back to the heart of the matter, star wars is awesome. han solo is awesome. Harrison Ford is so awesome i had to capitalize his name. but this is not awesome.

Yeah. To tell ya the truth, I was never that excited about a 4th Indiana Jones adventure because Ford is just soooooooooo old! I don't think he's going to be doing very much compared to what he's done in the past. I'm thinkin' he's basically gonna have the role of Sean Connery in the last movie with LeBeouf doing most of the action in this one.

At least Shita LeBeouf didn't play a young Han Solo in Star Wars I-III. Always wondered why Hans wasn't included in at least a small subplot in one of the prequels, they fit Chewie in there on III.

Yeah, I actually strained my eyes trying to locate the Millenium Falcon! My boy and I have actually discussed Han being somewhere in III, but he woulda been around 10 years old and NOWHERE near a battlefield. However, according to his Wookiepedia page, he did serve as a pilot for the Imperial Starfleet years after the Clone War!

I read the Han Solo chronicles when I was younger and according to the books (which are sanctioned into star wars canon by george lucas) Han was a nasty ass imperial pilot but he saw the mistreatment of the wookies, specifically our good ole pal Chewie. He saves Chewie and goes on the run.

Hey, Fry-man, I've found sumpthin' I think ya might enjoy! Wink The only thing that sucks about it is that ya gotta pay for it, but they are running a special that's right up our alley! What are you typin' about, is what you're probably asking yourself by now. So I'll tell ya: Mystery Science Theater 3000 has done their goofy commentaries on the "Star Wars" prequels, and for a limited time, you can download ALL 3 for 8.99! They have lotsa these things for all sorts of recent movies and they start at 3.99! You only need a computer that can play DVDs and the DVD of the commentary you want. Then you can download a Rifftrax Player (you only gotta do this once) and the witty banter you love to hear! Big Grin The Rifftrax Player automatically synchs the DVD with the commentary, so you can fast forward or rewind and never have to worry about trying to keep 'em together. Believe me, it's a difficult thing to do. When they first released the Special Edition "Star Wars" (VHS) movies, I sat 2 televisions next to each other and synched the 2 PERFECTLY. However, problems arose whenever an added scene arrived. I then had to pause the original and re-synch the two after the extra footage was over. Hard work, but it was worth it. You really don't notice HOW MUCH he's changed EVERY FRAME of those movies! I actually did it again with my DVDs when the finally released the original versions. This time, though, I have a widescreen television that could split into 2 screens that were the same size as my original "big t.v.". It was still a bit of a hastle to keep 'em in synch (especially since he completely changed Palpatine's dialogue in "Episode V"), but it was alot easier than doing it with a VHS tape! Smiler

I actually left this same link in the 'Star Wars vs. LOTR' thread. I was setting Alchemy straight on why Yoda did what he did in "Episode III". He/She actually typed: "Yoda gave up too easily". Eeker But he/she returned to say he/she just enjoys talkin' trash on flicks and that's when I figured he'd/she'd enjoy the Mystery Science Theater commentaries!

By the way, I was reading about Qui-Gon Jinn in Wookiepedia and it mentioned that Obi-Wan has his master's cloak draped over his couch in "A New Hope"! Is that cool or what?

Your devotion is unmatched, Mr Monkey. You probably understand better than almost anyone the changes Lucas made. Hope the holiday was a nice one, it was for myself. I have a nice little gift card I think I will use to purchase your recommendation in half a sec.

Also, I thought you might enjoy this spectacle. You can get caught in it for a few days.

I dunno, I've never actually dressed up as any of the characters. Wink However, it seems I'm the only one who has watched BOTH versions side-by-side. I even compared the differences between the VHS & DVD Special Editions, there are quite a few, ya know.

