My heroes of the 90's .... things will be looking good, as these should be released in the first half of '08. Considering how disappointing '07 was, I think electronic fans everywhere deserve this triple-treat.

I could go on, if you like.
You forgot Gui Boratto and Pantha Du Prince.
And LCD Soundsystem and Burial.
Then again, I don’t dig techno too much.

Untrue is good, but I'm still not sold on the hype it's gotten.. inside and out of the DnB circles. It's nice to hear something refreshing and subdued, but at times I think it's too subtle.
not holding out much hope for new prodigy... kinda thinkin their day is over. massive and portis are definitely gonna be interesting.. i try not to get my hopes up for stuff like that, though. too many long time coming albums like that just end up underwhelming.
2007 was a GREAT year for electronic music though.
I'd say oh-seven was the best year for techno since I've begun listening to music religiously, much like how 2006 was a great year for rap and 2005 was a great year for indie rock.

All the artists you guys are mentioning are like super indie; in general no one cares about them. Hate to be harsh but Prodigy, Portishead and Massive Attack were the real gurus of the 90's. Trip Hop was huge back then. I know things are different these days, with all the talk about Amon Tobin and Burial and whatnot everything is indie-fied and these artists will never see the light on the Top 40. My friends heard Burial in my car and they couldn't stand it they'd rather listen to the radio, but Prodigy they are cool with. And based off of recent interviews of Prodigy it sounds like they've got their shit together so I have high hopes, also the new song from their Greatest hits was awesome!!
I understand that electronic was nice and all in '07, but when I say it's making a comeback I really mean it's making a comback. Of course I could be wrong, and the albums may turn out mediocre and go the way of Chemical Brothers and Fatboy Slim but they really mean a lot to me.

Burial and Amon Tobin weren't "indie-fied" until their most recent albums came out. The only people I know who were psyched about (or even knew about) the new Burial album are huge Dubstep fans.
Prodigy, Portishead, and Massive Attack have all had massive hit albums on the "indie scene" and are completely blown out of proportion... Portishead is the only one of those three that I will listen to, and trip-hop in general is a really dry field for me.
EDIT: Actually, after reading your post again, it seems like that's what you're syaing. No one cared about them prior. The difference is that to people who like House, Amon Tobin matters. To the people that like dubstep, Burial matters. They just happen to be getting their due now, rather than being has-beens (like the Chemical Brothers, they used to be excellent but the new album was horrendous).
i think that we should never underrate a new Massive Attack album. they are much more than just a trip hop band n its totally wrong to see them only as a 90s band.their last album "100th Window" (released in 2003) was brilliant n musically never sounded out of place .i can easily compare it with any 2007 release. btw , i could easily use your previous points about Massive Attack against a favourite (metacritic n mine) band (radiohead anyone?).just change the name of the band in the previous posts... btw , i m not rerally sure if Burial's "untrue" is better or most important than "100th Window"...
i could say the same things about Portishead.I agree that they belong in the 90s (with two classic releases) but we should not forget that at least Beth Gibbons offerd us with Rustin' Man one of the most beautiful and haunted album of the 00s" in 2002 ("Out of Season").
these two bands , imo , are still capable of great things and i really cant wait to hear their new stuff.we should wait n see in every case...
I'm just taking Cyrone's comment about "super indie" into question. I really don't understand if that's bad or good... most people who are really into "electronic music" would say that a more popular artist like Justice or Daft Punk are "super indie" while someone who doesn't listen to anything but rock music would say that Justice is "super indie" because it's "underground" (which it's not at all).
And don't go getting ahead of yourself with the Burial assumptions, this album has brought dubstep to a lot of people who had never listened to it before; much in the same way that Portishead and Massive Attack brought triphop to the masses.
I don't like triphop. I've tried plenty of it and I have yet to find any triphop that I think is worth keeping on my harddrive, much less buying. But, that's just my opinion. I'm not excited about any of those releases for this year, although you can bet I'll be listening to them as soon as they leak... I'll acknowledge that they're a big deal. Triphop isn't my style though.
