A legend, if only for Willy Lohman. And for marrying Marilyn...

My undergrad degree was in English, and Contemporary American Drama was my specialization. My thesis advisor was a friend of Miller's and he shared stories of Miller's kindness and genius with me often.

I planned on posting this early this morning when I learned of it but I couldn't decide where. This is the obvious place.

Miller is an icon now because I can't walk into a high school where they aren't reading or performing "The Crucible". Yes, he was married to MM 90% of her final seven years, so that's very important to all movie lovers who love MM. He did outlive her more than 42 years though!

Yes, Willie Loman. The quintessential loser.

Miller gave us a lot to be thankfull for in his literrary endevours, but sooner or later we must all shuffle of this mortal coil.

Oh, btw, has anyone seen "Insignificance"?

A great play wright - one of the few last ones who's plays had meaning before the theater was given its deathblow by television and films. The spectacles masquerading as theater in most major cities do not count and while I am certain that meaningful creative art is being created in countless little playhouses around the western world - i am equally certain that most people have not and never will bother to go see them.

Regardless death of a salesmen remains the contemporary play fo the ages. And the crucible will remain a personal favorite.

Yeah, it's sad to hear that he died. I really enjoyed reading "The Crucible" when I was in my English Class. Miller was a really good playright.
