HELP!!! I bought this game for my ps2 (model scph-39001/97004 is the one I got) and it has trouble loading up. On the rare occasions it DOES load, it skips or freezes or both. I thought it was the disc so I returned it to the store for a new copy and it does the same thing... My ps2 plays all my other new ps2 games including Scarface & Destroy all Humans, I have no idea what is going on but I am so frustrated... does anyone have a clue what is going on and what I can do?? I really want to PLAY this GAME!!! ArrrgghhH! HELP!!!!!

The model that you have is USA V7/8 (SCPH-39001) and it is one of the more recent ones. I haven't heard of any problems with this particular model, the original versions had the now infamous "Disk read error" and past that they are all pretty much the same. I would suggest running an air duster over your system and then if that doesn't work try cleaning the lens. Past that I wouldn't know what to do if it only happens with that game in particular.
Again, the earlier models have difficulty reading particular formats, but that really shoudl not be an issue for you. Give Sony a call and see if they are willing to fix it.

Thanks for your tips, I am going to try cleaning my lens since I already did the air-duster thing with the door open on the ps2 with no luck. Do you know how to reach Sony other than their voice-prompt automated hell? I want to know how to get them to fix it if this lens-cleaning doesn't work. Thank you!!! Also I have noticed with Scarface (since I learned to play it a bit), I can only get so far, then it freezes up and the sound skips but the screen stays frozen... I cannot save my game, advance, or do anything.... I am beyond frustrated with this d@#% ps2 machine of mine!!! What to do, what to DO???

I would recommend investing in a 'Disk Dr.' they are not particularly expensive and can prevent or repair disk damage. Regardless of the source of your difficulties, having flawless disks will never hurt. With regards to contacting Sony, I doubt that there is a simple way to get in contact them, find something fun to do while your on hold.
