I love Daft Punk. "Discovery" is one of the best albums of the past ten years.

Yes, Daft Punk has made the best dance music of this decade, in my opinion.

Discovery is incredible, Homework is good, and Human After All has some great tracks.

I think there is more to this band than a vocoder and laptop, and I would be interested in finding out more about their production and music-making process.

"Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" is my favorite vocoded song ever.

But technologic is a classic already, even if it is overplayed; and it is going to be one of the most sampled songs ever, I would imagine.

And robot rock has a killer riff. But otherwise, you're right.

I "dj'ed" one of my boarding school's dances and I put on one of the songs off Discovery and next thing I knew they were asking for me to just spin the album. I was cool with that. Cool

Yeah, these two robot dudes are pretty amazing. I'm listening to the live set they played at Coachella last year and it's amazing. This is the third time I've listened to it today. Cool

I just caught their act at Lollapalooza this past weekend. Wow!!!! That LCD pyramid thing they come out of is phenomenal. What a light show. I do think their music sounds MUCH MUCH better live then in the studio. Just my opinion........but......WOW.

Discovery is a modern classic. To argue otherwise would be ridiculous. Homework is also quite good, though it's a little uneven. Human After All demonstrated, above all else, a deficit of ideas; it was too repetitive, too lackluster -- a colossal disappointment. (I'll admit, however, that it does sound MUCH better live).

I missed 'em at Lollapalooza this year (heard it was great though), but I was part of the crowd at the Coachella show last spring. Best. Concert. EVER. Cool

I like them better as something to dance to, but not to listen to.

Then again I know nothing about electronic music.

Well, Daft Punk and Radiohead are great (and accessible) places to start.

From my blog:
"Finally, a legit copy! The new live album, Alive 2007, by legendary electronic group Daft Punk is playing on my speakers right now. To tell the truth, although I love Daft Punk, I wasn't really excited about this. The problem with a live Daft Punk album is that I figured it would lack the feel of really being at the show and wouldn't have the quality of a legit, studio album. Alive 2007 proves me wrong though. The mash-ups are spectacular, blending all different tracks together, allowing them to build up until you feel like your body is going to explode, then falling back out, allowing your body to finally relax and continue dancing.

I probably don't have to say it, but I hate dancing. I just don't do it; but, there are a few situations that just make me dance... I can't hold it in. Crystal Castles make me dance, James Chance makes me dance, The Flaming Lips make me dance, Liquid Liquid make me dance... now, I have another go-to guy to get my ass shaking. I guess Daft Punk is one of those bands that is hard to doubt, especially when they're live show is legendary.

One of the best parts of this live album is the crowd. Leaving the crowd in the mix, rather than turning them way down in the mix like on many live albums, was genius. In order to feel like you're experiencing a live Daft Punk show, all you have to do is close your eyes and dance (throwing some extra chemicals in your system might not be too bad an idea either).

Daft Punk are one of those rare bands that anyone can appreciate; when I was at boarding school, everyone liked Daft Punk, everyone. They have an ability to bring all different people together through excellent beats and silly robot voices. Why the combo makes for everyone having a good time, I cannot explain.

Consider Daft Punk to be X (or beans or rolls or thizz, etc) chemists... well, they have a new brand ready to melt your brain."

Check out my blog in order to hear 4 of the tracks I uploaded Big Grin

yeah... if u like daft punk , there is a compilation series you should check out called "Euro Club Hits" --

it's pretty clear that dance music is coming back around the world -- just check the recent big American hip-hop and R&B hits which are clear rip-offs of the european dance style.....

here's the direct iTunes link to the "Euro Club Hits" series.....

I just listened to Alive 2007 today, and I very much like. It's one of those odd live albums that I would buy.
