These are the two consoles to be getting in xmas 2005 if your from America you lucky b******s but spring 2006 if you live in England. I am sorry Nintendo fans but thets be realistic here, Gamecube was miles off the PS2 and Xbox and undoubtably will be again this time round too. Being a playtation man myself I already know which one I'll be getting for xmas. But not only because i am a Paystation man i will be getting one myself also because the Playstation 3 actually is the better of the two consoles. Why i hear you ask, well the PS3 has an overall syatem power of 2 Teraflops whilst the Xbox 360 only has 1.2. So there you have it. Sony PS3 is the one to buy out of the three main consoles to come out this time.

Actually from all the recent articles about the PS3 and XBOX 360, I've read that now, thoes two consoles are roughly going to have the same power. Plus it really depends on how the devolopers use that power. Games like Metal GearSolid3 and God of War really pushed the system to its extent.
p.s.-I was hesistant at first, but now I think Revolution has a thing going for it. With the new remote controll, it 'should' change the way we actually PLAY games, which is something that looks promising but at the same time dangerous. I'm really tempted to see what kind of cool innovative ideas Mr. Miyamoto has up his sleeve. Although there was this article in GR that was pretty funny.

Well if you really took this into consideration you would've bought an Xbox because it has a weee bit better stats. I think the PS2 has a 197. MHz processor and Xbox has a 733 MHz processor. Im not sure but I think the GPU of the ps2 is 149.97 and the Xbox is 250.
AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST: ITS ABOUT THE GAMES! not the computing power. PS2 owns like 60% of the market even though it's power is miles away from the Xbox
Man, that's a tough question. I love the XBOX, but I'm a total experience kind of guy.
When you consider that XBOX has access to most of the games that PS2 had, PLUS an incredibly intuitive online service, plus better dvd playback, plus 5.1 surround sound in every game, plus support for HI Def video....it's the better system.
As for PS3 and XBOX360...lets see which system provides the best experience. Both offer bleeding edge graphics, both offer surround sound, both offer dvd play back ( will blu ray make that big a difference if you have a regular tv and regular cables? Doubtful.) Does the PS3 connect to your PC and stream MP3's into your game? I don't know. Nonetheless it'll be interesting to see which system provides the best overall experience.
I think with Microsofts money and xbox's online offerings it'll be the king. That's not to say that PS3 will be crap system, i just don't know if it'll make the inroads in online gameplay that microsoft has already made.
Additionally, you can get final fantasy and madden on XBOX.
I think it would be a tie because Microsoft is a big company and all of the adults would like to have the Xbox 360 rather than the Playstation 3 but all of the teenagers would like to have the ps3 instead of the xbox 360. i would get both of them.
My decision will be totally based on what systems the best third party companies produce for most. Especially the best RPG and action/adventure companies.
Although, if that came out even, PS3 would get the tiebreaker.
I could honestly care less about graphics and sound..it's all about gameplay and occaisonally plot for me. (Mostly gameplay).
Ones I have my eye on most are Square Enix, Namco, Capcom, Konami...

Well of course both systems graphics will look amazing but like KatieHolmes said, It's about the games! Right now Xbox 360 has some great games for launch! Honestly though, I think it is to early to even say which is better because the PS3 comes out sometime next year, and the 360 is comin out November 22nd! Just gotta say though that the competition will be great, but the 360 is what i'm buying for sure, and I will have to wait on the PS3!

Well said, Bass. I completely agree. I am curious how the PS3 will take advantage of being put out after the 360... much the same way the xbox trumped the PS2 technically.
Personally speaking I would get the PS3 but if I wasnt I would wait for the PS3 to come out first as the specs in most websites that I have been on have greatly varied.
Most of the XBox titles seem to be racing games and sports games, with a handful of really good FPSes. But the only games I get are RPGs and action/adventure. So while XBox may be the better system for some, PS3 seems like it offers more of the kind of games *I* like.

Let's just say that the XBOX 360 has better technical stats than PlayStation 3; bottomline is the 360 wouldn't be THAT much better in terms of picture and sound. It's all in the games. PlayStation2 sucked technically compared to the original XBOX. Did that ruin it for Sony fans? No. Microsoft might have had the better technology but Sony had the games. It all depended on what the consumer was into. Racing, Sports and action/adventure games are on either system. But by far PlayStation2 had the RPG's to its advantage, and RPG gamers make up a huge chunk of the people who buy video games.
I'd say I'm willing to take a SLIGHT drop on technology/picture/sound if I know I'm gonna be buying the system that has the games I am going to enjoy.
I say when it comes down to it, it's which game console comes out with the best games. That's how there are many different opinions, because people like different games.

I'll choose Playstation 3. The most important reason is that it'll support ps1 and ps2 games too, and I have lots of them. And it really would be a pity to throw away all those great games when my trusty ol' Bessie finally goes to the better gamingplains and the new ps3 takes over.
And also, I'm not into on-line gaming, so I don't care about x-box's superior online features.
