Well, I love everything lawrence has done.Especially this album, it is fabulous. This is an album that you could make an arguement for mature house music. You could listen to this album under any context...not just extremely loud in a club.

Yasume - Where We're From Birds Sing A Pretty Song
A long time ago after reading a review I made a note to check out this band. I finally did today, and I'm glad. It's from 2003, from City Centre Offices, and it's fantastic. Mostly it consists of beautiful ambient washes played over skittering beats, with melodies sometimes thrown in.

That sounds like it could describe half of City Centres artists and albums.I have always had a small place for this label of artists...ever since the first bunch of 7" where released.I have not kept up so much as the cds have been piling up from them. But i really love this label and find this description fits well:
You wake up, make coffee, and sit on your porch in the morning sun. The cool air coming into your yard shakes tree leafs into a harmonious drone sound pulling you smoothly from a state of sleepiness into a state of reflection. This is the mood of which 'City Centre Offices' many talented artists will produce for you with stunning accuracy. I like to tell my friends, 'this label is for thinkers'.
Anyways...havent heard this album, but am sure it is quality.

Thanks RL for reminding me about this label.i have gone back and listened to alot of stuff that i truely enjoy and have missed alot of.
I love this board for that reason, reminders of stuff that you have not listened to for a while, and stuff that has just slipped through for whatever reason.

From the Ghostly International label, which I've never heard of. They mix guitar (and occasionally strings) into fantastic beats. Unlike a lot of electronic stuff I've listened to lately, this stuff is not repetitive or boring. There is a lot of variety. I'm really digging this stuff.

Ghostly international's great i am constantly looking out for what they are doing.Besides releasing a very fine record by dabyre. They have released probabbly one of my favorite singles of the year by Lawrence entitled 'Spark'.Which i have mentioned here before.
An album that somehow passed me up that i have really been liking alot is Casino vs. Japan 'Go Hawaii'.This is a really nice album. One to file under the ambient-electronic section but very well executed.

I'm glad you said something about how much you liked Four Tet - Dialogue and Boards of Canada - In A Beautiful Place Out in the Country, Imprezu. Yesterday I listened to A Beautiful Place... and those first 3 tracks are money.
It's been a long while since I listened to Dialogue. I remember kind of dismissing it as inferior to his later stuff. I'm about halfway through Dialogue right now, and it's much better than I remembered. Rounds is still my favorite though.
EDIT: Man, "Calamine" and "The Butterfly Effect" may be the best back-to-back songs Four Tet has ever done.

Whats up vykromond?? I am sure I am not the only one to admit missing your presence around here.Glad to see you are back.
I have recently just gotten through an extreme grime/dubstep/2-step phase that took up over a month of my listening time.Various mixes i found online as well as a few 12" and even fewer cd's.It seems as if the certain few who actually release music regularly, revel in the fact that it is hard as hell to get ahold of!
Anyways...My "normal" listening habits have taken back over and i have been listening to alot of indie rap and electronic stuff. On the electronic side...here is what i have been listening to and enjoying.
Folie-Eyepennies Broadcast-Tender Buttons Jason Forrest-Shamelessly Exciting Aswefall-Bleed V/A-I like it Vol.2 DJ Koze-Kosi Comes Around Matias Aguayo-Are You Really Lost Portable-Version Funkstorung-Return to Acid Planet Arpanet-Quantum Transposition Dominik Eulberg-Kreucht and Fleucht
Have not made my mind up on all of them, but for the most part all are different and enjoyable.
I am really thinking about digging back into my collection to albums that I have not listened too enough, or dislike, maybe some snap judgements that i should regret.
What about you?

I still know next to nothing of grime/dubstep. I feel like the genre sort of whipped by me, which is a shame since it seems really interesting.

I know exactly what you mean! In the last few weeks, albums have come out (or leaked, at least) by a few bands I have previously had a strong dislike for (the Constantines, My Morning Jacket, etc.). This makes me think that there had to be something there previously, or I wouldn't like their current offerings so much... which has led me to dig up their back catalogs, and more generally seek to reevaluate some music that I might not have liked at first. The problem is, the amount of music I don't like is even larger than the amount of music I do, and there's barely enough time to listen to the latter!

