Why are the users scores so low? Something like 6.2/10 right now. I had the Beta and loved it! It's not a 10 but higher than a 6!

Only problem I saw was some loose/floaty controls.

It HAS to be a bunch of Xbox360 fanboys trying to have some effect on this huge PS3 exclusive...that's the only thing I can think of.

Lame fanboys. Get a job so you can afford both systems...

This is the work of some pretty sad, desperate Xbot fanboys alright. The game is getting universal aclaim and people are supposed to believe that these 800+ anonymous users actually think this sucks?! Won't stop the masses from flocking to this - the LBP juggernaut kicks into high gear in 7 days...

Very immature move if thats the case. Also shows something about how they fear the game...

I don't think the average gamer will spend the time to actually create the content and if I wanted to play an ok platformer I would go buy Klonoa. I've only played it for about an hour and although it is very innovative and the building fairly intuitive - I'm going back to CoD4. I have limited playing time so I won't review the game as it's not really fair coming from me. Are the user generated level winners going to ship with the retail game?

After playing in the beta, I think you are wrong. Most users will try to create content. It is very easy to do, and there are really no barriers to putting something together and uploading it. There were a lot of bad, broken levels in the beta, sure. But there were an amazing number of great ones. And considering this was only a small portion of the people that will be playing, with little time to practice, I realy look forward to what is to come.

You are a shooter fan, nothing wrong with that. Imagine if making levels in COD4 were as easy to do as LBP makes it. With all the resources the developers had, do you really think you wouldn't try to put somethign together? And if sharing it with the community was a single button press you wouldn't put it up for others to see?

It seems like every LBP thread I read on any site, there are alot of vocal "haters" who feel the need to trash the game because:

1) They're Xbox 360 loyalists. (silly, actually)
2) They just don't get it.

Oh well, what can you do?

Given over 1300 votes for a game not even released things look strange. Given those votes (currently 59%) are substantially out of whack with genuine criticism (currently 96%) seems stranger.

The strange fanboyism permeating any debate on LBP is frankly disturbing and is obviously a major force in this voting strategy. As a 360 owner I am want to distance myself from my fellow players. Too many people are seeing an attack on LBP as an attack on Sony in their strange deluded world. If LBP and Sony is successful it does not take anything away from the 360 experience, it will in the long run add to it as the new ideas permeate across. Envy is a destructive and unpleasant emotion – get over it and embrace the fact that this is actually “very good” even if it is not on your console.

Hats off to Media Molecule for "taking a risk with something new" and it looks like they have pulled it off. Kudos for Sony for seeing potential and giving them the backing they need. LBP is an excellent antidote to "being a space marine" - it’s great to see new gaming concepts at the table - so well executed.

I would give LBP a 9 or 9.5 out of 10 for my direct beta experiences so far - but I gave it a 10 just to try and rebalance the scores a little. Tactical voting... yeah slightly - but nothing compared to that which has gone before.

Metacritic should delete the votes made on any game prior to the release date.

Fellow 360 owners - grow up!

I agree! Metacritic should delete the scores!
What kind of horrible mob immaturity is this?
Or we should form a raiding party and loot all Xbox owners, liberating them of their broken systems.

I wrote this as an email to Metacritic:
I'm used to seeing a lot of premiere games on Metacritic get lower user scores because of fanboys, particularly Halo 3 receiving a 7.4 compared to a critic 9.4 rating. I have to say that the most impressive one I have seen yet is LittleBigPlanet which has a 6.2 user rating with 1168 votes (Halo 3 has 1813 votes and it has been released for over a year) and the game hasn't even been released yet. It doesn't even have any user reviews (how can you review a game that hasn't been released yet?) I mean seriously either there is some scripting going on are some CRAZY fanboy alliance.

I received this response:
Hey Alex,

We're on the verge of a redesign which will seriously curtail that type of thing. Our main product is the Critic score, but you're right that certain idiots are trying to manipulate the fact that we don't requre a full registration to vote for stuff.

We're aware of the situation and should have it resolved soon,

thanks,

Marc Doyle

Also would like to note LBP now has a user score of 5.9 with 1524 user ratings that's about 400 more since I sent the email yesterday. Yeah, I am definitely suspecting a script of some sort. That's more votes than Metal Gear Solid 4 (1434) which was released June 12th.

Excellent I'm glad they are aware of it and will be doing something to correct it. I may quote your post on other forums I frequent as well to get the word out.

Well.. I played the demo and I have to say that I am not that impressed about this game.. if we can forget about the user content generated level for a minute.. what does this game has to offer? a simple jump around games with a cute character that can make an expression. yes, there's a 3 layer in this platform game, and yes that we can collect things so we can use them in the user generated level. But that does not mean this game deserve the 100% score to me. Don't get me wrong I love platform game, If I have to compare, I prefer to play warioland:shake it.
ps. I am not a fanboy, I have all current-gen 3 consoles.

Your take on the game is pretty superficial, but at least you are attempting to appear neutral. But for someone who says they love platform games, you sure seem to be missing the boat on this...and by the way, there was no demo - it was a beta. Which probably makes you a bot...

Yeah, you seem to have cursory knowledge of the game but exhibit no detailed experience of it.
I was in the Beta. I had a great time. There's a lot more to the game than jumping around.
Multiplayer worked very well, but the way groups were randomly assigned was a bit awkward at times. it seemed streamlined, but there were times i would have appreciated a little control or at least foresight about who i played with. there is the ability to actively join specific people or levels, and follow people when they left for other places, but that seemed to be the extent of it.

I was in the beta, and I loved it. The "floaty" controls can be annoying, especially in levels where serious platforming is needed. I just got a PS3 not too long ago, and LBP is one main reason I bought it. I can understand people not liking it because they enjoy shooters, or sports games, or whatever, but this game should be reviewed on its own merit. Surprisingly, the media seems to be doing this, not trying to compare it to a mario, and I wish that all games could be reviewed the same. MMOs are stacked up to WoW, shooters up to Halo, JRPGs up to Final Fantasy. The pros definately outweigh the cons on this game, but like an mmo, i feel that a review should be considered after at least a month of play.

Just because something is simple doesn't make it non worthy of praise. It's simple with a lot of polish.

I don't know if you played megaman 9, but I thought it was awesome, 9-10/10. Graphics? 20 years old. Layers? 1 Glitches? Programmed in on purpose.

Just my 2 cents.

The Metacritic forums have no say in what reviews are used, how they are used, tabulated, etc. or the basis for them. This is a place to discuss games and other great things.

If you have a discrepancy with one of the scores, feel some sites are biased, or have anything related to the actual main Metacritic site; please use this form to contact the correct person. Fill it out and add as many details as possible to make sure it gets routed to the ideal individual.

Let's try to keep the forums in order and on subject. Thank you.
