so yeah, dave eggers is a total stud. i never read books, but my friend lent me staggering genius and i plowed through it. awesome. now, i'm on velocity. started: meh; currently: oh yeah. i can dig this stuff. but who else is in this league, in this style? who are his contemporaries, his influences? i want to have more eggers, but, unfortunately, there ain't much eggers to be had. i need more! i love eggers!

total stud.

check out McSweeney's for other authors in a similar style.

Michael Chabon and David Foster Wallace are both sort of similar.

if you like dave eggers' style, i would suggest john hockenberry's memoir, "moving violations." their writing styles are similiar. Smiler

dave eggers teaches at berkeley, where i go to school! Smiler i think so anyway, i believe he teaches in the graduate journalism department.

also, did write all those other books listed above? i've only read heartbreaking work of staggering genius, but i loved it Smiler

We're featuring three stories from McSweeney's Issue 18 on the literary discussion website Pettifog.net starting Jan 1. Our members will have access to electronic versions of the stories.

I don't know if any of you subscribe to McSweeney's Quarterly Concern, but this might be a good place for you to sample their writing. Check us out if you get time.
