Sony has stated that its PS2 emulator for the PS3 will be able to "upscale" the graphics of orginal PS2 games. (like how Halo & Halo 2 play 720p on the xbox360 vs 480p on the xbox) If this is true, we will see how sweet playing Killzone on the PS3 will be. They also plan to release an update on Killzone (PS3 only) to take full advantage of the Cell and get rid of some of the graphical bugs in the code. (If I can remember the link I will re-edit this post to show it)
I just hope they can pull it off.

I own Halo 1 and 2 and yes thay do own killzone, but seriously try battlefieds on killzone with a friend. When you get good, the experience dominates the killzone campaign and it equals halo in many areas

my name says it all, but to be fair ill do this- Killzone-shitty multiplayer, decent story, Great controller feel Halo 2-EXCELLENT multiplayer, shitty story, decent controller feel Halo- No multiplayer, greatest story ever, bad controller
It all comes down to this; without halo, killzone would not exist Plus, kz suck. My friend who is the biggest killzone fan i know says Halo 2 only has so much more people play online is because of Halo being such a good game... WELL NO F_ING SHIT DUMB ASS!!! Come on 200,000 people on a bad day compared to 500 on a good day. Halo 2 pisses on killzone, eats it, and shits it out when it comes to graphics killzone did look better than halo, but it lagged a lil bit every step you took, and take a look at there release dates killzone for psp will suck killzone for ps3 will be off the hinges i admit, but id bet my life that halo 2, evan for miediocre xbox will have more people play online did i mention killzone was made from a halo ripoff(bastards- get some ideas yourself)

I hope every one in this topic know that the drag you get in Killzone while walking, running, climbing, etc is meant to be there. Guerrilla wanted movement to be realistic and not have your character feel like it is floating. That is why you don't get a smooth constant movement while running in the game. (any one who has played Red Faction though a fun game, can understand how artifitial it makes the game feel). But I will say that there is drag in the game due to hardware limitations, still its a fun game. I love how when you reload the camera moves to give the impression of your character looking down at the gun.
I was very disappointed when I played Killzone on my PS3. It did not have the "upscale" graphics or the "smoother" game play that Sony said it would. Maybe a future software update is in the works but it is not ready yet.

Um, {ED}dragon, I could be wrong (hey julesthejackal please correct me if I am) but I think julesthejackal just meant he played his Killzone disc on his PS3 . Get it? Remember how the PS3 is completely backwards compatible to the entire PS1 and PS2 library? I think julesthejackal was just expecting better graphics on the grounds that even if it was a PS2 software, the power of the PS3 hardware would augment the graphics.
Ummm ya bud, he's saying that he played his Killzone (the ps2) version on his PS3, and it has the bad graphics and is slower on the PS3 which is really a jip seeing if you bought a $600 dollar machine, I don't want worse graphics than the PS2. I mean cmon Sony!
Anywase there isn't a comparison...Halo is much much better than Killzone.

Yeah, that is quite sad because you'd expect so much from a "ridiculously" priced console.
Putting the price issue aside, I had the sort of same problem when I used to play PS1 software on my PS2 console. The PS1 games came out even worse looking on the PS2; the graphics were worse, the picture was really grainy, etc. Someone told me how to fix it by changing some of the settings on the console browser, I just can't remember now which settings to change.
Well, as much as we all like backwards compatibility, lets face it, these older games were never designed to run on the newer systems. Many times games are "optimized" for the equipment in systems. When you have newer equipment that's trying emulate older equipment, sometimes it's not up to the task. Really I'd think programming was the culprit. Somebody has to program the PS3 to perform like a PS2 for every single customized game out there. Additionally, consider that not games are designed the same way. It's only recently that Microsoft has proposed a standardized method for games creation.
I personally love the old equipment and the old games. I love emulation too, but I love the old-tech / low-tech even more. C'mon how cool was the Genesis?!!?! The Dreamcast!?!?
I was playing the PS2 version of KILLZONE on my PS3. If you read my post correctly that is what I meant about the "upscale graphics" and "smoother game play. I will admit that the game play is a bit better with higher frame rates, but the piss poor graphic issue really makes me angry about it. Another issue with the PS3 when playing PS2 games is that you have to put a PS2 "Network Configuration" on a virtual memory card to play online games. Sony should have had that built into the firmware but just uploading the PS3 network configuration into the PS2 virtual memory card. I will admit that the PS3 has some major bugs that Sony is working on (just like the Xbox360 did at its launch) and hopefully the next major firmware update should resolve these issues.
People should learn how to read better before calling someone a liar.

I guess I should be glad I wasn't able to get one at launch, eh? I'm really looking to get one the next shipment though (I heard January or so). Hopefully, no bugs.
Wait at least until March before buying your PS3, thats when Sony said a major update will fix most of the issues facing the PS3 now.
On another note, Resistance: Fall of Man has to be the best FPS I have ever played. It blow Killzone and the Halo series right out of the water. When you buy your PS3, make sure you buy this as your first game....you will be very pleased. A 10 out of 10!

The new firmware update 1.50 fixes the graphical issues while playing killzone (PS2 game) on the PS3. Even though the game is not upscaled, (yet since the PS3 does indeed have a real good upscaler that Sony has been hiding for a strange reason) it is an pleasure to play it again on the PS3

I've played both halo 2 and killzone and I'd have to say Killzone is the better one. First off, Halo 2 is way overrated (just to get it out of the way). Also, Killzone has awesome graphics and sound and as far as on-line....I'm kinda impressed with Halo 2. I've played halo 2 on-line at friends' houses and it is quite fun...but there are a lot of other games that are quite fun. Timesplitters 3 is tons of fun on-line, but it's not the "greatest game of all time" shtuff. I do give Halo 2 credit for on-line, but other than that, it's really not that amazing.
At first I was totally going to bag on Mr. Dwarf for not being a Halo fan, but then I reembered the games are so different from each other. Halo 1 & 2 are about online play that's fast and aggressive. Killzone is slower game that rewards you for being tactical. Consequently, it's a different experience.
If you want the best online experience where smooth game play and team work is emphasized then you want Halo. You cant ask Killzone to do that. Killzone's multiplayer game just isn't as smooth. People don't play it enough, the ps2 controller seems all wrong for it, and the company that designed killzone doesn't taylor the gameplay to gamers like bungie does. Online, Halo just smashes Killzone. It's not even fair to compare the two.
Killzone is realistic, has tons of atmosphere and style, but it needs more attention given to gameplay if it's ever going to compete w/ Halo. If you want a slower tactical game...then Killzone is it. In my mind Killzone is so good, but it should've been SO much more. I hope it's designers give it more love in the future.