Ditto on Jason Forrest and Broadcast. Some other things I've been into: Goldmund - Corduroy Road Accelera Deck - Pop Polling Ola Bergman - The Satellite City Today (mixed by Superpitcher) Erstlive 001, 002, 003, 004 (these are great, I just got turned onto them this year) Fennesz/Sakamoto - Sala Santa Cecilia

Well.I have found that there is not a definitve source for information on releases/artists.This and This seem to have the best information.I just seem to find its and bits here and there.I certainly would be interested in working out a trade, maybe a few discs of grime for a few discs of something you think i might like? If you are interested PM me and we can work something out!

Today (mixed by Superpitcher)
I have been eating up anything superpitcher related from remixes to mixes to live sets. I would reccomend checking out the set he did on Beats In Space it is quite nice.Especially if you like the 'Today' mix.Which i absloutely love.
I would also reccomend Micahael Mayers mix "Immer", whichi just recently got and love.It kind of falls into the same sound as Superpitcher, very moody.

The new Skalpel is almost as good as last years, and last years was one of my all around faves.'konfusion' is a similar journey as the debut, but alot denser and has alot more detail.Whereas the debut was completley bold and upfront. This one is kind of hazy and has a complete background of music.
very nice album.

I've been hopelessly addicted to the Planet Mu catalogue lately (I've been a big Venetian Snares fan for a while). I think they're about where Ninja Tune was 4 years ago. They're prime to become one of the majors soon. Here's the best I've found so far: edIT - Crying Over Pros For No Reason (Planet Mu, 05.11.2004) Chevron - Everything's Exactly The Same (Planet Mu, 03.01.2005) Bizzy B - Science, Volumes 3-4 (Planet Mu, 03.01.2005) OOO - Upon Cycles (Planet Mu, 02.24.2004) Frog Pocket - Gonglot (Planet Mu, 08.02.2005) Capitol K - Sounds Of Empire (Planet µ, 07.05.1999) Nautilis - Are You An Axolotl (Planet Mu, 04.30.2002) Hrvåtski - Swarm & Dither (Planet Mu, 10.2002) Luke Vibert - Lovers Acid (Planet Mu, 04.04.2005)

I like planet mu alot as well.I just dont like some of the extreme stuff they put out.The reliance on pink noise, and the overuse of just "noise" in general is annoying.
I have been a fan of V-Snares for a bit, but find his stuff usually hit or miss with me.
I look into anything Luke Vibert touches. That Hrvatski album is very good as well.
I put planet-mu into the same category as schematic.Sometimes hard to listen to, but there is always some worth-while moments on every album.

Yeah, there are definitely a few totally unlistenable artists. But hey, I think that just means the label is trying. No label releases all stuff absolutely everyone enjoys.
Fennesz/Sakamotos' Sala Santa Cecilia is an electronic album I've been listening to pretty much non-stop for the last few weeks. If you're a fan of Fennesz's other work (don't have any Sakamotos albums), I would highly recommend this short little album (one song, 19 minutes).
I'm sure there will be a lot more discussion on this new album. Isolee "we are monster". Holy crap it's good. Get your hands on it. This could end up being album of the year.
I'm a little retro with electronic music. I like the deep house remixes, especially by Lazy Dog, otherwise I usually like the soulful classic house tracks, or old-school producers. My older brother used to do the rave sh*t culture thing so he has a collection of some 50 or so CD's which is a wide assortment of house and deep house tracks by various DJ's and producers. I remember back in the day when I was in middle school it was all my brother listened to -- so the stuff I got exposed to were the older stuff.
Is house dead? Maybe I just go to the wrong clubs (not that I'm looking for house... I don't really care for house music when I go to clubs, if ever, I just listen to it once in a while at home when I'm tired of my usual music)
Can anyone make any recommendations on an intelligent deep house production/remixes CD? Any help would be nice.
