, but it just doesn't hold my interest like for example, Justice, Clark, or Ellen Allien does. Maybe dubstep just isn't for me.
This is an incredible record. I still listen to it regularly and it hasn't worn out its welcome since I first listened to it months ago.
In time I feel it will be regarded as a classic. His emotional range has deepened considerably since his first record. This is beautiful, beautiful stuff.

7-7.5/10
I'd add two whole points to that score without any hesitation.
