Will Eisner passed away on January 3rd, 2005 at the age of 87 following quadruple bypass heart surgery.

If you were thrilled when Art Spiegelman won a Pulitzer for Maus, if you believe there is room in world for the graphic novel to be considered a vehicle for serious literature, you certainly owe thanks to Eisner for his tireless efforts as a champion of the form.

His book Comics and Sequential Art is still one of the best books on the nuts and bolts of the genre and contains valuable lessons on the nature of story telling for virtually an discipline.

A member of the Movie Justice forums says Dark Horse is going to publish a book based on a serious of conversations between Eisner and Frank Miller. It will be a fitting coda to a great career and life.
