Cormac McCarthy, a long time favourite of mine has won the prize for 'The Road', a book very popular with a lot of MC participants. I find this terrific news for a truly unique, uncompromising writer.

McCarthy is probably my favorite living American author. Of course, the true honor for The Road was its selection for Oprah's book club.

Oprah?? Really?? That magic moment of pop culture passed me by. What in gods name are all those fixed smile, hairsprayed goofs who sit in her audience to make of such a bleak book?? Kudos to Winfrey for picking it tho'

Never too early to consider next year's winner! Though I haven't read a really spectacular book written this year yet.
