In the early 90s the Beastie Boys made it fashionable to namecheck Bad Brains. I'll admit I never got it. I like "Pay to Cum" and "Sailin' On" alright, but I don't love them and I have never been able to listen to an entire BB album. I still own Bad Brains; I Against I and Rock for Light in the hope that I might someday come around on them.

I prefer Minor Threat to Bad Brains because of Minor Threat's more direct, generally more brutal approach.
No contest for me here. Minor Threat's "I Don't Want To Here It" would be on my list of top 5 greatest punk songs.

I also prefer Minor Threat to Black Flack.
Ditto. Although pre-Henry Rollins Flag gives 'em a good run for their money. And I do love Damaged.

Charged GBH over all of the above though.
This is just crazy talk.

Dead Kennedys takes the cake completely.
Love the DKs, they probably get the edge over Minor Threat and pre-Hank Flag because of their slightly larger discography.

I've also always been partial to the Adicts.. I'm a huge fan of Clockwork Orange AND they just have a lot of really good, fun songs. But, I don't see them to be all that punk. Mybe it's the DIY thing? The subversive attitude towards the Queen? Getting pissed about spilt beer?
The Adicts are kinda weird in that they totally embraced the original DIY aesthetic of the original punk rockers but they came along just a little too late. Their sound was a throwback too, and I think they don't get the attention they deserve because they were out of step with the British Post-punks of the time. "Chinese Takeaway" is a personal favorite, and it is almost cartoonish in nature. Not the kind of stuff serious boys from Suffolk should have been doing at the time.

What about Rancid's ...And Out Came The Wolves? It is one of the only recent punk albums that I've liked, reminds me of the Clash in a lot of ways.
I actually don't like The Distillers, NoFX, or other Rancid related projects (Lars Frederiksen & the Bastards, Transplants, etc.. except Op Ivy were damn good) or other Rancid albums really.
I haven't listened to Rancid in about 10 or 12 years, but I remember when I first heard them I really enjoyed them. I still own a cool double 10 Inch vinyl copy of Let's Go. I've also still got the Operation Ivy album which holds up pretty well. Other than that (and early Green Day), I didn't pay much attention to the 90s retro punk scene.

I'm not a big fan of modern punk, because they just seem to be rehashing what other bands perfected 25-30 years ago without really adding anything new.
However, I thought Rancid was one of the better modern punk bands. ...And Out Came The Wolves and Life Won't Wait were both pretty cool albums done in the spirit of the Clash, blending punk, rock, ska, and reggae.

Is that joking or.....?
Yeah, I'd say about 8% of my posts are serious. I initially had a comment asking if Radiohead was punk. I was hoping somebody had seen it.
As for punk, I'm not the world's biggest punk fan. I love the Clash, but could they even be described as punk anymore by the time London Calling came around?