DAG-NAB-IT-ALL! It's just a white screen with black lettering that says: "FORBIDDEN: You don't have permission to access /images/starwarsgalaxybig.jpg on this server." Ya know, I've seen that a few times, is there something I need to download or sumpthin' like that to see these "FORBIDDEN IMAGES"? Confused

No, I don't think its your computer. I think its their server. Try this one. I don't have my copies of star wars with me in the dorm so I previewed rifftrax vids last night on youtube. They have some damn fine commentary on the Star Trek movies. I couldn't breathe I was laughing so hard. Definitely worth the money and the time synchronizing (though I haven't been able to preview it yet). There is also an attack of the clones chad vader commentary somewhere on youtube. Just type in rifftrax in youtube when you're bored and browse around. The matrix ones are pretty good.

No. "The Matrix" ones are flippin' hilarious! Big Grin "Free... your... mind. Now I gotta go! Wheeee!" or "It's not blood, it's my fruit roll-up!" had me rollin'! Have you seen "The Hudsucker Proxy"? That's the only way you could understand the "He's Hudsuckering!" comment. If you haven't seen it, DON'T RENT IT! The cover of the DVD gives away the best surprise in the movie! Call it extremely stupid marketing. I saw it on late night cable, so I had no idea what Tim Robbins' character had in mind for the circle drawn on a small post-it note to which he always added, "You know... for kids!" I recommend borrowing it from a friend (without the case, of course) or giving me your address and I'll mail you a copy (no charge). Fantastic movie!

You've definetly gotta get your hands on your "Star Wars" flicks! How do you leave something that important behind?! Confused

I don't have room here. Next year I'll have an apartment and a nice cabinet for my DVD collection (I've been slowly building up it; around 50. which is kinda of joke to yours).

Oh God!! My brother and I were obsessed with Star Wars Battlefront two summers ago. We played it for a week straight. Nothing else. We got really really good. Battlefront 2 was pretty good as well. There were actual space battles but I still have a soft spot for that Bespin map in Battlefront 1. Also the hero battles were fun. I was always Han Solo. But you could be General Grievous or evil Anakin or princess leia (she was kinda uesless).

In mass effect there is a big galaxy map and you can go anywhere you want . I'm in the mood for some good ole star trek movies right now after watching all those rifftrax vids. Which one is your favorite? I love First Contact and the last five classic cast movies.

Oh and I've seen the Hudsucker Proxy on HBO just a few days ago. Tim Robbins was ridiculous in it. I love him to death. and the Coen Brothers! Seen No Country for Old Men yet? Saw it last friday and loved it. Though I'm a big Cormac McCarthy guy too so I don't think I could have not liked it.

It just means you have better things to do than watch DVDs! Wink I'm basically bedridden so...

Yeah, I just got a PS2 last December. I had to wait in line for 8 hours to get it! Ya see, my boy was waiting for the PS3, but he had to go to work. So, he called me to come and sit in his spot while he was gone. I told him I wouldn't do it unless he gave me his PS2 and he agreed, but instead of giving me his old one, he bought me a NEW ONE! One of those cool tiny ones! So we both crapped ourselves last year, me over finally getting a BRAND NEW PS2 and him over finally getting the 12 discs that make up the first 6 "Star Trek" movies! Being a "Star Wars" fan, I ALWAYS had my sights on Battlefront! To be able to be a trooper or a droid was the coolest thing ever to me! The next "Star Wars" game I wanna get is the one where you get to decide whether you'll serve the Light or the Dark Side of the Force. I can't friggin' remember the name of it, but I know what the box looks like and you can bet I'll be owning that mug one day soon!

To tell you the truth, I can't say. I've only seen the early ones once... and it was all 6 in one day! And it's been years since I've seen the ones with the 'Next Generation' cast. I can tell ya, I wouldn't mind sittin' through any of 'em again though. It wasn't as torturous as I was expecting it to be. I just really love the fact that I can enjoy Futurama's "Where No Fan Has Gone Before" a whole lot more! Wink

quote:
Oh and I've seen the Hudsucker Proxy on HBO just a few days ago.
Then ya saw it just in time, huh? Wink Can you believe they actually show him holding a hula hoop on the DVD cover? Didn't you think it was funnier when you had no idea what the friggin' circle was all about? Big Grin I loved the ENTIRE CAST! Even the small players were fantastic! I absolutely loved Robbins' first day on the job. His "trainer" was such a jerk in a big hurry, wasn't he? ("File a faulty complaint... and they dock you!") And Buzz, the elevator guy? ("Hi ya, buddy!") Wonderful, just wonderful! If it weren't for insomnia, I probably never woulda saw it!

