If you want to become a member in good standing by engaging us with some discussion on other topics first, you could post a link as a signature. But only if. Cool

Expanding on mark's comment: if you come in posting links and not doing anything else, your posts will be deleted. You can, of course, add your web address as your signature and, if you post in a thread, all will see it. This is a discussion forum, and we don't take kindly to folks whose only motivation is to promote their product/service/ideology/mashup/etc. The forum codes of conduct state this explicitly:

10. Do not post just to sell a product, promote a website, etc. Posts are for legitimate discussion of relevant topics only.

well by asking that question and receiving a few responses i must therefore of created a post with "legitimate discussion of the relevant topic."

anyhow if one wanted to "discuss" ones mash up it seems that it would only be possible if other people were to hear it thus creating a basis for the said discussion am i right or do we need to discuss this matter further?

philosopherEric i see that you are from Atl,what do you think of the people there that constantly harass tourists by begging for money and following them around the streets to their hotels?
I just got back from ATl and i must admit the amount of times i got approached kinda put a downer on my time there and it made me anxious anytime i went anywhere.

To answer both questions:

1. If you started a couple of threads (or contributed to existing ones) that were not merely to pimp your own mashups and remixes, I think you'd develop a reputation that would allow you to get a fair response. If your first post (or third, or tenth) is "Hey...look what I made...whaddaya think?", I'd be willing to bet the regulars in these Forums will be brutal. Really brutal. We are usually quite suspicious of those who appear to have ulterior motives...like, those who don't care what others have to say but merely want to say/sell/promote whatever it is they're hawking and move on. I'm not accusing YOU of that...the fact that you took the time to ask puts you above those folks already.

To your second question: I work less than a block from Five Points, the "hub" of downtown Atlanta, and I, too, am regularly bombarded with aggressive panhandlers. While overly aggressive panhandling was already illegal, the city passed an ordinance last fall to make ALL panhandling illegal. Unfortunately, they don't enforce it. I'm accosted by aggressive and annoying panhandlers all day long, and it drives me nuts. My office is LITERALLY right across the street from the park they congregate in, and I can't dodge them. I've got a friend on the city council. I'll pass your anecdotal tale on her...

Let me get your topic started for you.

Why do you make mash-ups? I don't see any artistic backing in them. They seem kinda pointless and are generally annoying (although I love me some girl talk and the gray album was awesome... I prefer it over the black album actually).

I'm not attacking you, just curious as to your motivation and ideology.

You love Girl Talk. And yet you don't see the point in making mash-ups... Confused Ok. Well, have you ever been to a party? Club? Dance?

Girl Talk's mash-up of Grizzly Bear's 'Knife' is incredible...really just mind-blowing stuff. Must be heard to be believed.

Yeah, I don't really listen to mashups either, Boarder. Occass do I see something interesting in mashups, but not often enough to inspire me to listen more frequently. I don't really see the point of them in most instances, sure there are parties, but I generally stick to house, trance, drum n bass, hip hop, and reggae, which allot me more than enough genres to make sure that party music doesn't get stale.
