I found Killzone to be alot more enjoyable than Halo. To me Halo is overrated, big time. Killzone feels alot mroe fresh. It has different gameplay styles. I found both games to have fun mulitplayer but single player to me Killzone is vastly superior.

Killzone has lots of things to love, but the halo multiplayer experience is so much better. Forgetting graphics and storyline, the controls on halo are just so tight.
The jumping, melee attacks, array weapons and types of games just make Halo incredible. The games are fast, brutal, and sometimes very creatively played by gamers.
Killzone's controls are less tight. Running is a chore, having to depress the analog still while pushed forward. The lack of triggers makes throwing grenades more time consuming, and not having melee attack is dissapointing. In halo, you can club your enemy after running out of ammo. Also, why is there no jump feature in Killzone? What's better than jumping off a small bridge or walkway, unloading rounds into your enemy? Not much. Playing Halo FEELS much more visceral.
Deciding whether or not Killzone or Halo really comes down to whats important to you. If story, presentation and sound effects are your thing, killzone could be your game.
On the other hand if music and gameplay PLUS nice graphics are your thing, then HALO is the king. No doubt about it.
Killzone is a great first attempt. I think the designers are going to make an excellent sequal, but then again so is Bungie. Those folks at Guerilla Games are definitely gonna have to bring their A Game.

Yeah... Killzone was much better than Halo/Halo 2 even though:
- the game consistently got worse reviews than Halo - multiplayer was better in Halo - framerate was better in Halo - maps were larger in Halo - graphic effects were better (considering framerate) in Halo - singleplayer was much better in Halo - you can ride vehicles in Halo - the online services are much more complete in Halo
Oh, wait... I change my position. Halo/Halo 2 WAS much better than Killzone.

I have both consoles and have played Killzone, Halo and Halo2 Halo by far is the best out of the 3 though it does not support xbox live online play. (story line) Killzone by far has superior graphics, gameplay, sound and storyline than Halo 2. We all have to remember that the Xbox is by far a more powerful machine than the Playstation 2. Here we can see how a game like killzone really suffers when hardware of the PS2 cannot keep up with the game. The framerate of Halo 2 is fixed at 30 fps, which give it a clean look and feel, though the textures and static meshes are not as refined as they are in Killzone. The map play in Halo 2 is loaded in little chuncks thanks to the builtin hard-drive of the xbox. The PS2 can also do this without the hard drive but then we will end up with the poor graphics like in the Grand Theft Auto series. Killzone graphic mode is 1280x1024 vs Halo 640 x 480. Thats why Killzone looks much better than Halo 2 BUT! the framerate is really poor. (15-20 fps MAX! but averages under 10 during game play) If you play Halo 2 on the new xbox 360 you get the graphics bumped up quite abit, 720p vs 480i on a HDTV. The AI in killzone is poor, but you have to admit that the AI in Halo 2 was not much better. Now the online play............. I will be the first to admit that I am a huge Sony fanboy. I own everything Sony from my TV's Camera's etc....you get the picture. The online play of Halo 2 in one word is just AWESOME!. There is not 1 thats right 1 PS2 game that plays as well online like Halo 2 does. I will admit that Ratchet and Clank come close but it is a different type of game. Halo 2 online is flawless, yes it does suffer with network hickups but all online games do. Remember there can be upto 200,000 people playing Halo 2 online on a busy night (wow). Killzone right now is only about 500 (Canada, US and Mexico). The only reason I purchased an Xbox was to play Halo 2, yes this game does sell consoles thats why Microsoft will not release it on PC. Killzone online play is ............fair at best. It does not have the feel of Halo 2 and the framerate is still poor in online play (still at about 10 fps at best). The maps, gameplay and gamestyles are decent in Killzone but they get boring real fast. The weapons of choice for the online play is the gernade laucher....I killed all time by campers with gernade launcher.....it gets real boring fast and fustrating. I'm not a Microsoft fan by a long shot, I use Linux (debain) not Windows on my computer and try to avoid all Microsoft products if I can. But I have to call a spade a spade and yes this one has to go to Halo 2. Its only my opion, but I have to have my say in this matter Jules

P.S. - I looked up both games' Metascores out of curiosity. Halo 2 received an average of 95, while Killzone got a 69. I rest my case.
Yeah. What the hell, guys? Halo is the better game. This isn't even an opinion. And certainly not one influenced by console bias; I've been a PS2 owner for years, and I've only so much as rented an X-Box once (to play Halo). Killzone was a sub-standard game.

i have played both Halo and Killzone.
i played Halo on the PC,and Killzone on the ps2.
i played them,in that order.
to be honest,i didnt buy the game,(halo) but just borrowed it from my friend. i was initially excited to have "the reason to buy a Xbox" in my very hands. having heard so many good things about this game,i couldnt wait to play it.
but after i installed it,played it,and finished it,i felt it was WAAAY overrated.
i didnt understand what was so great about the game. the gameplay is generic, normal FPS,and the story was nothing brilliant...
on to Killzone,i also had somewhat high expectations for this game. looking at the screenshots, though, i had my doubts. having bought the game, and actually playing it,my doubts were realised. the game never lived up to what the developers said it would.
nevertheless, graphics aside,i felt Killzone was better because it had/has more than 1 character.it has more variety in terms of it's weapons.
now i dont have a NA for my ps2,so ONLINE play is not important to me. what i want from a game,is a competent and good SINGLE player campaign, and Killzone did that for me,but Halo didnt.
overall,Halo is more of a normal shooter, which i give 5/10(extra 1 mark for the vehicles) and killzone i give 7/10.
i have to stress out, however that i hardly paid attention to either of the game's story. i just played the game for the gameplay, not story.and Killzone beats Halo hands down.
i cant and wont compare killzone 1 to halo 2,as it is unfair.halo2 being a sequel, and killzone being the first in guerrilla game's repertoire of games

Well, of course you're going to reach that conclusion! You can't compare Halo PC to Killzone on PS2.
Playing the PC version is a different experience because you're using a keyboard and mouse. Play it on the xbox, then play killzone on the PS2...then tell me, TELL ME that Halo isn't the better game.
The fact of the matter is that the control scheme for the xbox controller is dead on. The game is well balanced and the multiplayer is simply fantastic....when compared to another CONSOLE game like killzone. When you compare Halo to other PC FPS....well, its nothing original. Lets face it, the xbox is the home of console FPS and Halo owns that category. Maybe, Halfline 2 is decent competition? I've never played it.

well,i dont have a xbox, and judging from everyone in malaysia's response to the game, its not THAT big a hit.
so i can only judge it from the PC perspective.
but dont tell me the only good thing about the game is the controls? im sure there is something other than that...
and like i said before, multiplayer isnt a big thing for me...i dont have alot of FPS loving friends, and a stable online service...lol...

Aamir, Do yourself a favor and go play halo on the xbox. Infact, grab a buddy and play co-op on a medium setting. The control IS sublime, the music is better than most games out there, the feeling you get when you're back pedalling, running out of ammo, screaming for help, and your buddy saves your butt by wailing on the bad guy with rocket launcher is priceless Enjoy the experience, it's amazing.
