This album shows an amazing transformation from his previous releases, his short time with Warp has yielded great results.

Fire Ant and Sugarette are some of the best tracks of the year. Can't wait to hear what he brings out in the future.

It's good to see Bibio branch out.

However, I kinda miss his distinct guitar sound/style on the new record. Definitely good to see him explore different styles (successfully) though.

I really like the vibe that this record has; it seems very fragile, yet the quirkiness and the variety of styles that are melded onto this record keep my attention perked the whole time. I'm going to give it more time, but right now, I would say it would land in my top 20 for the year so far, I'm just not so sure if it has the strength to crack my top 10. We shall see!

This is so much better than that previous album. I couldn't stand that thing. It was like a less interesting Boards of Canada. Ambivalence Avenue is very fun and easy on the ears. Great beats.

Yes, a breath of fresh air and much bettr than his other 2009 album. For a while, it felt like Wilkinson would only be able to write music one way but this new venture works wonders. And his singing has vastly improved, much more confident and assured.

Can't wait for this to arrive from Amazon next week! Big Grin I love all of Bibio's work, though Vignetting seems a bit stale. Fi is brilliant though.

An Ambivalence Avenue Story

I was at (or rather in) a bucks nite on the weekend and, more than anyone else there, the groom and I ended up getting ourselves well and truly knocked out of the park - it certainly was nowhere near Kansas.

It's always a good and bad thing when you see the sun coming up while you're still standing somewhere unfamiliar with a beer in hand.

Anyhoo - that day whose beginning was rudely announced to me by the sun went on from there and shortly afterwards I walked the long way home and after all too briefly collapsing, I awoke with a sore head, took more painkillers (these one's were from a doctor) and plonked myself in a sun chair in my back yard.

Not hoping for much, living would do, I put on Ambivalence Avenue, which I had downloaded after seeing it discussed on this forum. As the quirky joyful dreamy beats and choruses danced over me I found my grimace turn into a smile, my slump into a head nodding seatedness, my limp arm into a proud right angle supporting a beer. And verily, I say unto yous, did Bibio command me "awake, Slotharus, awake" and lo, I did.

The sun retreated and I staggered smiling into the evening, hoping I would remember to thank all of you at metacritic for the little lifesaver you pointed me toward.

Don't Panic!!!
