At least electronic wise!!

The new swazak album 'loops from the bergerie'.
Is the shiite.

Easily the best work they have done so far.I have had it on repeat at work for a couple days now.The songs are extremely catchy and stick with you!

I love k7! btw. They continue to put out great electronic based music.

ok #2

I have been eating up anything Ricardo Villalobos touches.Especially 'alcachofa'.The king (or maybe prince) of minimal techno or microhouse has so much going on that it is hardly micro or minimal.Everything fits together so smoothly. If there was one artist i would reccomend from this genre to a person who knows nothing about it.It would easily be Ricardo Villalobos.

His first two mixtapes are both really good also.I just wish it would be easier to find his stuff.I have boughte 2 or 3 of his albums on import and the rest i have had to download. If anyone else knows a good sourse for picking up his stuff.Post it that would be really cool!

I really don't like Alcachofa. It strikes me as overstylized and yet purposeless. I'm not really a microhouse person, and it illustrates what I find annoying about the genre.

Oddly enough, I really like Thé Au Harem D'Archimède.

Thats funny...i had my copy of that stolen.I had a book of albums and the only one that got taken was that one!!!I have been robbed a few times lately maybe i should protect my stuff better...that is another story.

I personally love micro house or whatever u want to call it.Its great to spin at partys and such.It also i think take alot more skill to make. Its hard to make music without using 50 tracks. At least to make it interesting enough to want to listen too over again.

My fav tracks from Alcachofa are
'Easy Lee' -of course-
'I try to live(can i live)'
'Dexter' -of course-

-I think dexter is one of my fav electronic tracks ever...this one is great to finish upwith on your set...

and...

'Waiworinao' it would be even better if it waslike 3 min shorter and progressed faster into the percussion.Great Track though.

Did u like superpitchers new album 'here comes love'.Some say he will be the one to break out of the microhouse mold so to speak and become a big star.Well not big...but maybe the next singing "Richie Hawtin".Not that his style is even close to Richs but just in the shear amount of people who are using his records.

I still love Richie Hawtin. His newest platikman album wa so so.Oneof my fav album from his was under the guise 'F.U.S.E' an album called "Dimension Intrusion".That is an awesome fuckin record. That has been in consatnt rotation for years!

Any of you guys who like electronic know much about Faultline? A friend who likes a lot of electronic/noise/ambient stuff threw me a copy for Christmas. I haven't played it yet, but it's got guest vocals from Joe Arthur, Michael Stipe, and others. Any thoughts?

not to be a downer but fautlines debut album was a better than average outing. It had a kind of dedicated following from a certain crowd.

This album that u are speaking of is a re-release it came out in 2002.And most people where kind of crying sell out. With some of the high profile guests ans whatnot.I have heard it is a decent album.I guess depending on what extent of a fan u are of electronic music.

I personally have not heard the album but i have a bussy who is a fan...and he was not too happy with the release. But like they say 'to each is own'.You may love it.

I dont know i just read a few reviews...andmaybe my buddy has a slightly skewed opinion. You will have topost what u think when u listen to it.

I am gonna head over and try to get a copy myself!

I'll feed back after I listen to it. I'm not usually a big electronica guy...I like bits here and there (DJ Shadow was a revelatory live show for me) but it's not usually my deal. But my buddy Daniel swears that Faultline will do me right, so I'll let you know what i think...

Anybody who really likes Amon Tobin should check out-

The Clifford Gilberto Rythem Band 'I was young and needed money'

Alot less frantic of a pace. But still some heavy drums and very good jazzy melodies and vibes.Another one off from ninja tune i guess.I dont think they did anything else.

I have that Clifford Gilberto album, and every time I think about putting it on now, I put on Amon Tobin instead! Liked the album at first, but got bored with it pretty quickly.

Well...I downloaded a few new albums from a certain fav website of mine?

I have to say i am really exited about these 2 albums. They are actually both like a couple years old i think.

Farben-Texstar

Which is Jan Jelinek in disguise. But if u really listen to it and you know his work. You can hear it in there.Jazzy melodies below some heavy electronic production.A very enjoyable listen from beggining to end.

Bergheim 34-Its not for you,As it is for us.

