Constructive critisism (or otherwise) always appeciated...

Yeah, I know the intros are a little long and could use a little more of a hook or something, and yeah these are border line pop as much as punk, but whatever. surf-pop-punk...wtfe.

A couple old 4 track demos. I am considering getting back into the scene. Give these a listen and let me know if you think it's worth my time.

Thank you!

Hope these links work...

The intro's in both do seem a bit long at first listen. They also have that cliche feel of when you ever go to write a song yourself & you know the chord progression in your head is kinda copying all the things you've heard before & expect.

But by the 3rd listen they sound fine. I was just talking about the intro's above, the pre-verse in Reef Road rocks & I prefer the singing in Favourite Trunks, chord progressions good too & there was a good drum fill about 3/4 way through.

I definetly think you should get back into it, the song-writing is above average but not quite pro. I also don't think your sound is that original. Most bands aren't but they seem to represent their influences in different proportions, creating their own space if you know what i mean, i don't think you've got that yet, it'd sound great live at club but not for an album.

also, is there meant to be no bass guitar or is it my computer speakers or that you don't know anyone who plays. Anyway work on the writing, I'm no-where near as good at it.

I listened to Reef Road. I liked the intro. Vocals were ok, but could be a lot better. I liked the instrumentals. It was in the style of an old Green Day song. (idk if that was a compliment or not)

But yeah. get back into it!

I wanted to thank you first.
Constuctive or not, it's all good... I can take it.
Besides, most of the crap out there today is exactly what you described, so I'm probably not that far off track.
I never had any intentions of being an innovator. I'm really just a pop-junky, honestly. Can't get enough of that sing-along melody BS (i.e. Nirvana, Green Day, Vines). Like I said, it may not really be PUNK, but it is fun.

Cool, Thanks
I know the singing needs work. These where done on a 4 track with minimal editing capabilities. I know, Excuses, excuses. I aint no Clay Aiken... thank god.

Very good feedback man, thanks. You are too kind.

You are correct, there is no bass. I was in a band at the time but this was some stuff I did on my own on a 4-track at home. PC-sound-card for drums, which still sound a little cheezy to me, but it's just a demo right? Then there are 2 guitar parts, mixed down to 1 track, then vocals added. I wory most about my vocals being sucky.

As far as originality, I understand your point, and I agree. But like I said above, I never intended to be an innovator, I just want to have fun with it. Maybe after a few more songs and some time a unique sound will develop... maybe... maybe not.

Thanks again.
