I feel the Silent Hill series are the best survival horror games of all time. My favorite is Origins, because it is the beginning of the story. So, which one do you like best and why?

I have only played Silent Hill 2 and 3. I didn't enjoy 3 at all, but I thought 2 was stellar (except for the voice acting). The story was incredible, the pyramid head things were truly frightening, and the gameplay was tight enough to make the whole thing a truly immersive and thrilling experience.

Completely agree with you there Built to Sleep, Number 2 is easily one of the greatest games I have ever played. If you haven't played the first game then you will most likely not understand the third game, so that might explain your dislike for it. I personally think very highly of the third game although it has its share of flaws. The fourth game left me feeling disgust for the franchise, Silent Hill was the heart and soul of the game and to remove that could be seen as a senseless act.

I find them all hard to finish, and haven't finished many of them, but i keep coming back. I'm currently playing SH4 and Origins. I couldn't get past the book store in the Mall in SH3 and sold it, but #2 was the best for scares. I'm liking Origins but looking forward to SH5!! I'll have a ps3 by then for sure.