This album is quite hard to categorize. But it is fucking awesome. The first track is killer and it just sinks its claws into u from the beggining and hold onto you throught.Great Album.

Both albums came out on the Klnag Elektronik label.Which happens to be a sub-label of the wonderfull 'playhouse' label. One of my faves.

I am also listeningto this album:

Kettel-Cenny Crush

Has anybody heard this.It is out on DUB.Which is short for djak-up-bitch.Dont ask me why.I thought it was a dub label like an the offshoot of reggae but its not thank god.It kind of has a prefuse 73 feel to it.Not as much chooping and dicing and a little bit more smooth but another winner. This is a very goos listen also.

Anybody who is a fan of Boards Of Canada?

There has to be like a million of you.

You have to check out an album by

Christ.-Metamorphic Reproduction Miracle.
Its out on Benbecula.

I swear of all the artists who have tried to reproduce the sound of 'Music has the Right to children' or any other BOC album.

This one is spot on.

Man i am passing out some wicked info here.Oh i forgot knowone on this board is really into electronic music.I see.

Must confess, the letters BOC made me think you were talking about Eric Bloom/Buck Dharma.

Sorry about that.

If I had to pick one Boards of Canada release, which would it be?

I gotta say it's not perfect, but Massive Attack's soundtrack to Unleashed (originally titled Danny the Dog) is quite good. They've done better, but the mood of the album is what brings me back to it. Also Dj Spooky's Dubtometry is fantastic, great for a road trip. Can anyone recommend anything out there like a Dj Spooky, Shadow, or Prefuse 73 that's tickling their fancy.

check out the avalanches.

Or anything from machine drum...especially his first one.

I could throw out some obscuro artists but that wouldnt help much.

Also some ones that come to mind

Req-Car Paint Scheme
Odd Nosdam-No More Wig for Ohio
Funkstorung-Appetite for destruction
Push Button Objects-Dirty Dozen
Dabrye-One/Three
Jan Jelinek-Loop Finding Jazz Records

Also check out Eliot lIpp it is self titled and is out on Scott Herren's(prefuse 73) label 'eastern developements'.It is worth checking out especially if u like prefuse.Has kind of a more lo-fi feel to it than prefuse.

I got a good list of some lost records or some older stuff that may have slipped through the cracks...but should be payed attention to.

Land of the Loops-Bundle of Joy
Koop-Sons of Koop (hard to find)
Ronnie and Clyde-In Glorious Black and Blue
Nightmares on Wax-Smoker's Delight
Caia-Magic Dragon
Ian O'Brien-A history of things to Come
Hardkiss-Delusions of Grandeur
Ismistik-Remain
Speedy J-G Spot

I passed alot of these albums up myself also...But luckily i found all of em' in second play bins!Cant say much for the people who originally bought em'.These are some great tunes. You may have to dig deep...but they are worth it.Especially the KOOP album...amazing.

Also you should check out Maker-Honestly.It boders more on rjd2 territory and is more hip-hop than any of those. But maker is a very underrated sample based producer ala a shadow or rjd2.I have mentioned that album somewhere in here before. The album also has probabbly one of the funniest skits ever...it is on the last track and it is hidden...just let the last track go.It is worth it.Very funny.

I personally loved optometry...and hated dubtometry.I have been a fan of dub for as long as i have been listening to music...and i found the remixes where extremely redundant and very poor.

If u want to check out some quality dub look for anything on the label 'on u sound'.Basically everything they put out it is extremely high quality dub.

I should clarify, giving Dubtometry fantastic status was my bad, I think that it is enjoyable when you want something you can ignore or have in the background, besides I like Under the Influence and Modern Mantra a hell of a lot better; what was I thinking when I typed "fantastic"? I'm sorry my brain sometimes goes on strike. Anyway thanks for all the reco's, I've got a lot to process now.

I've been listening to a lot of:
Venetian Snares (Drill 'n' Bass)
Bogdan Raczynski (glitchy breaks and whatnot)
Capitol K (glitchy downtempo)
Kid 606 (hip-hop influenced gabber)
Laurent Garnier - The Cloud Making Machine (Mute, 02.22.2005)
Swayzak
Dosh
and A Guy Called Gerald's new album
