What's going on with this game?

Is it truly coming out this coming week?

Is anyone going to buy it?

Is anyone looking forward to it?

I'm...undecided. I'm currently playing through Kingdom Hearts I for the first time and I think there are very good things about it, very bad things about it, and good things about it that just don't interest me (Namely, all the Disney references).

How about I list what I like and dislike about I, and people who play II can tell me what they think I would think of II?

Like:

-The main premise of different worlds and the original characters.
-The very basics of the battle system are done very well
-There's a normal level which is easy but not too easy, and a hard level which is actually hard
-The graphics and style

Dislike:

-The fairy tale-ness of the plot
-I don't care about Disney references anymore and all the Square references so far are from FFs 7, 8, and 10, which I don't like.
-The camera control is outrageously bad. I frequently have to rotate the camera just to see where the heck the enemy is.
-Most regular enemies are beatable just by button-mashing
-Too much delay between actions so you can't make reflex moves.
-You can't activate items and special actions without maneuvering through a menu -- there should be shortcuts like there are for magic.
-Having to do that dumb minigame every time you go to a new place

So..yeah, basically.

Here are the biggest improvements that would incrase the likelihood that I bought KH2, in order.

-Fixed camera angles
-Improved recovery time between moves
-Better menu shortcuts so you can do a special attack without crippling your ability to do a regular attack
-More references from Square games that I like
-Elimination of that stupid space shooter-esque minigame.

As far as the Square references go, Nomura, I think, is behind character design for KH, and he prefers to use his own characters, which are those from 7, 8, and 10. Two chararacters from the other games are reported to be in KHII, though, those being Vivi from IX and Setzer from VI.

As for me, I rented KH once long ago and I remember it being decent but on the whole not my type of game. I've heard great things about KHII and I've heard that the battle system and camera are far better than those of the original, but I'm not currently interested.

I reserve the right to be entirely wrong.

Well I loved the game and was looking forward to the first one when people were mainly bashing it. As for the camera, it will be changed and be mapped to an analog stick this time which I believe will let you control it.

I loved Kingdom Hearts, and have been following the second installment like a religon. Kingdom Hearts II will be shipped on the 28th, and will hit shelves on the 29th/30th. It's getting AMAZING reviews, so I reccomend you buy it. Even the notoriously harsh Famitsu gave it a 10/10/10/9 (39).

And Nomura mentioned that the characters from FF were more of "guests." Don't expect to see to much from them, though Tifa, Cloud, Sephiroth, Vivi, and others will appear in KHII. I don't see why people are like 'MORE FF CHARACTERS' I personally think the whole FF series is entirely overrated.

So yep! Just two more days folks until KH2 hits shelves! Very very excited. I can't wait to learn more about Axel/the Organization.

I own Kingdom Hearts 1, and from the day I played that game, I've been totally addicted and anxious to get #2. The graphics are amazing, and it's good for almost all ages (thanks to the cute disney characters) I seriously reccomend getting the first, and from all the reviwes I've read, the second one as well! I just hope that the game is not so so soooooooooo complicated and really cliffhanging!

Kingdom Hearts 1 was the only reason I bought a PS2 and I have been hooked ever since finishing the game. I beat KH2 in a week and 1 day!!! I absoloutly love the game (As you can see by my name.Big Grin) I admit I thought it would be stupid and babyish because of the disney thing but......I found myself loving Donald and Goofy!
It's overall a FANTASTIC GAME!!!!!!!

I just started the game.

Huge improvement over I. It's nice that..you know, when something is behind you, you can *see* it.

My only problem with it is the reaction commands. I don't like it when something happens in the boss battle and the only thing you can do about it is press triangle. I don't like it when there's a part of a game you can only use one strategy for.

Errr. You spelt Kairi wrong...but yes, it is a fantastic game! ^_^ I beat it in 3 days, I could've done it in two, but I got REALLY tired (so sleepy.) Note: Don't let this turn anyone off. I played from the weee hours of morning till 3 AM at night. =P Plus I skipped some stuff. It's been a month now and I still haven't gotten 100% on Jiminy's Journal.

I completely agree with you on everything you said, but I was pretty sure that kh2 was going to be good, just like I think that kh3 is going to be even better.
It is coming out some time in 2009, 2010(like 3 or 4 years)
