With every top rated game from Halo to GTAIV there is always at least one small independent that gives it a bad review score that is out of step with every other critic - the reason for this? To annoy people like you into clicking and reading and commenting and then spreading their web address around the net asking people to do the same thing. The result? Increased traffic leading to increased ad revenue and increased links leading to better Google placement.
I doubt this site, if it even features on Metacritic, will carry a high weighting so I don't expect it to adjust the score too much if featured. As for the review itself it seems very contradictory and in parts seems completely at odds with popular opinion (criticising the characters and your lack of investment/interest in them is a stark contrast to the views of every other review that states character interaction as a highlight), in addition his main reason for scoring it down is that other than technical changes it's not moved on much from Uncharted 2, a statement that personally I find ridiculous, but never the less it didn't stop him giving Halo 3 ODST (which is heavily banner-advertised on their site) 8/10, despite that being an expansion pack of a 3rd game in a largely unchanged franchise! He even complains that there is too much shooting/covering, which surely would be like marking down FIFA10 for having too much football?!
However, to finish on a positive, here is a review from the much more respected Telegraph website which I would hope gets added to the Uncharted 2 Metacritic page soon.
It's a 10/10 and gives a good insight into just why it deserves that score, in summary:
"Among Thieves is not a reinvention of the genre, more a definition. A sumptuous adventure that enthrals from start to finish, a cast that you’ll fall in love with and a tale that’s better scripted, directed and paced than most Hollywood blockbusters. It is a testament to the extraordinary talent at Naughty Dog and a glorious celebration of what video games can be when they play to their enviable strengths."
