Anyone heard any great albums that have come out this year yet? There doesn't seem to have been much critical acclaim for any as of yet, but I'm interested to hear what people are listening to.
Not all those who wander are lost.

Nothing yet really. I wish Boards of Canada would get off their asses and put some music out (like, more than once every 4 years), but I haven't heard anything from that camp.

Amon Tobin's Foley Room is pretty spectacular in my opinion. It's probably my favorite album released this year. I don't know much about electronic music, but I do think plenty of people would like it. I'm pretty sure it's been getting pretty good reviews, I know pitchfork gave it and 8.1.
I'm not sure what genre this would fall under, but what about Sex Change by Trans Am? I think it's an excellent instrumental rock/ electrnic album. And it definately rocks...

Black Moth Super Rainbow has a new record coming out. I think they share a similar aesthetic to BoC with their hazy analog synths. Of course if you hate vocoder then it's a dealbreaker, but a lot of their past stuff has been a great mixture of challenging textures/sounds and great hooks. We'll see how good it is when it drops later this year, although the new track "Sun Lips" is streaming on their website www.blackmothsuperrainbow.com and it is pretty addictive.

Haven't I already mentioned several times that this album is great? Hmm... no respect.
Hey, electro fans... did you notice that 'From Here We Go Sublime' currently sits top of the list for best of 2007 on this website? Don't get me wrong, I'm into the album, nowhere near my favourite of all time or anything, but I guess where I'm heading with this is... do you think it's appeal would really be that diverse? A lot of discussion I've heard from other electro enthusiasts regarding the record is "Yeah it's a well made album with clever ideas.. but it's not really the kind of electro I'm into." I think people who love that particular style within electronic music will love this record, but well, I don't really see it going beyond that audience. I mean, look at the comments underneath the review snippets. Some burned dudes there. I understand how a metascore is generated, and I know we are not half way through 2007 even, but is this album the best of the best, across all genres? Cats pajamas for some maybe... I'm just imagining a lot of people grabbing this album and wondering what the heck is going on. Who knows maybe it will open a few minds, I just think it's funny it's so up there. When I first heard the album I thought it was interesting, but didn't really think it was the most shinning example of electro so far this year, let alone expect to see it topping 'best of' lists.

I like the Gui Boratto, but the songs just are too damn long and repetitive for me. A cool album that I'm really enjoying at the moment is Afraid to Dance by Port-Royal. Sort of ambient, though it is not without beats. Nothing electronic has blown me away yet this year like Silent Shout and Nathan Fake's Drowning In A Sea of Love did last year.

Hmmm. For some reason I thought they were a psychedelic rock band. If they're electronic and something like BoC, though, I'll have to give them a try.

It's a truly bizarre mixture of collaborations. Fans of the unusual and extraordinary will love it... Might take a few listens for others... No doubt some will be left scratching their heads. One for the open minded and adventurous. Not just beeps, beats, and static hisses, it's lyrically pretty strong too. Don't expect 'Life is Full of Possibilities', this one is something else!

I'm diggin the remixes of "Love Ya" and "What Am I Fighting For?" by Unklejam. Lots of fun. Also, I'm really into "Zdarlight" and "Pogo" by Digitalism at the moment.
The Field album still gets a terrifying amount of play as well. I can't stop playing it.

What do you guys think of the new Infected Mushroom album? I think it is worth mentioning and "Eat it Raw" is a great track that has the duo going back to their old sound.
