My picks :

Kinks - You really got me (1964)
The Seeds - Can't Seem To Make You Mine (1965)
Velvet Underground - I'm Waiting For The Man (1967)
The Stooges - No Fun (1969)
MC5 - Motor city is burning (1969)
Modern Lovers - She cracked (1976)
New York Dolls - Looking for a kiss (1973)
Big Youth - Wolf in sheep's clothing (1975)
Richard Hell & the Voidoids - Blank Generation (1977)
Suicide - Ghost Rider (1977)

For my justification of these choices, and links to youtube videos of each song, go to http://musictodiefor.wordpress.com/10-songs-that-influenced-punk-music/ .

I'm going to say "Helter Skelter" by the Beatles.

And these as well:
"Raw Power" - Iggy & The Stooges
"Down On The Street" - The Stooges
"Well, Well, Well" - John Lennon
"Rip Off" - T. Rex
"Fortunate Son" - CCR
"Black Dog" - Zeppelin
"I Had Too Much To Dream Last Night" - The Electric Prunes
13th Floor Elevators - Just about anything of theirs.
"Kick Out The Jams" - MC5
"Horses" - Patti Smith

I'd do better with post-punk influences, but that's not the topic here.

I'd be down for throwing some around if you make the thread. We can have fun dissecting the Pop Group and This Heat together! (maybe Grabblegarrr will join!)

? and the Mystirians is the first band to be titled "Punk Rock" but
I would have to go with
MC5 - Kick out the Jams
and
Black Sabbath - Paranoid
for musical influence on punk to come.

Maximum Jack put together a couple pretty great pre-punk playlists here.