Seen No Country for Old Men yet?
Not yet, but I want to. I haven't been to the theater in quite awhile (stupid illness! Mad). However, my wife walked in with "Live Free or Die Hard" last night and it had a ticket for "Hitman" stuffed inside. I've never played the game, but the movie looks pretty darn action packed! So I'll probably get my painful tail to the theater because if there is one thing I DON'T believe in, it's wasting a FREE MOVIE TICKET! Wink

There are several star wars games where you can choose to be light or dark. The most notable is Knights of the Old Republic, which I highly recommend(ed to you the other day). Also, the Kyle Katarn Dark Forces series has some aspects of light vs. dark. Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast is the best in the series. Tell me if you're interested in either and I'll give you more info. Get them for PC if you can b/c the cheats for Outcast are absolutely amazing and KOTOR is only for xbox or PC.

*GRRRROOOOOAAAAANNNN* Frowner Only for the X-Box or PC? I never noticed that! Hey, could you still play the PC version with a PS controller if you have one hooked up to your computer for the emulator? That'd be cool 'cuz I play my PS2 on my computer monitor since it's a 21" LCD screen. If not, how the bloody 'ell do you play an action game with a friggin' keyboard? Isn't it annoying after holding a small, comfortable controller in your hands? Yeah, I know nuthin'. I haven't played a game on a PC since Oregon Trail and Asteroids. Unless you count Solitaire.

Oh, and yeah, you mentioned Knights... before, but this brain o' mine don't hold onto information like it used to! I honestly didn't make the connection. Roll Eyes

if you can ever get used to the mouse and keyboard combo for playing fps, you will find it hard to go back to using a controller, you can just aim so much faster with a mouse Cool

First, I'm very glad that you are taking part in our discussions myminsblank and Alchemy.

I have half-life 2 for both PC and xbox 360 (because I wanted to play episode 1 and 2 and portal and my PC is dying Frowner) and I think I'm a whole lot better on the 360. On the other hand, I played Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast on PC and then I went over to a friends to play on his xbox and I sucked. Its kinda weird. I'm much better aiming on the 360 but that is b/c of the abnormal amount of time I've played the Halos and Bioshock. I used to play counterstrike a lot and I never was the best sniper in the world. I like to boost my controller sensitivity to 9 though which makes everything go pretty durn fast.

However, Mr. Monkey, KOTOR is a RPG and is turn based and so it does not depend on caffeinated hand-eye coordination. I'm really not the biggest RPG fan in the world but I loved this game. When you do get it, I won't expect you to come on to metacritic for the next week or so.

on to other things: I saw this and wow.

Hmmmmmm. RPG, huh? The only one I've ever played all the way through was Final Fantasy VII... and that was because I had a Game Genie. Those friggin' summons were awesome! I would do that "Knights of the Round Table" and "Ultimate Behemoth" (I think that's what they were called. It was quite a long time ago!) on the smallest of creatures just because I had a code to have EVERYTHING from the git go and I was invincible! Those lyin' commercials! They made it seem like an action game! Still... I GOTTA get it! Smiler

That was the sweetest thing I've ever seen! I'm glad they disabled the comments, folks woulda made fun of that poor boy sumpthin' fierce and he sure as heck fire doesn't deserve it! Back in the day, when I used to work for a certain pizza place, there was a mentally challenged man that would come in with a job coach to do the things that we just hated doing. It wasn't anything bad or degrading, he would fold the boxes and put coupons on 'em or pick up the trash around the parking lot. Ya know, the little things. Well, there were these 2 drivers who were just AWFUL people! They would shake up a can of pop and open it in his face, trip him, talk about what a waste of life he was, and they would even scream, "I WISH YOU WERE DEAD, TIM!" It
